lucky the painting was light so you were able to paint over it comfortably! the difference is amazing. it's spectacular how much you improved in a matter of four years, you must've put in a lot of time and effort to polish your skills!

Thank you so much 😊🙏🏼 Yes, that’s indeed the case! It was a very incomplete painting in a way. Would be interesting to try and improve a darker one haha. I’m going to make it harder on myself soon

I've heard this process called "Cure it or kill it." You can't go wrong if you don't like it already. Thanks for sharing Liron.

Definitely better! More depth and interest. I always enjoy seeing your old ( not so good) paintings simply because it proves how much we can improve with practice. Thanks Liron. I’d like to see more of these.

VERY helpful & informative. Would LOVE to see more about "bringing it home" - taking a painting from blah to ahhh with those brilliant final touches. Thank you!

I have jaune brilliant in my Holbein set and I’ve always seen it as some sort of convenient skin tone color which I don’t need... Such a brilliant idea of using it for high lights :) I really enjoyed this video and learned so much about painting from a reference photo. Thank you!

Much better. I have a pile of paintings to "finish" rather than throw out. Another project to add to my list of exercises for artistic growth.

Yes, I wanna see more, that makes me think how I can get it better, being able to see why it’s not a good piece and how I can do to let it become a good piece

This was fun to watch! I'd love to see a full recreation using the same reference photo as an old painting and hearing the more advanced way you observe and interpret it.

That’s definitely the plan! Will do one in the following weeks 😊🙏🏼 Thank you so much Olivia!

much better than throwing them out, although when you paint every day you quickly find there is not enough space to hold every single attempt.
@LironYan4 жыл бұрын
Haha true 😂 Lucky they don’t take as much space as canvases!

You can also flip em over and paint the back. Make 2fers out of some.

Your channel is unique in your honesty. It’s just what’s needed by other improving painters. This was great as a learning experience and as ever, I am able to think along with you as you look at the areas to improve and how to tackle it. Vast improvement and interesting to see how far you’ve come!

I enjoyed this. I often go Bach and add little touches to my old paintings. I enjoyed your tips on the use of opaque white to add highlights. I am always hesitant to use white paint for fear of “breaking the rules”. Thanks for the video.
@LironYan4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! 😁 That sounds great, and I should do it more! I usually never touch previous paintings again (: And as your username suggests - Dare to use the white opaque paint 😉 You make the rules, and as long as you love the result and enjoy the way - that's what counts! 🎨🎨

Well that was pretty cool to watch. You are so smart, what an excellent way to teach and get the points across. I may have to dig through some older pieces and see what I can learn from them and the re-do process. Clever.

Many thanks for this, Liron. I was just wondering if a better composition might be a " portrait" version of the half with the windmill. What do you think?
@LironYan4 жыл бұрын
Michele Homewood Yes! That’s something I’d definitely consider (: Any other way of cropping this one could greatly improve the composition, and avoid having 2 competing focal points here.
