There is a group that call themselves that. The Deutsche Demokratische Republik called itself democratic. Most referred to it as "East Germany" - a fairly neutral term. If there is some preferably simple and neutral term to use for kids who call themselves transsexual, I'd be all for it. I work with two Generation Z females that have chopped their healthy breasts off. They were being a child abused before they were 18. The fact that being dysphoric (which means "uncomfortable") with your body and which sex you are, is a very common experience of puberty. Its insideous that children are led to believe feeling this way is an illness and not an expected symptom of puberty but also of any major biological life change. ie: pregnancy, post natally, and during menopause, for women. Growing teenage boys, and middle age men also often experience dysphoria around their sexed bodies. More severe dysmorphia around sex, is also a common symptom of having experienced sexual abuse and/ or exposure to pornography.

So-called sex changes (cosmetic surgery and medicalization of the once healthy-bodied) shouldn't be done at all, or if allowed, not before age 30. A large proportion of those sucked into this movement are on the autistic spectrum, and some studies show their brains can take up to three years longer to mature than those of more neurotypical folks... making them fully mature as adults at closer to 30 than 25. There's also so much more flux and anxiety in one's 20's that the vulnerable are going to be more drawn to something like this. Give them at least a little more time to grow into themselves and defeat their internalized misogyny and homophobia before allowing them to irreparably harm and mutilate themselves. THANK YOU Lionel for having enough integrity to be continuing to use your voice against this pernicious, nonsensical, fetish- and porn-driven ideology. Remember, children are being used as pawns in a war begun and maintained by extremely wealthy and influential fetish-driven, tech-oriented middle-aged men (see Jennifer Bilek's work).

If however they're willing to consider placing mature adulthood's real start later, my point is that they shouldn't choose 21 or even 25. Since autism is possibly the most common trans-identity comorbidity, knowing that autists' minds take longer to mature is important where reasoned decision-making's concerned. Another example where young people are treated differently is criminal offenses where, depending on age, you can be tried as a child or as an adult. Children get much lighter sentences because they are not deemed to be fully developed and able to make adult decisions with the same discernment. Below a cut-off age they are not tried at all. How it can be a civil right for children to choose to do something so drastic is quite beyond me.

@@DorianPaige00there is no empirical criteria for establishing if a child is “actually” trans. Would you have them all fast tracked onto meds & surgery without this information? 60-80% of kids grow out of gender dysphoria. So how are you going to figure out which ones do and which ones don’t?

@@DiodeMom If there is no empirical data for depression, then will you not treat it? There's standards of care that WPATH set forth with minimum time lines that should not be ignored. If a person wants to be the other gender, a psychologist has to get to the root of it. If it is to escape gender roles, abuse, or trauma, then the patient will be likely unsatisfied with transition and it's not a valid reason for transition because the patient is trying to escape and not live. If a person is stunting their growth so they don't physically get the secondary sex characteristics of their natal sex and want to live in a body as an adult that isn't in line with their natal sex, then they are a prime candidate for transition. However, they need to be in therapy during transition with all appointments kept. Progress needs to be monitored with reassurance that if they want to reverse course, they can. Personally I didn't want the body of a man and this was in the early 90's when I sought help. I was refused 6 times even later in life from psychologists who were not clear whether or not they were even WPATH affiliated. I didn't know that was a question to ask at 14. However, I got what I wanted as anorexia does a damn good job of stunting growth. You just have to stay the same weight for 5 years and you'll stop growing and secondary sex characteristics will be minimized especially to the skeletal structure. Puberty blockers without estrogen for males is a nightmare situation where patient will be 3-6 inches than if male puberty played out. I didn't know that until about 6 months but hey, WE'RE ALL EXPERTS HERE. Go legislate someone else.

There’s a huge difference between therapy and meds for depression and meds for transitioning kids- which 98% of the time lead to cross sex hormones and then fast-tracked to surgical mutilation. Don’t know what country you’re in, but in the US kids are being shuttled through the system and having healthy breasts removed as minors. You’re ok with that. What a sick person.

I feel they are tapping into guilt and fear from parents who do not have a whole lot of confidence as parents and so these kids are partially being used to parentify their own parents by putting their minds at rest that, in fact they are decent parents, when in fact, they probably really are not. So the poor kids are bearing the burden of their parents's lack of good parenting as well as their own parent or parents' lack. Its a double whammy for them to be the ones who supposedly have the " problem" or don't fit in. Their parent's don't have the ability to own their own problems and get help so the kids are blamed and are even more alone. It goes without saying that they would have problems like this, especially going through puberty, and be so messed up they are suicidal. The truth lies in the problem of addressing these mental health issues as arising from generation issues instead of focusing on a child who is supposedly a singular problem outside of a complex system. Yes , the child may be in great pain, but you can't treat him or her as if you may as well give them even more pain to suffer through by putting them through the physical and mental torture and torment of a sex change. Its downright sadistic!

I agree with her that this will be seen as a medical scandal in the future. I'm a gay person in my 50s and I can tell you that the need for transitioning young people is completely overstated and not very well understood by most of the public. It's impossible to know before puberty what can't be known until after adolescence, but yet sympathetic people have been led to believe that you're hurting these children by not medically transitioning them. All of this used to be well understood by psychiatric professionals, but they have been pressured by activsts to go against what they know.
