Mate! You're an absolute star! I just bought a Lister LD1 and need to flush the tank, filter, and bleed it to see if it will run. I had no clue at all until I found your awesome video. Cheers from downunder! I'm off to give it a crack.

Hi Adam, Really enjoyed watching the Lister startomatic video last night. My father in law used to be a fitter with Bloomfield and Sons in Suffolk and fitted loads of these before mains electricity reached the farms. I will pass on the video. He said that even the Startomatics that were driven from a Lister CS were built to be taken apart easily and had to fit through a standard door frame as a design requirement. It was a nice and long video and dont worry we all make make errors as we are human. I worked with a lad once who filled an engine with oil on a Guy lorry up to the rocker box. Needless to say his employment was short and the engine burst apart from the sump and I had to mop up the pit. I have filled a van and had the oil run out because the bung was still out. I have really enjoyed all the videos and the Reliant made me smile. Thanks

aw thanks very much. glad you enjoyed it. can father in law still remember were the 6 wires out of the generator goes? lol.. There will be lots more vids on this I'm sure. and as the weather gets better the Reliant also. lots to be doing. Thanks for watching 😁

Hi Adam. Another great video, Warts & All. Didn't bother me about the length. I don't really like too much "Time Lapse" content. Did an oil change on my Dad's 1966 Ford Cortina Mk1 and (Kinked) the oil filter ( o ) ring tightening the securing bolt. Lost 3/4 of a gallon of Duckhams finest 20/50.
@NorfolkMancave3 жыл бұрын
Nice one. to be honest I only really do the time laps thing to speed through a boaring bit. to save you folks getting board and switching off. I do try not to edit much out. Duckhams oil, heck my grandad used to use that in the 70s in his Moggy 1000. lol

So Clyde seems to think it is cold at thirty five. Nope. My hummingbirds died overnight at -8 farenheight. -22 for the British folk. Would have brought in the birds if they would have let me. I got them heated feeders which kept the nectar from freezing. Next year I will make better friends and bring them in to sit on the top of my door.

about 40 years ago I was working on an Island where we had a SL2 Lister running a generator. The engine was noisy,rattly and smoked really badly ,oil even came out the exhaust but it was easy to start on the crank and when not under too much load it ran at full revs...😁.The guy i was working for had a bout 40 others he had bought at a Govt.Surplus auction and all needed repairs of some sort. 🙄

is there a place to heat when the rack is stuck in the injector pump -- sl4 sat for years
@NorfolkMancave3 ай бұрын
To be honest I would not heat any part of the pump as there are rubber 0 rings and parts inside. I would just lash it with wd or soak it in Diesel for a while. Then give the rack a very light tap in each direction and it should break free. Ps put Diesel in the top of the pump, in the inlet and bleeder screw to make sure it's wet I side.
@Equiluxe13 жыл бұрын
That engine was running with the decompressor hitting the exhaust valve, when in manual mode you need to make sure the pin is holding the decompressor off.
@NorfolkMancave3 жыл бұрын
I did have the pin in but it jumped out.

@NorfolkMancave3 жыл бұрын
By the way. do you know if these have a head gasket? I can't seem to find one.
@bernardsantiqueengines31283 жыл бұрын
@@NorfolkMancave they don't have head gaskets but thin rings to seal on a very smooth surface. That acts like a gasket and shims for your bumping clearance so they can only leak when the bolts aren't tight enough. I have had a few of these lister air cooled diesels apart before. You probably know that your bumping clearance shims on a CS sits underneath the barrel and your head gasket on top. Well on the air cooled diesels they have a very thin copper gasket ander the barrel and the actual bumping clearance shims on top between the head and the barrel.
