Hi Christy! I have been watching your videos for about 3 weeks. I went to my bank and got a personal line of credit one week ago. I am going to start paying credit cards off this weekend! I am so excited and so appreciative of you! I think you explain all of this banking stuff in such a simple way that anyone can can take control of their finances. I truly believe that the Lord led me to your videos. Thank you so much for doing what you do!

Thank you for sharing your experience with velocity banking. I started my journey last week. I noticed in the beginning of the video some people stated they were having trouble finding a PLOC. While searching for one myself, I found out that most the of the large banks no longer offer PLOCs. Also, some of them might night not be able to provide you with a PLOC depending on the state you live in. U.S. Bank for instance does offer a PLOC, however, I was unable to get one because of where I live. This was true for TD Bank as well. However, I was able to find a PLOC at regional banks such as PNC and Truist. For veterans and their families I was informed that Navy Federal and USAA no longer offer PLOCs either. If you’re having trouble finding a PLOC check with some of your local banks, just be mindful that you may have to open a checking account and/or have an active account for 6 months. Hopefully, this will help some of you.

You can basically use a Navy Federal credit card as a LOC. There are no fees on cash advances from your credit card, however, the interest rate is 2% higher than purchase rate interest rate and there is a limit amount on the cash advance (which is less in comparison to your total credit limit on the card). For example, card limit may be $30k but cash advance limit is $9k. There isn't a grace period and interest accrues immediately upon cash advance withdrawal.
@MrDecaturb

@@sassysusie9243 Similarly, as you stated, I used my USAA CC as my debt tool. I did not get a PLOC because I recently purchased a new family vehicle and although I have good credit, my debt to income was too high. But everything worked out. I believe it was meant for me to come across Christy's video a few weeks ago. I was able to take advantage of a 0% balance transfer with convenience checks, on the last day of the promotion. I give thanks to God for that. I was able to pay off a personal loan with a balance of $25k and free up $630 in cash flow. I will be able to pay off the CC with no interest in less than 6 months, and then reapply for the PLOC. Navy Federal may offer convenience checks as well, which may alleviate that cash advance limit.

HELOC interest as it would be used for VB is NOT deductible. HELOC and HE loan interest is only deductible if the funds borrowed are used to "buy, build or substantially improve" the home on which it was borrowed against. If a HELOC met that qualification originally, using it for VB will destroy the deduction. (Each amount of income used to pay the balance down would reduce the qualifying balance and every amount withdrawn to pay bills or pay off other debt becomes non-deductible.)
@sonjamccart1269

@@SweetCaroline40345. There are nuances, particularly if you also have a First Mortgage. If you use your LOC to pay down the mortgage, it is replacement debt.

George Kamel from The Ramsey show just did a video on Velocity banking.... and completely trashed the concept and used one of the worse possible videos on the internet as an example. I have always enjoyed The Ramsey show because it's inspiring to hear the calls and the like minded community with a common goal of being debt free. But the condescending attitudes, continual insistence that it MUST be the Ramsey way.... is really getting old. There are higher levels of financial education that can be beneficial to people, but they are self serving in trying to push their "must be my way" agenda. Keep up the good work!!

@thalinororcbreaker2840
@thalinororcbreaker2840 8 ай бұрын
Yeah, there are certain things I do not agree with that Ramsey pushes. For example, I would not have been able to buy my house at 2.75% in 2020 if I was following Dave to the letter because I would have destroyed my credit, cancelling all my cards, etc. And in the time it took to save up 20% down, the interest rates went through the roof. Instead, I got the best interest rate I could possibly have gotten and put 5% down back in 2020.
@Hadden733
@Hadden733 8 ай бұрын
@@thalinororcbreaker2840 Facts, his method is old school that is meant for people who cannot control themselves as far as spending their money or using credit cards. We all know people that have those type of bad behaviors. Those people need basic structure that first stops swiping and spending, then once they stop that behavior they can be introduced to how to create a budget so they can pay off the debt. Dave's way is not for everybody like a person such as myself, I've never been an over spender and never over used my credit cards I just needed a little bit more help on a budgeting. More less Dave system is not a one. I'll be all system. It's just one way to do things and it's more basic so I'll tell people before they even jump into velocity banking. Maybe they need to look in two Dave systems so they can learn how to make a budget first once they graduate from that then you can come on down to velocity banking. Because if you go over your budget, you can't do velocity banking.

