LIGHTING UP THE STAR!!! FENIEX LIGHTING ON NEW 18!!!

Hello Ladies & Gentlemen and as always, thank you for watching!!! Today, I explain our Feniex lighting, siren, and controller package we had installed on our new 2024 Western Star 49X with a Miller Industries, Century 9055XL. To our knowledge, this is the first and only Heavy Towing and Recovery unit with a full Feniex lighting and siren setup. The 9055XL is a 50 ton integrated (non-rotating) 3-stage boom. The XL is for Extra Long reach and has the same capacity as the standard 50T 3-stage. The Feniex system allows us to easily switch between amber lights, amber & white lights, red & blue lights, and all white lights. In Missouri we are allowed to run "Code" or red & blue lights with siren, in certain situations. However, while towing we need to have amber lights. While working at night, we often need all white for scene lighting. Feniex allows us to switch between any of this with the simple push of a button. #feniex Watch the video for more detailed explanation and demonstration. It's just amazing that in Missouri, tow trucks are classified as emergency vehicles. Here in New Jersey, we classified as "courtesy vehicles", which is upsetting. IDK why they don't do that all over the country. I mean, you have to respond to remove wrecks quickly off the road to open roads. Still an amazing truck, Ron. I love the light bar ontop truck. Also south Australia is finally looking at including towing/breakdown vehicles (amber lights only) in same slow down law as emergency vehicles (red and blue) when on scene... Hopefully it is eventually expanded so we similar to Mi where towing can be requested to run code but i doubt it will.

We're supposed to slow down and move over for ANY emergency vehicles in Michigan (when it's safe to do so). Most people are compliant from what I can tell.

I recall a video from Germany where the traffic cop in attendance was more concerned with the legality of the lights on the wrecker rather than getting the scene cleared promptly. You are to be complimented on the working relationship that you have with your first responders.

hes done i think 2 cable service videos but im guessing cause its done in bay and alot of customers dont want the vehicles they own to show up in less than ideal light ( crash damage repair or engine parts about during a rebuild etc)

That actually can be a problem. It can create a situation where a person's brain is processing all those flashing lights and are effectively blind as they drive past a scene. More and brighter lights isn't always the answer. You should be able to shut your flashing lights down to a minium to mark your truck's location and allow the rear lane blockers to do the heavy lifting of warning traffic.

Love the new light setup. I would however suggest removing the white flashing to the rear of the truck. During the day it’s not too bad, but at night it’s like driving towards someone with their high beams on and can be more distracting/disorienting than helpful. My old job, and some states even, don’t allow flashing white to the rear for that reason.

That’s where the push button option is used, it appears. The toggle gets full code status in one flip of switch.
