Of the thousand plus songs I know and have either sung or played as a musician in the past 40 years this song is my all time favorite .

John Lennon loved this song. It's a catchy, smooth bit of well-crafted pop, very late 70s. And it holds up pretty well. :)

One of the few Australian bands that cracked the US charts. Glenn Shorrock (the lead singer) still tours mainly in Australia. This was also the original Little River Band, not be confused with the American tribute act that goes under the same name.

I was 11 or 12 when this was new & I LOVED their sound, songs, everything! I was a shy kid with no friends & paid a lot of attention to every detail of all music & their style... and still listen to a lot today, at 55 - mostly, to watch others appreciate great music from back in the day! Reminiscing about this great song that is reminiscing about Glenn Miller and Cole Porter. Wow! Now that is back in my parents day. Great request Rob. I absolutely love it. One of my favourite Little River Bands songs, along with Lonesome Loser. Harmonies are so beautiful and the violins and horns are so complimentry to each other. Great memories when music was music. Thanks Harri. Loved this. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

Great lyrics, “and a Porter tune made us dance across the room”. That’s a reference to the great Cole Porter.

And the boys in the background sing “Night and Day” in response to the leading line of “And a Porter tune made us dance across the room”. Anyone reading this who doesn’t know “Night and Day” by Cole Porter has a wonderful experience awaiting; it is one of the greatest love songs of all time, IMHO.

I was working in radio in San Francisco in engineering when this song came out. My chief engineer loved this song because it reminded him of when he was dating his wife in more innocent times. He has passed on, but I will always remember how he cranked the volume up to cover up his bad singing

I was 14 when this came out in 1978. My parents loved the Glenn Miller sound & played it for me to enjoy, too. I like the way this is filmed as opposed to videotaped. The sound is as lush as the visuals. Enjoyable in so many ways. Thanks for the memories!

Oh yes! "Reminiscing" by The Little River Band is another of my favorite songs that are hard to categorize. I would put them in 'the music I like' genre, Harri.

I tell ya what, Harri! This band is phenomonal live. I saw them in concert about 10 years ago and was so amazed at how good they sounded. I was a very young girl when this band was popular, but it was one of my parents favorite bands. My mom was always playing their music on the record player. Great song!

was it the same band? I know there's currently an American band with the same name, performing some of the original songs. Glenn Shorrock (original lead singer from the 70s) has been in a legal battle with them for years.

@@chriskelly9476 it's the same band but I was not aware that some of the originals weren't with the band anymore. There were 3 originals that were no longer with them. At least that was at the time that I saw them 10 years ago. I don't know what the line-up of the band is now though.

This is a great soft rock band from Australia. You've done a few of their songs already. They had a lot of great hits especially in the 70's-80's such as "Happy Anniversary", "Lonesome Loser", "It's A Long Way There", "Take It Easy On Me", "The Other Guy", "The Night Owls", "We Two" etc.

Such a laid-back song & video! Easy to listen to & watch. Little jazz & swing to go along with the relaxed mood. If you haven't already, sir, may I suggest you react to their "Happy Anniversary". This song brings back the best memories of my life. This song defines the genre “Yacht Rock” that started in the mid 70s. A time when hard rockers and partiers were started to settle down.

@@HarriBestReactions 😆, hell to the NO. No more friends. She married the serial heartbreaker.. I went off to Bootcamp. She became the butcher in our township, taking over business from her pops. Couple yrs - a couple kids later with, "Duane" (the Elvis) wannabe. Welp, noone saw him anymore he just up & disappeared. Story told: They sold some great tasting hotdogs that summer. 😋 😊😂

I bought some nice Glenn Miller CDs recently, which normally I don't buy -- and not long after, I heard this song on the radio for the 1st time in years. Really good.

For the record according to wikipedia it was #1 in Canada on the "RPM Adult Contemporary" chart, and #7 on the "RPM Top Singles" chart. It peaked at #3 on the US Hot 100. The album this song is from: "Sleeper Catcher" peaked at #16 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Harri, thanks for reacting to one of my all-time favorite songs. On another note, I've suggested this to 15 video reactors, but no one has done it yet. Please check out Joe Bonamassa doing "Takin' the Hit" from the Live at Rockpalast video. It's an amazing piece of guitar, bass, and drum wizardry from a power trio.

Not sure when you recorded this one, but I think it's about your fifth reaction to LRB, you know them a bit now, you did some early stuff and some later stuff. They were a great Aussie band for sure. You could try some even later stuff when John Farnham took over vocals after Glenn left.
