RUMINATIONS: And then there are just occasions where I need a comic to fill-in and it just happens to be gold. Christmas comics are not always plentiful in their weirdness, so it’s nice to have something that has a good thesis to work with, like with powerful cosmic beings who are content only to observe. I’ve always taken issue with the Prime Directive as it’s presented on Star Trek. The idea is perfectly sound, but so many writers use it as a crutch to prevent the actual HEROES of the show from doing the moral thing and saving lives. Yet they always look to the Prime Directive as if it’s some sacrosanct, obvious moral imperative and anyone who would dare disobey or disagree with it is the scum of the earth. Frankly, I’m more reminded of Power Rangers: Time Force, where it’s implied the Rangers’ interference in past events is causing their own future to change… and they eventually decide that it’s irrelevant - people are in trouble NOW and they need help. And when friggin’ POWER RANGERS has a better moral compass than Star Trek, there’s something wrong.
Also: made a minor mistake in the episode, saying that Uatu first appeared in Fantastic Four #48, but in reality it was in #13. Mistakes happen. Not sure how I screwed that up when this is the age of Wikipedia.
