The workshop is looking great. It's awful nice being able to set things up on a big slab.. the way you're rebuilding this trailer, it was an very good trade both ways!

"That would be the easy thing to do, but it's not the right thing to do". I'll steal that quote 😁 Thank you for sharing. I'm in the process of designing something similar for my work van, always good with the right inspiration.

I thought of using 40x20mm C channel and a single row of bearings all inside the channel. But then I saw and bought runners online $150, next to build is the drawer itself

I am in my final year of a millwright apprenticeship and I love sheet metal but after doing all of the sheet metal book yea not so much hahaha I have found that if you can't make things perfect make them adjustable lol

Yep, that sounds about right. At the end of the day it's sheet metal fabrication, not aerospace engineering.

Are you worried about obstructions in the track jamming a roller bearing instead of using a ball bearing that pushes debris to the side?

Well, I understand the idea of trying to save some money and doing it yourself, I don’t see where your version is better than the store-bought version. Store-bought version are full extension within their own length. Yours, in order to achieve full extension, extend the same distance beyond in the back and now interfere with anything he wants to put in the back.

Oh I can totally see how he might want the front or rear space to be stationary empty space. I could mount a compressor and tanks in the front, and or tool boxes that get moved in and out in the rear. Pulling out tool boxes instead of lifting them out of the drawer. A simple pin on the sides could prevent the slide from moving too.

are you going to lock the sliders only with the back fence/door of your truck or do they have a lock system too?

OK, was he happy with the end result? You're right about those draws for your car and how expensive they can be. I have a black widow set up with draws and fridge slides that came with the car. Checked the price and its 3 grands worth. Going to check more of your channel. Cheers

I am happy with it. If I had more room something that could fold a full sheet would be nice. Bang for buck it's been a handy bit of kit. It's a good size for a one man show.

@namtr0

jeez, I feel like videos should not be allowed to use the "DIY" acronym if they are doing it in a shop nicer than most professionals. DIY (if you have a full fabrication shop) Might as well just say, "how to make X if you have access to a fabrication shop", lol. I don't know any DIY who has access to that much equipment who isn't using it for their job/profession.

Good video and I enjoyed it regardless, but I probably waste too much time looking for help that requires a mortgage worth of tools to follow and accomplish what I need.
