Honestly... In my opinion, because of how they were designed (like how the Main Deck Vendreads have to be on the field to grant their bonus effects when used to Ritual Summon a Vendread Ritual Monster), they were DEAD on arrival in Code of the Duelist...

What would you rather be angry about? An archetype being considered busted, or an archetype that's considered mediocre? I think that the overall aim of F.A. and Vendread was to introduce new deck styles without having them bring hated for meta prevalence. Considering how previous TCG archetypes have either gone too low or too high...I think that F.A. and Vendread are closer to the middle of that spectrum.

I personally feel F.A. is a underrated deck. It has problems like some consistency and normal summon reliant problems, but the support they got was good, a LOT better than what vendreads got.

As soon as the ritual fodder specifically said on the field i knew there was a problem but cool design none the less if konami wouldve gave the effects more push like hounds, revanents etc being able to give effects in grave if used for ritual summon wouldve been fucking amazing but konami failed to do it but as for future support i dont see vendread comming back from being shit to top tier unless they make a "double helix" like card but all and all just dissapointing in general

Well, considering plays for Vendreads would go like this: Pitch rituals to grave to draw or work on plays. Allure and banish vendread for later. Pre-prep to search for Slayer and ritual spell. Do your damnest to get vendreads on the field for ritual, use grave as alternative for materials. Use banished vendreads for more advantage. Ritual summon from the grave or hand if necessary, get added effects, go for the kill. I'm not surprised people don't take the 'zombies never stop dying' concept and make a deck out of that using this archetype. xD

well they have vendread revolution, which has quite good recovery with both it's normal effect and graveyard effect. It's sadly not searchable and a trap :( (though I think it not being searchable is worse).

+Mofiz Aside from rituals literally having insane support to go along with Hundreds, great synergy with generic zombie support, and also... Ritual summoning from the grave. It's pretty obvious that they want you to pitch the rituals into the grave so you can draw into your better resources, then bring them back via ritual summon or other shenanigans. The remainder of the deck is either banish support or other things.

TheVampire989 congratulations, you have said a lot of things that don't matter at all. Rituals brick because they require too many cards that don't do shit on their own. Know why nekroz is good? Because they don't B R I C K Every nekroz played has a relevant hand effect and even the spells made it nearly impossible to not have something to make use of the rituals. Other rituals don't. That's why rituals aren't topping

I would gladly make the trade where the little guys can give there effects from anywhere. Than have Executioner make everything untargetable. Bc Core effect, and the the Banish spells and traps, and Special summoned monsters would be better with the weaker Ritual boss monsters like Slayer.

the deck is underwhelming compared to Nekroz (2015, that's 3 years ago when things like Tellarknights were tier 1) but i guess Konami is afraid of creating a beast like that ever again xD, also when you see people making Omega more than the rituals, you know the deck is not that great :(

Hey Lithium, i your opinion what happened with Konami? I mean, they had previous dominating exclusive tcg archetypes (Kozmo and BA) but now, the exclusives are getting pretty underwhelming

Diego Vazquez Soto think it's possibly because there scared of breaking the meta again like they did twice before, then also Ocg Adding a new exclusive like *Beatrice* or Spyral Link* pushing the deck to even more busted tiers, TCG seems to not try to repeat that process again atleast NA Konami. I feel like OCG is more wreckless and more willing to break the meta from time to time, then clean it up on the banlist. Thus why you tend to see more power cards in OCG compared to TCG as they take forever to bring something back.

a great concept that could've worked, but they screwed it up big time. F.A. is far superior as despite it has obvious big problems, it at least has a proper win condition and works fine by itself. Vendreads isn't the case. Without generic ritual support and zombies, this deck isn't good.

I don't think the archetype is that bad. It is heavily focused on player interaction, and grinding. An "A HERO Lives", which SS the non-ritual monsters from the deck for more explosive plays would be nice...

if it's ocg cards like stuff from cybernetic horizon or the collector's pack, i don't see a problem with using cards we have no idea when we'll get since the format could be entirely different by the time we get them. but since vendread get their last wave of support in a couple weeks, it's reasonable to test with cards we know we'll have when the set drops.

