Sadly i can’t tell exactly because i didn’t do it constantly but i think in general it took around 4000-6000 sr, my friend is actually grinding too, he had it in 900-1000 sr but skipped it because of the excitement now he is on the 2. journey and he is around 11k now without success

This has always been one of my dream playthroughs of gen 2. I started a shiny fire mono playthrough of heartgold and ended up hunting other types after I got the shiny Cyndaquil. Good luck on your journey, looking forward to your future reactions!

Cyndaquil and Typhlosion are my favorite pokemon! I dont like shiny hunting much but I forced myself to do a shiny hunt for him on Pokemon Soul SIlver. Was worth it and I got so excited when I saw it shiny! congrats on your shiny.

Funny story, I got Crystal on VC so I could get a shiny Celebi but then got caught up in hunting for a shiny Totodile, I hunted for two days before getting bored and hunting other things and then forgot about the hunt for a year before remembering it and hunting for all of a couple hours before finding it. I am now finally hunting the Celebi (though not as much I should because I have so many other hunts going on.

I agree, it looks great. It's a really low % in Gold and Silver though (5% max!) & I opted for Magmar looks incredible in Gen 2 as well. Crystal is the game for Houndour.

Congrats, what an amazing shiny! And getting it in your childhood copy always feels even better. I am curious though, how did you go about recording a GBC game from the original cart? I know with the VC versions it's just a matter of getting a 3DS capture card, but since the DS doesn't work with GBC games, how did you record this one? Did you dump the rom and save files from the cart and play it on an emulator, or does you modded gameboy have a capture card of some sort?

Confused....if the DV's dictate a shiny for starters, then shouldn't starters with the same stats be shiny? Like I'm shiny hunting Cyndaquil in Crystal and have the same HP, Att, Def, Sp. Att, Sp Def and spd as the Shiny Cyndaquil in the video. But my cyndaquil isn't shiny, shouldn't I have the same DV spread as his shiny Cyndaquil?

No. The Pokemon's internal values are still varied. The odds are 1/8192 for a shiny. If it were simply a case of matching the stats, the odds would be less than 1/200.
