Here are my problems: - As an owner of a foldable phone, I don't like to have the screen out and about because I see things for what they are: it's a thin, plastic film that is easy to damage just by running your fingernail across it. If ANYTHING falls anywhere on that massive screen, it's gone, and the way they're incorporated into the chassis makes them impossible to replace. - It's a HP. Their approach to milking as much money out of you as possible with printers, and the infamous build quality of most of their laptops, just makes me want to steer clear of this thing. - I can somewhat understand the cost, but it will only make it affordable to people who want it for its impressiveness, and not because they will actually make use of its capabilities. It's an expensive fashion statement, like a gold Rolex.
@DarkForce20248 ай бұрын
You said pretty much exactly what I was thinking. I avoid HP just because of the printer thing. Anti-consumerism is not something I support.
@kingzach748 ай бұрын
Their laptops are their only saving grace as a company. While as an IT professional I'm required to support the ubiquitous HP printers, I personally would never buy an HP printer, their laptops are quite a different thing entirely. HP laptops are quite repairable in the enterprise sector and plenty of parts are available for reasonable prices. Even their consumer laptops far outshine Apple and Samsung in repairability. Most parts can be found online from numerous places such as eBay and Amazon and merely a few screws away(depending on the model will determine if they are all matching or different sizes). Their consumer printer ink gouging and anti-consumer practices are abhorrent for sure but there is no denying their reliability in the business sector.
@darylcheshire16188 ай бұрын
aaach, he’s onto us!
@crimsonghoul89838 ай бұрын
@@kingzach74 Problem with making it quite repairable is that you get laptops that do not have a prolonged life span. As soon as that thing is out of warranty, you better start looking for a new laptop. Or if that laptop is given to you by a company, you ask for a replacement as soon as possible. That's what irks me. In my experience, I have always found Dell and Lenovo laptops to be pretty durable, even if they can be a tad bit expensive than a HP laptop and are harder to repair.
@rikkoningen39928 ай бұрын
@@crimsonghoul8983 In my professional experience this does not seem to be true. At my work one of the things we do is refurbish older business laptops to resell. Currently we have stacks and stacks of HP elitebooks. I'm the guy repairing the broken ones. At 5-6 years old minimum we see around 1 broken one to 50 perfect order ones and even then about 70% of those defects are user inflicted, liquid, drops, broken ports etc. Compared to say the toshiba sattelite pro line we dealt with before where we had a close to 50% failure rate of just the keyboard ribbon cable connector. Easy fix sure but holy hell was that a boring few weeks just going through and fixing all those things. At home I use a Dell laptop that I've had for ages but honestly, depending on product line of course, HP seems to be pretty damn good. Note that my experience is on a 5-6 year delay as you don't get laptops in for refurbishing or repair much sooner than that if they're in any way durable.

It seems like Handheld + External portable screen beats the hell out of this price to value. I know it is not the same, but for a portable setup, there is nothing price wise that would beat it. Besides... foldable screens are still a gimmick / gadget imho as it is actually unknown how long those will last till they break... and replacing screen will most likely be unreasonable & uneconomic. I know that David is a trekkie (he has a star trek tattoo behind his left ear) but this was written by Jordan.

Since it's an HP, I'm curious if the feet will fall off with more than a week of regular use, like they did my ZBook.

$5K with only 16 gigs of RAM⁉️ 🤯

Agreed. Even Macs aren't that bad. I would have liked at least 24, or ideally, 32-64 GB for a PC at that price.

I honestly cant wait for folding portible monitors. combining a steam deck/ally or even an iPad mini with a portable monitor and keyboard and mousee/trackpad is amazing and having such a large monitor fit in your bag would be a massive improvement on that

a bajoran earring. that is a wild reference.

This is getting close to what I think a foldable display would be useful for, as a portable monitor that you can slip into a backpack with your 15 and a half inch laptop, that can unfold to twice the size.

They should make a small groove behind the kick stand where you can mount the pen. Then when the kick stand is closed it securely stores the pen in there.

Did I just hear Linus's voice break - or did he just get a little "too" unexcited about this product @ 2:54, hahahaha ; )))

Hi all, some time ago, you guys did a video about the then work culture and the promise to make the work culture more positive and healthier for your employees. Could you guys do an update on what changed, and how your employees do feel about the new situation?

I recommend using The Sims 3 on a full lot and Rimworld max settings for testing "Non Gaming" laptops for there gaming specs. my mum and sister are not gamers but would play both of these games, they are also great because Rimworld is more CPU intensive whilst the Sims 3 is just an uncompressed nightmare with the "back to the future" DLC

If I needed a productivity laptop, I would seriously consider this, that's actually pretty neat.
