I think there is two versions of a long way there of which one was shortened for the radio play and the album version the longer version will blow you away¿!!

I was going to suggest that one as well! Be sure to listen to the 8-and-a-half minute version, that's the one with the full spectrum of this rock masterpiece.

The song is actually from their 1978 album, Sleeper Catcher. I had the joy of seeing them live in August 1978 as part of an all day lineup of bands, played at our outdoor football soccer stadium. The sun was beginning to set when Little River Band took the stage as the second to last act of the day. The ski run lights on the mountains across the inlet were beginning to turn on and a cool breeze was finally coming in off the Pacific Ocean, cooling an otherwise blistering hot full day in the sun. The band's unique blend of incredible harmonies, with their Rock/Jazz/Funk/World fusion was perfect for the moment. They focused on tracks from this album (including this song) and those from their breakthrough Diamontina Cocktail release from the previous year. Absolutely sublime! Last on the bill was Heart, playing for their adopted hometown here and pushing their newest album, the incredible Dog And Butterfly. That experience is a whole other story. I will always know where I was on Sunday, August 27, 1978. Empire Stadium, enjoying a perfect day of great live music ♥

The Supertramp show at Empire Stadium was everything I hoped it would be. A sunny summer Saturday and from where I was on the field, the sound was great.

Excellent choice from a band that deserves more attention than it usually receives. Phenomenal vocal harmonies and instrumental solos! I consider LRB a smooth jazz/yacht rock genre. Just what you need to simply sail away to a groovy place!❤

It's 12:25 a.m. and I just noticed this reaction and I had to watch it! This song is one of my two favorite Little River Band songs along with "It's a Long Way There" and they're both great! There musicianship is top-tier. Those guitar solos and ESPECIALLY that bass!!! It's a damn shame there's not music like this on regular radio or tv. Really expected you guys to love this song and wasn't disappointed.

First time I saw them was at our “Southern Oregon Jam” at Miles Field in Medford Oregon. The can really rock! Saw them after in a little bar next to their motel where me and my mom worked. (Bonanza Room). They played on Wendy’s drum kit and her husband’s guitars. Next morning there were a lifetime supply of drum heads and strings outside the kitchen door. I was so lucky to have seen BOTH!

Little River Band, probably the first Australian band to have sustained success in America, This is not the same Little River Band that tours America to this day….. some great songs….. Fall From Paradise, Man in Black, Long way there, Cool Change, Hard Life, and their biggest Hit in the US…. Reminiscing….. they weren’t an Australian only band …. They had great success in America….and they had multiple singers …. Glenn Shorrock, John Farnham… ( Main Lead)…. Beeb Birtles…. Wayne Nelson.

Smooth tune off one of their better albums. Bassist George McArdle left the band after this album. They're pretty well known here in the U.S., at least to boomers. They charted in the states in the 70s/80s & those songs were on the radio a lot. They were nominated for a Grammy in 1980 for "Lonesome Loser" (Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Duo, Group or Chorus), which The Doobie Brothers won for "Minute by Minute." The title of this song made me think of "Light of Day, Day of Darkness" by Green Carnation (Norway). The song is a 60 minute epic taking up the entire album of the same name (2001). It was written & arranged by founding member Terje Vik Schei (Tchort) & in 2019 vocalist Kjetil Nordhus told Metal Injection: "... it's his story about a period in his life where he lost his daughter when she was really young, & he was going to get a new son. He got a new son, & it deals with the shame of enjoying something you should enjoy, but dealing with the past."

The Lyrics are telling us to 'Believe in Jesus' (The Light of Day). They see people walking around blind because they don't see the reality of Jesus. They take no heed of what they can learn - instead, they are just running in circles without purpose. They head for a door that reads 'Escape', trying to find anything they can take to fill the void of emptiness. Lonesome nights and wasted days leads men from the 'True Ways' that God created them for. Yet he insists "He's nobodies fool" when that's exactly what he is - a fool. To 'Dig the Dance' is to walk in newness of the Holy Spirit. To 'Take a Chance' on that which we can't see with the natural eye and into the 'Spirit Realm' Hear the chorus as if Jesus is actually calling out to YOU! "Hey Boy! or 'Hey Girl! - Come out and join in the Dance with Me." Finally - I think the 'Sandman of Time' is a personification of death. We need to consider that this life is not forever and a day will come when we will stand before the Living God to be judged. Will you be found in the Grace of Jesus? This can only be accessed by Faith. Salvation and Eternal Life is found no other way except by His Grace.

React to their hits too as they had several. Also, React to Guess Who “ These eyes” react to Tommy Bolin private eyes album- the song poast toastie is a good start - only true rockers from the 70s early 80s know about Tommy Bolin-
