Plus she was tight laced, so the silhouette that would naturally make her waist look smaller is not the only thing that's going on. And that's why she said it was hard to breath: it wasn't because of the corset, but how tight they laced it.

Not necessarily…..the lacing might be too tight, but most people today don’t stand up straight correctly. Add to that the fabric and actual structure of the garment means you need a fairly strong core to maintain this posture

you can see there, the dress was not that blue before the post pro, it was lighter and less saturated... don't know but I think that way looks prettier and more Cinderella-ish... don't get me wrong I love the final result, but looking at the previous I found it much more enchanting and magical... just my opinion tho

This live-action remake and the 90's version, Ever After, are my two all-time favorites out of all the Disney Princess movies. They each had their own vison of what to portray, but they ultimately stuck to the core of who Cinderella was; kind and brave. Everything else that we perceive her as is secondary to those two qualities.

Emma Watson didn’t want to wear a corset because belle had a lot of movement scenes like the dance and getting on the horse and she wanted a more comfortable fit, I don’t remember where I found the info but there is other reasoning too I think

I like this mindset a lot… adults know what a corset is, but little girls might get confused thinking that maybe somehow your waist is supposed to be the size of your neck😅

​​​@@alice.3509if corsets are portrayed historically accurate, that confusion wont be there. corsets are not designed to give you a tiny waist. that is a misconception. corsets are meant to help with the structure of a dress, and support the weight of multiple layers. they work pretty much the same as a modern bra. they keep you straight, but theyre not supposed to hurt and they dont restrict you from doing anything except maybe touching your toes. which most people arent doing anyway. emmas reasoning for not wearing a corset is kind of bullshit, imo. men of the past portrayed corsets ridiculously so that is how we think they are, but the reality of it is that working women wore corsets and functioned just fine. you can climb a damn tree in one, if you so please.

@@Lovely-sv1ye It's more likely a mixture of the corset and the weight of the dress. The skirt has many layers, and you need to be able to support all that. A corset supports and distributes the weight of all those layers. As someone else commented, it's possible that they tightlaced it as well.

That's because Belle is a active (and creative) herione, not only the yellow ball gown but all of her costume feel different from the world she lives in, wearing corsets and big heavy skirts with a basket inside simply dont fit her character. Cinderella in other hand is more passive, you know, in this live-action remake, she literally waits for the prince to save her from the abusing home, she doesn't even care to escape it like the original animated version does, it actually a bad remake TBH, completely destroyed original Cinderella's character

​@@miamama9886you're the first one that thinks so tbh. Most, if not all, people think that this remake was much better, and the characters actually had more personalities than the animated one. And she did try to stand up to her abusers. She didn't escape because she cherished her home in the memory of her parents above all else. She did go to the forest to calm herself, and her and the prince's love story made much more sense than the original. This is wayy better than the original.