Christy, I may not be able to get a HELOC so wondering about using credit card and accelerating mortgage paydown. If I deposit into my credit card more than I take out, it leaves a positive balance in there. When that is the case, if I make a cash withdrawal, will there be any interest on it? I realize there might be a 5% withdrawal fee, which seems to be a standard with my credit card, but was wondering about the interest in that scenario.

We paid down some of credit cards and still have some funds available. Question what it the difference between a HELOC and PLOC? Can you get both? I am getting ready to open a checking account and attach HELOC. I was given checks with the HELOC too. I have two accounts in two different banks. One account is used for our home and the other account is for personal. Can I just use one account for Velocity Banking?

How is putting your income into the HELOC, resulting in the payment becoming cash flow when they take their payment out and put the rest towards the principal??
@Jesus-kt5dc
@Jesus-kt5dc 6 ай бұрын
It's a mind shift. People look at it like as a payment where the money is gone. Also because of higher interest number (amortize is a higher interest, even if the number is lower). The paradigm shift comes from understanding that the payment is no longer a payment but an income/ balance transfer into your LOC where the money isn't gone, it's just resting on your LOC, working for you by pushing down the ADB (which results in less interest being paid). Hope this helped, have a blessed day.

I think you should use the LOC to chunk down the car note. Then, pay the interest only on the LOC while you pay off the car balance which should be sooner. Then, begin putting the money from the car note back into the LOC when the car is paid off. The car note money you will be putting back into the LOC will then become available to you. Just be disciplined.

No. The game is you go into debt on the LOC and pay it back with minimum payments and maybe some extra pay. As that's profitable for the financial institution. What might happen is, if everyone begins to use it in the VB system that shrinks profit which might force the financial institution to stop providing that product. Have a blessed day.

Whichever one has the higher minimum payment. If you look up AskMeHowIBudget the content creator Molly is amazing with VB with multiple credit cards. I recommend it to you, you seem perfect for her sleeper method. Have a blessed day.

@VanntasticFinances on the page when you asked a few months ago. I think it kept getting deleted. I'm a legit person and I actually watch you alot and knew about velocity banking. I enjoy how you break it down, I don't charge alot because I genuinely want to help people and I have. I want to let you know Credit Repair does exist and it works , but it's a process. Fast isn't always good

Hello Christy. In this video you mentioned (minute 28:35) you have to own a house to have an HELOC account or did you mean, you have to own a mortgage? My question comes up, because Im negotiating a property for $80k putting down $30k refinanced by the owner for 5 years at 5.64% APY, but as you’ve mentioned in other videos that 5.64% becomes 11.28%, double or even more. This property needs around $25k to remodel it. So, I will need more than $50k. Can I apply or get an HELOC account for $50k to pay off the $50k to the owner, because she is not willing to wait 5 years? Actually, I don’t have a mortgage. My house is paid off. My Monthly Income is $3,700, my monthly expenses are $2,162.48, my Cashflow is $1,537.52 Or, Is there any other suggestions for me? Thank you in advance.

You could start with the car ...gaining that monthly payment as cash flow...then move on to the mortgage.

How can I pay down $30,000 in debt without a credit line or credit card to pay for it? This is all credit card debt and on that to the limit.

Put cashflow, credit expenses and low fee utilities on the credit card. Cash expenses and high fee utilities leave in checking account.

Put more money on the balance. Do not just pay the minimum. Be disciplined with the card. Actually, do not charge anything over $20 monthly. This will show activity to keep the card open and the company happy. As you pay off the card, the company will entice you with increased credit. Tell them you don’t want it. This is their trick to mentally trick you into charging more and keeping you a debt slave. Discipline, discipline, discipline!

I have videos in the Playlist under Credit Card Strategies. ALWAYS take the credit card limit INCREASES! You have the discipline to not use it. That does nothing but make your credit stronger.

Using debt to pay off debt is probably the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard of

Debt is used to pay off debt all the time but usually with refi's (like on mortgages) or from a debt with a higher interest rate to a lower interest rate, especially a lower fixed rate. You might be right about where the interest rate is from lower to higher rate debt. Looks costly to me.
