I know im a year late, but lightning strike kayak, vs shearwater 125? I’m a hefty boi weight at 250, I picked out a kayak for me to use while in Florida, but it’s technically my mother’s, it being a pelican catch 100hydryve 2, while it’s stable as hell, and I didn’t flip, I’m looking for something a bit more stable. I had the chance to test out a shearwater, and I could stand, MAYBE throw a small cast net, but I was wondering which would be the better option for offshore and nearshore fishing as I plan on getting an out rigger and heading out further
@AliexFolgueira3 жыл бұрын
I just filmed a vs video between these two yesterday, should I do a vs flipping video ? Also catch my stability test of the shearwater I published it Sunday

@@AliexFolgueira already watched the shearwater video, but both look pretty stable, I’m just in between 2 decisions here, I have seen the lightning strike handle near storm conditions from Robert field. Haven’t really seen as much from the shearwater other than your test, and testing it out myself Good timing I guess with the recording yesterday, but you don’t have to go through extra work posting a vs test. Edit: it also seems youtube un subscribed me a while back.... odd, I’ll be fixing that

@@AliexFolgueira much appreciated! Definitely don’t want to be flipping out in the ocean solo, so will likely get an outrigger for it for those special occasions. Love the reviews, u do a good job. On the lightning review, when sitting and u finally got the boat to flip, both times, u had to hold the upside to get the boat to follow u over. Was this to help the boat "roll over" or just to keep boat near you? With standing flip, boat didn't "roll over" once you fell out/off. I only weigh 128 lbs, I believe I would really have to work at it to get boat to flip. Good video... need an assistant in N. Fla? lol.

I was just watching your comparison between the Lightning Strike and the Pelican 130, and stability is one of my more important features. How much more stable is the Strike compared to the Jonny Boat Bass 100? I know they're diffbut the hulls look similar. Also, how much more stable is the Strike from the Outback? If you have a comparison video between the Strike and Outback, can you send me the link? I'm shopping for a 'do-it-all/all-around' watercraft without breaking bank. Right now I have my sights set on the Jonny Boat becauseof the value and the upgrades possible without evengoingover $2K, but like how the Strike and Outback look, with Hobie's reputation. What would your choice be if you had to choose between the three I mentioned? Thanks in advance for your advice, and keep making these helpful videos!!👍🏽👍🏽🤙🏾🤙🏾

Good video. My sister needs an inexpensive peddle kayak that is stable. This strike looks very stable, but there are a couple things I noticed I want to ask you about. When you were pedaling, it looked like it was slow. What did you think about it's speed? Second, when you were flipping it, it looked like it was retaining a lot of water.
@AliexFolgueira5 жыл бұрын
The kayak is slower than the Hobie counterpart, I say about 1 mile per hour allower but you can easily get 3-4 mph without killing yourself. The water got in because it was flipped and stayed under for a bit, the larbw bow hatch Def need some stronger seals. Overall for the price this is a great choice
