Aint it strange how life pans out - way back in the 80's when I had a tape of Linda I used to play it in my car, because all I had in my car had was a tape player - then CDs came out I ended up playing nothing but CDs - then along came You Tube - and I re-discovered Linda - Well guess what I'm gonna buy tomorrow - Yep a Linda Rondstadt CD - so that I can with drive with her once again - Thanks You Tube !

Great day in the mornin'!. There are some things that just cannot be done live. One of those 'things' is for ANYONE to try and out-Ronstadt Linda Ronstadt, - just not possible. In a similar vein, the musicians on stage this night re-define fabulous!. Bloody well done people!.

It was an awesome concert. I was going to UGA at the time and was good friends with a guy who knew Alex Cooley, who was the big promoter in Atlanta at the time. I was able to go back stage of this concert. Did not get to meet Linda, but for me, at 21, I thought it was the coolest thing to happen in my life at the time.

If you were around during this time, Linda absolutely ruled. She was the ultimate 70's rock chick. We all flipped out over her. She paved the way for rock chicks everywhere. Linda was the very first female singer to fill arenas on her own name. That was an impressive feat in its day. She was also the highest paid female singer during the 1970's...even above Barbra Streisand and Diana Ross. Linda was the bomb! Luv her.

On this day in 1977 {December 4th} "It's So Easy" by Linda Ronstadt peaked at #5 on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart {stayed at #5 for 3 weeks}; it had entered the chart on October 8th at position #77 and remained on the Top 100 for 18 weeks... It reached #9 in Canada and #11 in the United Kingdom... Was one of four tracks from her 1977 album "Simple Dreams" to make the Hot Top 100 Singles chart; the other three were, "Blue Bayou" {#3}, "Poor Poor Pitiful Me" {#31}, and "Tumbling Dice" {#32}... May God bless and watch over Ms. Ronstadt...

We tend to forget that side of Linda. She was a rock chick and could keep up with the boys on tour. Don Henley and J D Souther still speak of her with affection. She was very brave in her choices but was helped by the fact she could sing anything. I'll leave the hotness to the lads but in her youth she was seriously beautiful.

@dsfddsgh Yes. Linda never looked forced or contrived, and she never disappointed. She would walk up to a microphone, look soulfully out at the crowd, and as soon as she opened her mouth, beautiful notes would just roll on out -- soft and breathy at times, and rip-rolling loud at others. Such a big voice in a little package. She picked really good tunes, too -- I love this genre done by her the best. She remains to this day one of my favorite female singers of all time.

@stradlin62 yeah and "Different Drum" belongs to Mike Nesmith; "Baby You've Been On My Mind" and "I'll Be Your Baby Tonight" belong to Bob Dylan; and "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" belongs to Carole King... but sometimes you've just got to let someone else sing your song, man. And I'm not the only one who's glad out of his socks that Linda decided to wrap her chops around all these and more.

A new version recorded by Nana Mouskouri definitely supercedes this one. Performed as a ballad, it is done magnificently by the great Nana. To my ear it comes accross much better. I don't know what year it was recorded though. Give a listen to Nana Mouskouri.

She looked so hot in The 70's. At any rate, It's so HARD to equal the excellence of an original, especially if that original was done by Buddy Holly. Without breaking a sweat, Mrs. Ronstadt pulled it off. I think Mr. Holly would've approved too.
