The Chorus is in Chavacano. Chavacano is about 80% spanish while Tagalog is about 40%. Just like how Creole is a derivative of French, Chavacano is a form of Spanish mostly spoken in the southern island of Mindanao in an area called Zamboanga

Philippines has so many native languages and unique from each other. Going from one province to another is like going to another country because different spoken languages because of the country's geography, being an archipelago. Before Spain, you are correct, each Balanggay (community/tribe) had their own languages and that was conglomeration of Sanskrit-Chinese-Malay-Arabic-Polynesian and community created words. The number of words borrowed depended on the geographic location of the Balanggay (community/tribe) because the language evolution happened during trading with other nations/kingdoms/neighboring Balanggay or country. Areas close to the sea evolved faster, while areas that are secluded, their language were untouched or evolved slowly. When Spain came, the indigenous alphabet, relics and religious artifacts were burnt as they were considered heresy and although an education system was established, not all could attend as it only catered to a select few due to a caste system which favors the elites(Illustrados). In effect, not all Filipinos were able to speak formal Spanish, most of the commoners and slaves spoke just the conversational Spanish. Further incorporation of Spanish to the Filipino language stopped after Spain left and the Spanish language requirement in the education system was also later removed. Formal education for most of the Philippine population only happened during American colonization because the public schools were built. This was the time that an education system was created in the Philippines. To this date English is part of the education system and so is Filipino (language). The Filipino language is a mishmash of Filipino native languages (maybe 10-15%), but predominantly Tagalog (85-90%). Tagalog is spoken more in the Luzon area (Northern Philippines), the area around and close to the capital. Traces of Spanish can be clearly seen in the Filipino language, the result of 300 years of colonization. The Chavacano Spanish didn't come from mainland Spain, rather from their colony - Mexico. This was due to trading and construction of structures where workers were from the Mexican colony. Both Filipino and Mexican-Spanish workers found a way to communicate with each other and merged their individual languages which birthed Chavacano. There are terms/words used in Chavacano that are specific to an area in Mexico and are not present anywhere in the Spanish language.

Chavacano is the oldest Spanish Creole. Chavacano started off as a Pidgin then later on evolved as a creole. When two languages meet, a pidgin arises. When a pidgin becomes the mother tongue of a community it becomes a creole. Chavacano is based on Spanish and Tagalog or Bisaya (if I can recall it correctly). Grammar is a mixture of the two base languages. There is a full Chavacano version of Porque you should listen to it when you have the time. The word maldita is also used in Filipino although the word lost much of it's meaning. Maldita is often only used to describe females with a meaning similar to "brat", "nasty attitude" or maybe even "bitch". Edit: Hello to those peeps who replied. Thank you for your kind words, I hope you were happy when you typed in those 😂

tagalog is an entirely different language. filipino is based on tagalog, spanish, english and other languages in the philippines. so tagalog and filipino aren't really the same. there's a lot of misconception there so i just wanna clear that up. for example, dictionary in filipino is diksyunaryo which comes from spanish diccionario but a tagalog purist may say talatinigan. so in a sense, filipino is mostly based on tagalog. chavacano is a spanish creole and it's the only spanish creole in asia. it's usually spoken in zamboanga in mindanao. creole might be the perfect way to label it :) i speak 5 languages. one is english and four is philippine languages - filipino, ilokano, itawes and ibanag. a lot of philippine languages, not only filipino, is influenced by spanish. for example, in itawes we say tiyenda from spanish tienda and con su karne from spanish con su carne. sooo yeah it's spain colonization right there looool
@chattcedric6321
@chattcedric6321 3 жыл бұрын
cloud yu, let's see what misconception are you talking about. English is also mixed with different languages. English is a West Germanic Language brought by the Angles to Great Britain and as it developed over time it includes some Norse, Latin and French, but it is still called English. Same thing with the Pilipino or Filipino, it is totally TAGALOG based in its Syntax and Grammar without any grammatical lexicon from other Regional Languages/Dialects. Although the adoption of TAGALOG as Pilipino or Filipino Language is shrouded with controversies especially the Cebuanos, still whenever a Pinoy travel to other Provinces he/she speaks in TAGALOG so as to be understood. TAGALOG, like English and other Foreign Languages developed over time. Some TAGALOG Speaking Provinces like Batangas, Laguna, Rizal, Cavite, Bulacan, to name a few have different words that an ordinary Pinoy living wholly in Metro Manila may not know. And as time passed, these words are slowly creeping into the mainstream TAGALOG. If a Foreigner ask what is the National Language of the Philippines, the answers, seldom if not rare to say Pilipino or Filipino, but rather TAGALOG.

That song is actually written in chavacano but they translated it to tagalog so that some parts of the Philippines will actually understand the song. I’m a chavacano by the way ☺️

There is actually a full chavacano cover of this song. In this version, only the chorus part is chavacano. There are several dialects of Chavacano in the Philippines. The Zamboanga Chavacano (used in this song), is prevalent in Zamboanga and Basilan, which is mixed with Visayan languages. The Cavite Chavacano is prevalent in Cavite, which is close to Manila, so mixed primarily with Tagalog.

There's nothing broken about chavacano, because it is a complete language itself.. It's a spanish creole, meaning two or more languages mixed by people with different languages so they can understand each other, resulting in a pidgin language.. Over time this pidgin develops into a creole when passed down from generation to generation, having it's own orthography and dictionary. Because if you call chavacano broken spanish, then you can also call spanish, broken latin, but we don't because spanish is a separate language all together, same goes for chavacano, we don't call it broken spanish because it's a separate complete language all together.

''Maldita'' in Chavacano means like a girl who is mean, naughty, snobbish, overconfident, and prideful. It is not a curse or swear word in Chavacano, but to be called a ''maldito/a'' is not good and not totally well-received, 'cause it' s also like you're being called that you're a really bad person and your parents, elders, and or guardians didn't discipline, parent, and nurture you well. Sometimes, it also means like a girl who is young and pretty and or cute, but who is also naughty, snobbish, and mean at the same time. Here in this other context, it's like trying to turn a description or adjective of a really bad attitude, character, and behavior into something a little bit positive just for young female kids who are also naughty, mean, and snobbish. Saludos desde Ciudad de Zamboanga, Filipinas!

Why [VERSE 1] Blankly staring in my bedroom And humming endlessly The question for myself Where did I go wrong? [REFRAIN] Why did I liked you out of everyone else? Like a bubble you've disappeared [CHORUS] Why did I chose you in the first place? Now, my dear heart is suffering What I want's as simple as it is That you experience pain and sorrow that I feel I pray for a miracle That time delayed And correct all of my mistakes I put in my prayers In my heart That I will always forget you. [VERSE 2] I gave everything I have Now I regretted that happening The punishment's just too hard I don't know if I still can survive [REFRAIN] Why did I liked you out of everyone else? Like a bubble you've disappeared [CHORUS] Why did I chose you in the first place? Now, my dear heart is suffering What I want's as simple as it is That you experience pain and sorrow that I feel I pray for a miracle That time delayed And correct all of my mistakes I put in my prayers In my heart That I will always forget you. [BRIDGE] Don't ever go near, or call me back And maybe I will slap your face I will not come back, even if you regret That you leave me alone Why did I chose you in the first place? Now, my dear heart is destroyed My wish is as simple as it is That you'll experience pain and sorrow that I feel [CODA] Why did I chose you in the first place?
