Thanks for your review and response to this song, the original by Little Anthony & the Imperials (1963). A hit single from Linda's "Mad Love," new-wavish, contemporary pop album project.

This was a cover of a beautifully done hit by Little Anthony and the Imperials. It was a follow up to their big hit, Goin Out of My Head. They also sang Tears on My Pillow and Shimmy Shimmy Koko Bop, also big hits. Linda had quite a few hits with cover songs.

Linda Ronstadt is one of the best female singers & can sing any genre from ballads to country to rock & even opera. She has had so many hits such as "Different Drum", "Blue Bayou", "Long, Long Time", "Don't Know Much", "Poor Poor Pitiful Me", "Desperado" etc. Ronstadt also did two great duets, "Somewhere Out There" (with James Ingram) & "Don't Know Much" (with Aaron Neville). The Eagles were her backing band till they went out on their own & she has covered a lot of their songs. You might also enjoy her collaborations with "Dolly Parton" & "Emmylou Harris". They did a few albums together called "Trio" in 1987 & 1999.

Totally agree! Became even more obvious how good her voice was when she sang in Spanish and old standards, changing genres.

Hey Dani, I only just finished recommending this song to another reactor, and then I see you doing it here ! .. What a fantastic singer .. She really sold pretty much every song she sang, putting all of her heart and soul into each performance .. This is in my very top handful of faves by Linda, and it is also on my favourite album by her, "Mad Love" from 1980 .. It's her rock / new wave album and it's brilliant !

I was lucky enough to get a copy of this concert in it's entirety. It is 80 minutes long and every single song is a hit song. I don't know why they only released this cut up version of the concert. If you can find the complete concert, get it. It really is worth it. I also have a video copy of the complete concert. I Love Linda Ronstadt.

Ms Ronstadt has albums in several different genres of music. She sang Opera with Gilbert & Sullivan's "Pirates of Penzance" on Broadway as well as "La Boheme", Standards with the great Nelson Riddle because she said she wanted to bring the music out of the elevator, she has 2 Mexican-American albums which when floating the idea of releasing one her record company told her "no" and if she did it would ruin her career. Within the first 24 hours of release of "Canciones de me Padres" the album went double platinum, and is still the highest selling non-English album in US history and won the Grammy for Best Non-English language album of the year. Her last concert she performed in San Antonio, TX in 2009 and it was ALL Mariachi songs as a way of honoring her grandfather's heritage. She collaborated with Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris as The Trio releasing 2 albums. even though she has recorded with the artist since the mid-70s.

Linda has killer vocals, an awesome singer with smart passionate phrasing, dynamic emotional power and control. She sings with rich, thick, clear, and muscular tone.

I'm a big fan of songwriter Jimmy Webb, and Linda also did great versions of a number of his songs: "Adios", "I Keep it Hid", "Shattered", "That's Easy for You to Say", "The Moon's a Harsh Mistress", etc.

Another great cover by Little Anthony were Linda hit it out of the park. Definitely one of the greatest singers ever was inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame and sure deserved it. Another great cover was Tumbling Dice by the Stones I prefer her version.

She had the best set of pipes of any singer. Period. You might like to hear her "rock" If so Tumbling Dice, a Rolling Stones piece would fit that bill.

Though I still have a preference for the original by Little Anthony and the Imperials, I do absolutely love this cover by Linda. I would love to see you react to Little Anthony's "Tears on My Pillow" or "Goin' Out of My Head", I think you would really like either one, my personal favorite by them is "Tears On My Pillow"! Actually I also think either one and this one would be great for you to cover. Your voice and honest heartfelt singing style would fit their songs perfectly. ❤

Linda Ronstadt is a legendary top female singer and performer along with the likes of Karen Carpenter, Carole King and Olivia Newton-John. Those 4 women were the best female vocalists and performers for the entire decade of the '70's. Linda Ronstadt and Olivia Newton-John still were having big hits in the early '80's as well. It's a shame that we lost 2 of them over the years and Linda Ronstadt herself is not doing very well and sadly cannot perform music any longer due to health reasons but at least Carole King is doing fine and still performing once in a while.
@MitchellWilkinson-m8n Жыл бұрын
Definitely Linda Ronstadt and Karen Carpenter, had great chops, extraordinary vocalists. Olivia was kinda lame with a thin voice and not nearly as adventurous as Ronstadt.

Linda is the best and the song - Most people have been in that position - swallowing your pride and begging a person to stay. It's not a proud thing, but very relatable.

She could sing her ass off, you couldn't help but just stop in your tracks to listen to her, and she was smoking hot, at one time the guys that were her band would later go on to form and become the Eagles, yes THE EAGLES.

I love Linda but the original version of this song by Little Anthony and the Imperials is better. Many of Linda's hits were covers. If you see her live TV show performances, you will see how good she really was. Examples on KZbin are Long, Long Time, Blue Bayou, and That's Easy For You to Say.
