The older I get, the more I feel Nani doesn’t get enough credit. She is NOT Lilo’s mom. That was unfortunately thrust upon her due to the deaths of their parents, so she really had to grow up fast. She tries her damndest to learn how to be a parent and to make their whole financial situation work.

So true! In the scene where Stitch’s mouth acts like a record player, you can see a bunch of surfing awards on Nani’s wall. She quite possibly gave up a dream of being a pro surfer to take care of her sister.

Not only that she gave up on surfing she had throphies for it so she was good. And the boyfriend is also quite nice he wants to be with nani but really understand that Lilo should be before him everytime and really treats Lilo as his sister

As a pacific islander, seeing this movie as a kid was the perfect acknowledgement I needed to make me feel better about being bullied for being different in school. It helped that me and Lilo were both weird little kids.

There's actually a meaning to Lilo wanting Pudge the fish controlling weather. Her parents died in an accident during turbulent weather conditions, so she uses Pudge as a coping mechanism. Also in the original movie, the ending spaceship flying scene was originally an airliner in city flying, but 9/11 happened. They had to redo that whole scene to what you see now.

Actually what happened was on that day she didn't feed Pudge a sandwich so she genuinely believes that he controls the weather. It's part of her mental disability.

It dies and Lilo rightfully angrily tells Stitch that people don't come back from the death, followed by Stitch discovering the graves of her parents, feeling guilt about it.

The movie also had a scene changed more recently where they altered a drying machine into a cabinet/pizza box in the scene where Lilo is hiding from Nani after running around the house, originally she hid inside the drying machine when Nani tricks her into coming out of hiding, but it was more recently revised to be a pizza box/cabinet combination after it was believed to be irresponsible to "encourage" children to hide inside dryers.

It's like the changes to a New Hope with R2D2 being blocked by even more rocks that make it look off and makes it seem impossible for R2 to event fit to hide into the crevice in the first place.

26:08 I always love the Councilwoman's reaction to the fact that Stitch is peacefully communicating with her and she gets so surprised when Stitch tells her his name. Literally, it was only a couple of days ago in the intro when Stitch said (alien language) something horrifying and naughty that got him imprisoned. Now he's talking to her about wanting to express his goodbyes to family.

In the extended version we see that the only day Lilo forgot to feed the fish was the day her parents died from bad weather. Since then, Lilo blames herself and that's why she tries so hard to feed the fish, so that no one suffers what she suffered.

As a lot younger guy many years ago I went on a date with a girl I had met a few days before to see this movie in theaters. I went because she wanted to watch it, and I was going to try to make moves on her. Within fifteen minutes, I had almost forgotten about her, and was just enjoying myself. I loved the movie, no moves were made, and I have long forgotten her name. But I never forgot the joy I had watching Lilo and Stitch as a supposed "nearly" grown up. A couple of years later, a TV show of Lilo and Stitch was out, and I had no idea until I saw it scrolling through the guide. I immediately switched to it, much to my seventeen year old younger brother's anger. I told him to shut up and watch. In less than two minutes Lilo told the the red head Myrtle that Stitch's cousin had highly contagious butt rabies, and the two of us were howling with laughter. He became a fan, and we would catch an episode every now and then to laugh.

Nani , Lilo and Stitch are characters that really don't get the credit they deserve among Disney's lineup. Nani in particular is an amazing character. She basically had to step up and raise Lilo on her own, while still processing the death of their parents herself.

This was from a timeperiod were Dreamworks kicked in, specially with the success of Shrek, and nobody expected that. But with this movie they were back on the road because the way it tells a story that for all its sci-fi ornamentation, focuses largely on characters who look and feel like ordinary people with real-world problems. And that is so important and what makes a good movie in general. I can identify myself with Lilo here, the difference is, i was born into a big & priviledged family but it was not always fun and we've been through lots of shit, also I was similarly "crazy" as a kid like Lilo and the relationship with her big sister (which i never had) who also have the role of a mom, that is quite relatable and that's what make it special. Also the Hawaii setting was pretty unique. 🌴

This was written and directed by Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois. Stitch was based on designs Sanders had made years earlier for a children's book he wanted to write. They later went to DreamWorks and wrote and directed "How to Train Your Dragon", which is why there are some similarities in the appearance of Stitch and Toothless. More of Sanders' interesting creature designs can be seen in the next film he co-wrote/directed, also at DreamWorks, "The Croods".

This movie is one of the all-time greats of Disney animations. It is seminal to the childhoods of almost everyone who saw it, including myself. Also, came for Lilo and Stitch, stayed for the puppy.

A bit of animation trivia, the giant ship they use in the climax of the movie was originally a boeing 747. The movie released less than a year after 9/11 so they changed the design due to the culture at the time. You can find the alternate scenes if you look around online.

17:27 min Ken is right. Koalas look very cute, but herbivores of all species are known to be more dangerous (because they're more defensive). And Koalas are very nervous animals and their claws can hurt pretty bad. That is why in Africa you are more likely to be killed by a hippo than a crocodile. Evil Koala + Honey Badger would be a perfect description for Stitch. Do you know Australian Honey Badgers? They're not afraid of anything and won't let go of what they've bitten into, risking their lives. Honey Badgers would also attack lions and elephants.

