ORIGINAL INFO: Less any sort of odyssey, more a trip to the local Denny’s.
RUMINATIONS: The Godyssey was the last episode I produced before we went off to film Suburban Knights. The problem with any big trip like that is that it takes a while before you get back into the groove of things and I knew people were going to want to have more storyline, hence the bit at the end that’s just a radio report while Linkara works on the Absent Grimoire. If you’re wondering why it’s Doug Walker doing the voice, it’s a callback to an ooooold sketch he did back in the day - Lori Prince news. He only made two of them, mostly about the Joker and Batman calling into a news program. He only did the two sketches because it was so difficult to have all the different elements to it (background, scrolling news ticker at the bottom, lots of editing and guests and voices and etc.), but I figured it’d be fine to bring him back for this. It’s to start indicating that the world at large is being affected by the Entity, but of course it started in Minnesota since that’s where the Entity has been hiding.
As for the Godyssey, what is there to say? I heard a year or two ago that it was being optioned for a movie, but that’s always laughable. There hasn’t been a single Rob Liefeld property that’s ever made it to film (Deadpool does not count), and even if one ever did, it’s certainly not going to be the one where Jesus fights the Greek Gods.

+Tareltonlives And to be fair, Zeus is quite protective and happy for his kids according to the myths. Hera, naturally, takes out her anger on her husband on his kids, and Zeus tries to help protect them. Jesus getting off the cross. Wow. Just wow. MORTAL KOMBAT Also to be fair, Greek religion was still practiced during the Roman period to one degree or another. The Romans never really banned religions as long as their followers would acknowledge the emperor's divinity. And this was only a problem in Judea, where the Romans couldn't wrap their heads around monotheism and considered the Jewish god's primacy over the emperor high treason. Jesus Christ was one of the many, many innocent Jews killed during the Roman reign for challenging the Roman status quo. Yeah, I took a lot of classics classes in college. I love how the bad art prevent any sort of eroticism from those skimpy (And really dumb) outfits And yeah, that is SO not classic-era clothing The Iliad's the one time mortals hurt the gods, and that was because said mortal was supercharged by another god. Where's these fissures coming from? I can't believe they made this comic. It's stunningly bad.

Honestly Zeus showing up just to point and laugh at a god being tortured to deathby mere men, is totally something he would do. Dude's kind of arrogant. ALSO The Romans did not persecute the Jews for their religion, as some Jews saved a Ceasar once and the Jews' utter and suicidal stuborness to defend their religion was something the Romans could really understand being the ones who introduced the whole "win or be conquered" schtick to Europe. Also the Jesus was crucified und Tiber waaaaay before the Imperial Cult gained importance. Jesus was crucified for calling himself a king (or at least being accused of it) which was treason of the highest order. Those who were persecuted were the Christians because they kept claiming they weren't Jews and because they develloped parallely to the worship of the Emperor (but these catacombs story are bullshit plain and simple).

I can think of a better story when Jésus has to fight Zeus. It basically involves Jésus trying to resolve a marriage problem about Aphrodite and Hephaestus and he talks to Zeus about it. And is completely disgusted with his and his wife attitudes and behavior towards the whole affair.

As a Jew who worries that Liefeld is a co-religionist, well... I don't feel good saying something backing Liefeld up, but given that Christianity could arguably be seen as the world's ever first universe retcon (dualism! God splits from unitary to tripartite! No more need for abstaining from Pork!), this isn't that far a stretch. At least from a comic book perspective. Which is why I call the Christian Testament Crosses on Infinite Rebirths.

Dude, I'm offended by this comic too and I'm an atheist! But I was born Christian and I love various mythologies. My biggest ire is the Greek Gods and Goddesses. Like Apollo being super muscular. He's not buff; he's not a fighter. He's the god of music, poetry, art, medicine, archery, and knowledge, to name a few. Hercules and Ares, I'll admit, are fine. Since they're super strong and stuff. And Ares being the God of War And I'm assuming one of the women in Zeus' presence is supposed to be Athena. Who, by the way, is the Goddess of war and wisdom. I'm not saying she would be buff like Zeus or Hercules, but she should have some muscle tone. And on top of that, she's known for being very calm and slow to anger. And Demeter isn't a fighter. She's the Goddess of harvest, fertility, and agriculture. She doesn't fight at all. She doesn't even favor sides in a fight, just making sure there's enough crops to keep people alive. And finally, Zeus was someone who never really cared about ruling everything. Yes, he did rule the Gods of Olympus, but he was still fair. Earth and Mount Olympus was shared between him, Hades, and Poseidon. And he was someone who made sure fates came to pass. With the exception of Athena, when he heard that she would birth a child of his that was more powerful than him, that being Athena. But anyway, Zeus is kinda a dick at times, but he's not greedy or evil.