Surprised nobody thought to use the lair of darkness stuff in here, Darkest Diablos is a free summon every time you ritual summon and every Vendread trap is now searchable thanks to Lilith.

Lithium2300 That's not what I meant, the monsters are what work in the deck, not the lair itself. You have to tribute monsters on the field for your ritual monsters, which would trigger Diablos in the GY, giving you a free body on field when you summon a slayer or battle lord. Lilith can tribute striges or cores or even the rituals and itself to trigger its effects, allowing you to search every Vendread trap in the game, and if you summon it before using reorigin, you can use reorigin to tribute an opponents monster and then tribute the token with Lilith, triggering Diablos because a dark on you field was tributed.

Imo the new vendread ritual should've had the search effect on discard and if it was lvl 7 then it would've been even better because prep would be able to search it. With the discard search the deck would certainly get a nice consistency boost and you would then be able to run the other spell/traps and make them somewhat worth it. The reborn effect on the monsters is nice as well, but it should've been more easily available on vendread revenants since it's one of the two best ones to use. The other ones could've been better, but idk how to improve it without making it suddenly broken, though I honestly think tributing from field isn't that terrible, but rather a decent balancing point. It just sucks that konami decided to overbalance the archetype for no reason.

A good redesign for this deck is more self banishing/banish activates effects in their spells/traps that don’t have none. Forget giving the lvl 8 a shitty floating search effect, give it a more powerful effect like float by summoning a vendread from the grave and banish zone. That way at least u have better protection, sans strike, and setup for more plays. Fuck, giving this redesign would make chimera, yes chimera, more useful! Protect and plus/recursion. EDIT: Ok, maybe not make chimera more useful, bc that’d require a rework for it to just banish Vendread cards, but u get my point. At the very least Battlelord is an even better push monster.

You're playing it wrong.. Where are the Vendread charges and why 3 preperations of rites? Also 2 battlelords are a lot.. Too many handtraps remove 1 ash and 1 ogre

If I wanted to make the deck worse, I'd slap in copies of Vendread Charge. 2 Battlelord because of the shaddoll fusion. You need handtraps / traps, otherwise you'll have 0 chance to compete.

You neg, same with the field spell, don’t play any vendread cards that don’t do anything on their own or with the shiranui engine. The ritual spells banish from grave resolving shiranuies effs (which are better than the vendread ones)

Imo, there's some obvious problems with this decklist, but nothing too awful I suppose? Here's a couple changes I would make to it: REMOVE: 1 copy of Strix, while it may be good to float and use for links, it has an awful ritual effect, and if you really want to go into links easier, Core is also an option, which can also be dumped alongside of a Battlelord for a ritual summon of Executor. 1 copy of Mezuki, yes Mezuki is actually amazing, but it's not really needed with Anima around as much (we'll get to her later) Soul Charge, not necessary at all. 1 copy of Preperation, I know this sounds like a sin, but it's really not as amazing as you would think in this deck. 1 copy of Ash and Ghost, they're very good in theory, but it's a tad overkill with them on board. 1 copy of Battlelord, completely optional but I prefer having a chimera over another Battlelord. Spiritmaster, just a tad bricky imo. ADD: 2 Allure, for the draw power + Anima synergy 2 Anima, mezuki for vendread? Don't mind if I do! 2 or 3 Charge, Vendread charge combos AMAZINGLY with Houndhorde. 1 Revenants, once again, optional, just my preference. I could keep going on but that would be annoying. Hope this helps

wise reactions I forgot to mention to add more houndhordes and honestly it doesn’t hurt too bad. Opening multiples sucks a lot but it can activate a ritual summoned vendread if you’re trying to dodge removal. The worst scenario is if you don’t have access to a ritual summon but even then, links exist.

DarkTome the point of three copies is to open with them as much as you can, nowdays ygo doesnt go into that many turns, the hand trap is need it and the three pre pre is also need it, ( two preparations of rites is ok)
