What barrel and action, and is it 5R or 4 Groove? Been thinking of 1 in 300PRC over a 300WSM to shoot the newer 215-245gr 30s.

Depending on scope and rings, i use the "wedge" system to level my scope, 100% spot on everytime in secs! Love it, but I will say i doesn't work without a pic rail or some sort of flat surface below scope.

Oh wow, you answered something I was wrong for thinking. I picked up a Savage Arms 110 Ultralite Elite. It has one screw... I thought i got a old version chassis or Savage bought the blemns. Oops. Makes me feel better about my chassis. Thanks.

Nice build. Just a quick question. I have been doing a bit of research about building rifles and especially glass bedding. My understanding is that this is critical for a wooden stock. To my surprise I found a lot of information about how many people are glass bedding with chassis. What is your feeling about glass bedding a chassis. Thanks
@m4rvinmartian3 ай бұрын
*You bed a wooden stock because the wood still changes in dimensions over time. It can also change intermittently with humidity and temp swings, and from season to season.* *ie, if you don't build it in winter, by the time winter hits, it'll be loose.* Most chassis don't suffer that issue. I believe people that find bedding works on a chassis... didn't do proper torquing to begin with, but through all the BS of bedding, they made sure to torque properly THIS TIME. Where if they just would have torqued properly, the second time, they probably wouldn't have needed to bed. You're doing the right thing by asking questions. 80% of stuff in the gun world is superstition. aka, "Ritual Cat". Look that Buddhist tale up some time. It'll explain a lot of the world to you.

Great video and build. Is there any reason that you are reverting back to the OAL gauge to measure the chamber instead of using locktite and a bullet in a fired case?
@RMM--uv7uk3 ай бұрын
The locktite trick is basically only used if you don't have a modified case for your O.A.L gauge. Using the OAL gauge with a modified case is much faster and you can do it multiple times and get a very good average. I'm sure if he didn't have a modified case he would have done it with a fired case and locktite

Piet, I understand the difficulties of SA firearm laws beings how the barrel is the "firearm", but my dude, you gotta do more "shorter" barrel rifles. I want to see some of these magnums in the 16-22" barrel lengths buddy. Out here in the western states of the U.S., shorter barreled magnums are starting to become the norm especially while running suppressed.

How big and how far? Either way 300 PRC will have slightly more range and more power. Is it worth the recoil, extra powder consumption and maybe higher cost to reload?
