[LIVE] Shiny Totodile after 4,460 SRs in Pokémon Crystal VC + Evolutions (Dark Theme DTQ #1)

The spooky season is near... And with that comes a brand new DTQ to dive into! Here is my first team member of my Dark Theme DTQ, Totodile!
Hey guys! I really wanted my first ever gen 2 DTQ to be something special since its my all time favorite generation. And after a lot of thought and research I found that doing a full "Dark Theme DTQ" would be something perfect for the job!
As I mention in the video I absolutely LOVE dark type Pokemon. Thus I thought it'd be a cool idea to pay tribute to them in the generation that they debuted in! The nice thing about crystal is that for a few of the dark type Pokemon, their encounter rates are boosted which makes them much more viable to hunt. Which was partly the main reason I chose to hunt in Crystal as oppose to Silver or Gold.
Totodile may not be a dark type, but oh boy does he look like one. And that is why he is the first member on my Dark Theme DTQ!

dude I started watching your videos 3 weeks ago and it inspired me to buy an authentic copy of silver and start SR for Totodile. I got it an hour ago after a week and a half, and 2500 soft resets. unbelievably happy !!

I love the Toto line's shininess colors. So good man. Congrats on the epic shiny and the only other reason why Feraligatr is on here is because the whole line can learn bite which is a dark type move to start with.

Very excited for this DTQ, lots of incredible targets! Feraligatr is an excellent choice for a dark dream team in gen 2! I'm over 10k into a reclaim hunt for Totodile after an unfortunate save wipe from before I had a cart backup tool, but I've reclaimed 6/8 of the shinies I lost, so it's gonna be very very nice to see the little gator shine! I'm a little over 6k into a Sneasel hunt as well, one of my favourite pokemon of all time for sure, and seriously an S-tier shiny in gen 2, so can't wait to see how your hunt goes!

Super cool theme quest Avery! Btw quick question how did you make the grayscale filer on the animated sprites look extremely nice in OBS. I tried this a while back and it looked really bad so I had to make 2 separate pngs in gimp with one having the grayscale effect and the other without. Congrats on the Totodile on Crystal! Extremely criminally under hunted and deserved to be hunted more since it looks amazing in gen 2!

Thanks, Pale! You’re going to want to right click on the gif/png in obs > filters > add filter > add color correction > turn saturation down to 0. If you ever want to get it back to the normal color, just open the filter again and click on “default” to set it to the original presets. Let me know if that works!

I have a question. By the time you go to check the totodile's hp say it is 20 what do your odds of it being shiny become. If its 1/8k at the start then ruling out the 12.5% female gender then checking the hp ruling out 21. If its at 20 what are the odds of it being shiny at that point

1/8192. Ruling out the 21 hp and male doesn’t change the fact that every male with 20 hp has a 1/8192 chance.
