I seen this a few days ago and I can honestly say it’s not as bad as I thought it would be. I’m such a lover of the original that I was PISSED when I heard they were making another one because i was like WHY are they doing that. It’s VERY different from the OG but there are some cool things about it. They made this more “slasher, junpscare” style so it was a lot of cat and mouse going on. It was interesting to see SO MUCH of the strangers in comparison to the original. They really wanted to show how much the strangers just love playing games & tormenting their victims. Theres more of a story to this so for some they may like that. Idk it’s very different but idk I vibed with it a lot at least more than I thought I would. I LOVE the original though it tops this in almost every way.

I went to go see this the other day and I enjoyed it way more than I thought I would enjoy it. I also didn’t watch the trailer because I knew I would see it regardless to see what they come up with. It’s different from the OG in almost every way as far as it being “JumpScare style” , there s a story, they focus a lot on the strangers. this movie was a huge letdown. strangers 1 is in my top 10 for horror films. and the second one was good too. this “chapter 1” prequel was horrible. it was EXACTLY like the first one and half of the movie was shitty buildup scenes with short breaks of generic action in between. the post credit scene was the most exciting part of the movie and that part sucked too. so many stupid writing mistakes as well. this is supposedly before strangers 1 which was 07-08. so early to mid 2000s yet they’re staying in an air bnb (direct quote from the movie calling it an “air bnb”. changing the “because you were home” to “because you were here”. then the post credit scene where he’s in the hospital bed. you’re telling me 1. a masked man either walked through an entire hospital unnoticed and made it into her room where more than likely there would be police officers or somebody outside the door bc of her potential involvement in a crime. or 2. he was able to walk into the hospital with his mask off as a normal person and make it all the way to her room without signing in or giving some type of identification to somebody. maybe i’m being too knit picky but the air bnb thing is inexcusable. they could’ve went 1000 different directions with this being a prequel. all would’ve been better than copy and pasting the original almost to a “T”. i’ve lost faith in all new horror movies.

Dude I saw it for the first time maybe like a year later (I was about 14-15) in Mexico at like midnight and my mom and I had to walk in the pitch black to our house down and across the streets. A pick up truck honked and cat called us and I, being the American raised confident teen I was, immediately flipped them off and yelled something back but I can’t remember what. They hit the breaks so hard the tires squealed and we got so immediately terrified and HAULED ASS past our gate and into our house. 😭😭😭 I could not sleep for the next few night cause I was so convinced they were gonna come back and torture me like the strangers did in the movie 😂😂😂

Ah, this brings back memories of being young and seeing this in theaters and then wanting to rent it to show it to everyone i know. The original strangers movie has always been my favorite. Its such an underrated gem. Yes, the original will never be touched and i agree with some saying that it was scarier when there was no origin story but i will still see this. I want to see a whole new generation fall in love with the strangers franchise. Its okay to let things change. I have high hopes I'll be good either way
