Hands down one of the best tutorials i've seen on women of color.. Love that you considered the different tones in her skin and mixed foundations to create a seamless look.. Would love to see a model of color with skin issues such as acne and scarring.. ❤️😃

Angie, I've been binge watching your videos and I love the way to effortlessly present information. What a beautiful model and my god that lipstick is the most flattering shade ever! I would love to see a video about how to best photograph my client's makeup for my portfolio.
@AngieDiB5 жыл бұрын
Hey Danielle! I am by no means a photographer so I can't help you there. I also don't use any of the photos I have taken for my portfolio and only use those taken by a professional photographer. I use my own photos for social media but that's about it. There are a few makeup artists that take their own photos for their portfolio (Danessa Myricks, Jordan Liberty) so you may want to check out their social media to see if they have any content related to photography.

@AngieDiB7 жыл бұрын
Not sure if you've seen this video of mine yet: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fmK9gpprqrJsgdU but check it out if you haven't. Speed definitely does come with time and confidence - so keep that in mind. I was thinking about doing a video that simulates what to do when you only have let's say 30 minutes to do hair and makeup on someone and how I would deal with that - I think something like that will be helpful as well! My main tips are to have an organized minimal kit, and a really organized station set up and that can definitely cut down time on a client.

YES YES YES!! Angie girl! Yes! She looks beautiful, both before and after. Quick question, how do you deal with clients who see you do beautiful work like this and think it's not good enough because it doesn't look like 'instagram makeup'? Sometimes I feel like I have to educate people on what makeup is outside of the instagram world.
@AngieDiB7 жыл бұрын
Great question. I am a very honest and direct type of person when dealing with my clients and I don't skirt around the issue of instagram makeup vs. real life makeup. Education will always be necessary when it comes to this topic because most people don't think about how all the elements of social media (lighting, the camera etc.) effect how the final product looks. I explain how much product is required, how lighting affects what they see and of course the biggest problem - how that type of makeup will look on their skin after 10 hours (disgusting basically). After all this if they still want heavy makeup that is totally fine by me and if they feel my work is not good enough that is fine too! I happily suggest they shop around for another makeup artist. When you look at all of the parts of our industry, that style of makeup only exists on instagram and social media. For the most part you don't see that style of artistry on television, in commercials and advertising, or on the red carpet.
@charissaclemetson7 жыл бұрын
Angie Di Battista thanks Angie!

I have this problem all the time, I have girls expecting to have no pores or slight under eye creases because of what they see on social media/instagram. I always feel as if they think my work isn’t as good as it could be because of these things, Angie your reply was perfect and has given me a little boost of confidence to explain to my clients what real makeup looks like. Thankyou
@AngieDiB7 жыл бұрын
I understand, makeup for social media and the type of makeup I do are two totally different things. That style of makeup is made for extreme lighting and a majority of the time those photos are edited in some way. If I were to apply makeup like that I would have no job!

Hi angie would you recommend rose hip seed oil for oily skin? All types of skin? Can i use this as a go to moisturizer?
@AngieDiB7 жыл бұрын
Hi Patricia! There are so many factors that determine what products you can use on what type of skin and when for personal use so I am not able to make a recommendation for you. It is for all skin types and from what I understand is high in antioxidants and can help with skin texture and clarity. I have it in my kit to help quickly reinvigorate the skin for photoshoots and in between looks when there are multiple makeup changes during a photoshoot. I like the one from The Ordinary because of the cost of the product and I find it not too oily on the skin (it also absorbs quite quickly due to the lighter texture of the product).

I think cream or pomade on the eyebrows looks really hard. They don't seem natural to me. It's true what she say or I can work with what I prefer ? I love to do brow with matte eye shadow. To me look more natural. What do u think? As always THANKS so much !

@AngieDiB7 жыл бұрын
If my client was super oily then I definitely would not use the same skin prep that I used in this video. She had really great skin that was just in need of a quick boost! I would likely remove surface oil, hydrate with something light (or hydrate with something that also has oil control) and then apply foundation etc.

I saw you mix corrector with the concealer then apply another layer of foundation without setting with powder. Won't the orange corrector mix with foundation and show orange on the skin? I ask this because i have bad dark circles. I apply an orange corrector, set it with powder, then apply concealer. Can i try this technique?
@AngieDiB5 жыл бұрын
The orange will show if you use too much, you just need to practice with the products you have to get the right mix and application technique down.
@stutisrivastava44315 жыл бұрын
@@AngieDiB Ahhhh.....now i get it .....the art is to mix just the right amount of orange in the concealer so that it neutralizes the darkness on the skin then directly go over with foundation.Yay....

Hi Angie! :) I'm an artist and I'm also black lol. I really enjoy your videos and I liked this one. Just wanted to make two critiques if I may with alternatives from one artist to another. I didn't like the blush because it looks like it was just sitting there and I work at MAC and I don't like it there either. Pinks on black women are tricky but have you considered using the blush "Stubborn" by MAC. It is on its way out but they still sell it online. It is a Berry color like "Gleeful" but not as pinky. I also love "Raizin" blush which you probably already have. That's my favorite! Second, as you know lol, black women's skin is like another level oily ( mine included lol). That eye area was already creasing at the end of this video. Just a suggestion: put concealer down, an eye base ( I like urban decays), then set with powder (Normally just use Studio Fix in there complexion) and there will be no oil or creasing. I hope I'm not being offensive but us artists got to help each other, and you've helped me!!!! Good day :)

@AngieDiB5 жыл бұрын
Hi Daisy - Are you referring to your lash application?
@daisyporto17785 жыл бұрын
Angie Di Battista yes
@AngieDiB5 жыл бұрын
It could be any number of things, the glue, the material the lash is made out of, how much glue you are using, how you are applying the lash, it’s really hard for me to give any tips when I can’t see the application. I really like the Velour lash adhesive or the Duo Latex Free - those are the stickiest for me.
@daisyporto17785 жыл бұрын
Angie Di Battista I think a good video idea would be addressing a few common makeup application mistakes and a few possibilities on how to fix them. Obviously the list of possibilities is endless (which you could make clear) but by addressing a few you may be helping a lot of artists. Just something to think about.

Where did you get the pink liner guide

It’s the Beauty Blender Liner Designer, I bought it at Sephora but you can use anything - tape, business card, it doesn’t have to be this thing.

Is that the real techniques contour brush??

I assume you are referring to the brush I used to apply foundation? If so - yes it is. It's the same one I have used in all my videos to apply foundation.

This might sound like a dumb question but I would always get my clients to keep their eyes open (while looking down) to do their liner and lashes as well. I stopped doing that because I've had clients blink multiple times and it always messes me up. How do you deal with this? Or have you ever had that experience before?? Let me know your thoughts. Or please if anyone in the comment section is a makeup artist as well, I'd love to hear your feedback ♡♡.

Hi Emma! People blink, it happens all the time - mastering eyeliner just comes down to a whole bunch of practice to get it right especially with clients that are more fidgety. In my experience I just tune in to their body language and how comfortable they are feeling and let that dictate how I'm going to apply the liner. If they are blinkers I'll apply the liner in short segments and usually they start to relax and become used to the feeling of the liner being applied so it gets easier during the course of the application. I'll also talk them through the process so their attention goes to what I'm saying and not what is happening on their eyelid and I find this helps too.