David is goals in this movie. He expresses interest in Nani but understands that she isn't available due to all the trouble she has with Lilo. He clearly communicates that he would like to date her but doesn't push the issue when she can't commit and keeps helping, even when he doesn't get anything out of it.

Lilo & Stitch is absolutely one of my top 10 favorite Disney movies of all times, I've seen this movie over a billion times, And I still Watch it to this day, And I have a couple of Stitch Merchandise, And My most favorite characters is obviously Lilo Pelekai, And Stitch I can obvisouly relate to both of them, And this Movie is very special to be, Because I was born the Same year that it was release in theathers, I'm such as Stitch Lover! Stitch is a chaotic gremlin and I love him. I’m very scared at how the live action version will handle it since I heard that apparently bubbles isn’t in the movie which sucks because I really like his character because he genuinely has Lilos best interests at heart the entire movie. Like he’s harsh but from his perspective before understanding about the whole alien situation he just saw an older sister struggling to take care of lilo. It’s just a real situation not really addressed in kids movies at least not in this way

Not sure if someone's mentioned it already, but the reason Lilo believes Pudge the Fish controls the weather is because she and her mother used to bring him a peanut butter sandwich every day, and on the one day they didn't, there was a rainstorm that killed her parents. The reason she keeps bringing The Fish a sandwich even though, in her eyes, he killed her parents, is to appease him so that no one else will die in an accident like her parents did.

There’s a really sad deleted scene where Lilo tells a bunch of tourists on the beach that when a siren goes off there will be a giant tsunami wave that will kill them all. The siren doesn’t actually mean that but it goes off and everyone runs. You then see a clear beach but it’s full of trash and she tells Bubbles that if he lived there he would understand. Basically the tourists are destroying the beach and have no regard for those that actually live there. There was also a bit where some tourists called her a real native and took pictures of her like she was a zoo animal. Does feel bad to see how some of not most tourists care nothing for the people that actually live in these places and don’t care about destroying their places

I found out recently which i should have known is that lilo is nerodivergent which makes her alittle different and probably why she finds it hard to connect with other people which i can understand. I am alittle autistic and have adhd and i feel like i have a hard time connecting with people and getting my thoughts out correctly, as well as sharing how i am feeling somtimes even though i do try to but being shy also doesnt help me at all irl with all of that combined yikes lol so i kinda connect with lilo in some ways maybe not everything but i do know what it feels like to be different and sometimes seen differently. Also nani is awesome sister and deserves more credit i love her. Stitch is also something i have a ton of merch of so i obviously really love lilo and stitch. I cant believe it even has an anime with a different little girl which i think is set in the future. The show was really good and i think the only movie i need to really sit and watch is i cant remember the name i think its leroy and stitch or something close to that. Just rambling like always lol. But great reaction as always i really enjoyed it.

Personally, I got into Lilo and Sticth because of their TV show. Also, when I was younger, my parents and families used to joke to me and my sister that I was sticth and she was lilo until we got older and I moved on to star wars the Clone wars.

lol it's funny that you point out that Stich is "like a Xenomorph" -he LITERALLY replaces the xenomorph in a scary ride-experience in tomorrow land at Disney World. (you sit there in a seat and there's "something crawling around behind you" {it's really just 4D special effects, wind and such...} it WAS the xeonomorph but now it's literally just Stich lol... I'd say it was a lot scarier before... and it was... but idk. it's the same ride. so for me when I experience the "kid friendly" version now it's like I know what it really is. it's like they're just adding a layer of _gaslighting_ to it for me, really....)

To this day, I don't think anyone actually, truly knows Cobra Bubbles' real name. It's not Cobra Bubbles, I'll at least promise that. I think the only reason anyone has ever assumed his first name is Cobra is because Lilo saw that tattooed on his knuckles. Doesn't mean it's his first name. She's smart as hell for a kid her age to deduce that, but as a 30-something myself, I can't imagine a reason to tattoo my first name anywhere on me, including my knuckles. And the exact moment he first established that his name was "Bubbles"? He looked like he was saying it because he lost a bet. I *bet* he actually did. Sometime just before he was sent on this assignment, he lost a bet with someone at the CIA office he's stationed at. A bet that said "this time you your alias' last name has to be Bubbles".

Great reaction! I think my favorite memory of this franchise has always been example how there’s no such thing as a perfect family, but there is such thing as a family that can be broken and repaired. If you do decide to react to the sequels I highly recommend them in this order: Lilo and Stitch 2: Stitch Has A Glitch, Stitch The Movie, and Leroy and Stitch. There’s a tv series between Stitch The Movie and Leroy and Stitch. and if you’re looking for more Hawaiian themed films or surfing style films, I highly recommend Finding Ohana, Soul Surfer, Johnny Tsunami, Johnny Kapahala: Back On Board, and The Legend of Johnny Lingo (2003). 👩🏻👽🏄🏻‍♀️🏄🏻‍♂️ 🌺🩵💙