Kaefer1973 Well, Apollo isn't super well-known for Archery, just other things, including prophecies. Though Artemis is the Goddess of bows, arrows, hunting, the moon, and stags. Not to mention she's Apollo's twin sister, so it would make sense for both of them to relate to archery.

Okay, taking another look at this comic, I'm assuming the blonde woman in Zeus' presence is supposed to be Aphrodite. And... fair enough. Her appearance fits with her, since she's supposed to be the Goddess of beauty, love, pleasure, and procreation. But one of the other women, whom I'm assuming is Artemis, doesn't fit, just like with Athena. Artemis isn't hot or wear skimpy clothing like that. Granted, she is referred to as being attractive, but that's it. She never flaunts her body. Hell, she, like Athena, is a proud virgin. If anything, she should resemble Apollo a bit, seeing as they're twins. And she's a huntress, and a very proud one, so she should have a bow and arrow and, oh I don't know, actually make her look like a hunter! And going back to Athena, she hated fighting that had no purpose and preferred to settle things peacefully, only agreeing to battle as the only reasons resolution to a conflict. And just because Athena is Zeus' daughter, that doesn't make her completely subservient to him. If he does something she doesn't agree with, she's quick to call him out on it and possibly even oppose him. As stated previously, Athena is more power than Zeus and I'm pretty sure she's aware of that fact.

I don't understand why you and your kind would be offended by something like this. YOUR guy was actually WINNING the fight against what can be perceived as Twelve Other Opponents. And also - about your comment regarding why Zeus would want to oppose a "Self-Described" All-Powerful Opponent...Well, the answer is two-fold. One; Zeus describes HIMSELF as an All-Powerful Force as well. He's not just a God; he's the KING of the Gods. King Kong ain't got SHIT on Zeus. Anyone who dares proclaim they are Zeus' better, MUST be taken out. Gods tend to have egos massive enough to just proclaim things like that. And they usually wipe out anyone who disagrees. Two; the simple fact that they are BOTH Self-Proclaimed. It comes off as nothing more than Boasting that hasn't effectively been put to the test. Neither one of them could have Omnipotence for all we know. For what I know; your beliefs dictate that God created the Universe and everything in it. BUT in the continuity of THIS comic, since Zeus and the Greek Pantheon exist, then Yajweh creating the universe couldn't possibly be true. Especially considering that according to Greek Myth, Zeus himself created mankind. So what's the explanation? Neither of them created everything. Both of them are just lying, trying to take credit for something that happened, trying to make themselves look good. Because think about it; if God really was All-Powerful, why would he already allow such Powerful beings like the Olympians to continue to exist? In fact; why would he even CREATE beings such as them if 1; he must create everything. And 2; he doesn't want Mankind to worship anything but him. My point is...You cannot read a comic like this as a Christian...or virtually any kind of religion. You have to put those beliefs aside in order to get into the comic. There's a time and place for everything; and you shouldn't let your personal beliefs get in the way of your life - be it in entertainment or in social situations. Just leave it on the shelf for a while. Now granted I know that's hard seeing as how the comic was clearly written with the biased perspective in an attempt to pander to the Christians, to make it seem less offensive.

Nonono - The greeks were still around and kicking during the roman empire. Although being under roman rulership, they had still their gods and culture. Even more so, Greek was kinda the Franca Lingua of the time. The new Testament was even written in Greek and incorporated many Greek terms like Hades or Zeus, so it still makes sense to let those those entities fight each other instead Jupiter vs Jesus (although Liefeld missed the opportunity for this aliteration :( )

As a pagan worshipper of the Greek gods (among many other gods) I find this book offensive but kinda hilarious. I can take a joke about the gods I worship but at the same time this is very stupid. I get the idea of why this would be offensive to Christians, but I ask you, how is it any different than what Pagans like myself experience with the stories that surround Thor and Wonder Woman? At least this comic depicts Christianity as the good guys. The greek gods are just evil dicks. Most pagans just accept that this is how modern culture depicts our religious figures. It's easy enough to separate Thor the comic hero from Thor the Norse God.

Kyle Flanagan That's is a good point, but they are not always put as bad guys, there's lot of midia who put they as good guys. The same also occur in Christianity, sometimes Saints like Amakusa Shirou, Jeanne D'arc and even Jesus are put as bad guy, Shirou in most of Japanese media that is put as a evil dick, even the Christian God is used as a villain and lot of media's
