Christine's voice melted me like a dollar store candle one night in 1975 as I read the lyrics and listened to Warm Ways for the first time. Look up the second verse and just try to imagine what that was like for a high school wanna-be musician who had never heard a girl play music the way she played. I was 17, and 47 years later I still swear she nearly killed me with her voice that night.

God speed, Songbird. Christine didn't receive the recognition that Stevie Nicks did; but she was more important to Fleetwood Mac. Her well crafted songs were delivered in that smoky, bluesy alto with keyboard work which was criminally underrated. She was a woman pioneer of English pop music when it wasn't that easy to be taken as more than eye candy or a novelty. Her voice and Lindsey's mesh so well here and on songs like Don't Stop, Think About Me, and Hold Me.

For me, this performance highlights the importance of John McVie's solid but often underrated contribution to the Fleetwood Mac sound (regardless of lineup). It's always sad to me to watch FM videos and read the cmments or read fan forums and hardly see him mentioned at all. All the other members get their share of praise and love from the fans but John McVie never gets his dues IMO (even Mick's antics and faces while drumming get mentioned more often than John's solid bass work). Maybe it's because bassists as a whole are often underappreciated or maybe it's because John's the average looking bloke jamming away on the bass in the background while Buckingham, Nicks & co. stage presence steals all the limelight. It's just sad to me, because he deserves more praise for his contribution to all the lineups of Fleetwood Mac from the beginning till the end.
