Don't know if you'll see this, but please don't settle for that back splash in the kitchen. Please, both of you, watch this video back. Look how happy and excited you are about everything you showed us. The lights, the wall, tiles all the cool stuff you have going on in the basement. Now watch the part in the kitchen talking about the backsplash and how you're not happy and excited you are. This is your dream forever home, don't have something in there that you don't really like, don't settle. The stone that is going on the walls in the kitchen is going to look amazing, and I reckon you will dislike that back splash even more once the stone is on.

Being honest, totally agree with you guys that the back splash is waaaaay too busy with the island top. It also just looks dirty. It's not a good/nice looking pattern. The rest is absolutely gorgeous!!

I second this; you made a more accurate description of the backsplash. I'd say, keep the countertop, but change the backsplash to something that resembles the sample but find out this time if the entire backsplash will look like that. The doors were settled upon with what was given, so at least change that backsplash.

You guys should definitely change the kitchen backsplash to your liking! If you’re anything like me, I spend a lot of time in the kitchen and our backsplash is something that I look at and admire everyday. And it’s also one of the main view points of the house. Your house looks freaking great!

Yaaaay! A new video :) I love updates on the house. It's getting super close! 3:50 did they change the direction of the wood on your landing?!?! 38:50, you do NOT have to explain it to us. Like, you are spending SOOO much money on this. This is going to be your forever home - where yall will spend so much of your time. Why would you want to settle for something that you're not thrilled about? Think about how you'd feel every time you look at it. Like, the regret of not changing it initially when you wanted to. I agree with Genay that it does feel like a lot is going on, different colors and textures - but maybe it'd be easier to match the center countertop to the backsplash/other counter tops? If yall liked that. I think it's still beautiful, too, though.

It really sucks that you weren't given an accurate sample of that back splash for the stove area. FWIW, I think it goes really nice with the countertop for the island, sort of a subtle reflection. But with everything else you've tempered your expectations on, if it's a bridge too, get it the way you want it. Kitchens are a huge home focus, and you should love it.

I like the black and grey slab on the wall. It looks like a mysterious dark river. (But maybe that’s just how it appears on camera.) I like the grey speckles because it looks like bubbles/foam/ glittering sand in the water. However, if I saw the sample piece and like that and then ended up with something totally different, I would have sent it back and had them find me a slab that looked more like the sample. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect the slab to be represented in the sample. If they knew the sample didn’t match what the larger pieces were going to look like they should have made you aware before they took the order. That’s on them.

I would suggest trying to change the finish to be more rough or more polished to see if that changes how it looks. To lean into the movement I’d polish it, and to take away from the movement I’d rough it up. Otherwise, just have them replace it if it doesn’t match the vibe you wanted.

Personally, I like the kitchen backsplash. Watching it in the video I was already seeing a monotone countryside landscape in the pattern. But obviously it may look very different IRL. In any case, it's what you think that matters. I get the impression that this may be one concession too far for you guys, and I'd say for that reason alone it's probably best to change it. You don't want to resent settling for anything you're not at least really confident in. Everything is looking amazing though. I can't wait for the actual moving in video, with the big truck of your stuff from the current house, getting it all in the right place.
