I love liver and onions. When I was growing up they bought baby calve's liver fresh from the butcher's market. They cooked it on top of the stove like you did after dusting it with flour. The onions were caramelized and the liver was so tender. I also remember my mom and grandmother saying liver had iron in it and it was good for me.

I remember my granny telling me she was anaemic after the birth of one of her children and she had to eat chopped raw liver and raw onions, the liver was for the iron and the onion was to make it more palatable! 🤢

Liver and onions is my husband's favorite. I fry my onions first, in lard and bacon grease. Set aside, fry the liver, don't overcook, add the onions back in and founder, lol. Chicken livers are bad to pop and burn you but we love all types of liver. I use flour and a little cornmeal, salt and pepper. Cast iron is a must. With mashed potatoes! Yummy!!

I love liver and onions. This was my husbands favorite meal. I lost him three years ago in July. He was always anemic so I cooked it often. However, I made your corn dip for the first time. O my gosh. We put the corn dip in our baked potatoes. That is the best thing I have ever eaten. I sure do love you...

I absolutely love liver and onions! I like chicken livers cooked in bacon grease with onions and make a bacon gravy and add your chicken livers and onions to that bacon gravy with bacon bits over your white rice or mashed potatoes and you will want to eat the whole pan! Lol. It's that good!

My dear mother made liver and onions on occasion too. But me and my brothers weren’t big fans. Me especially. I was the princess and so she’d do something on the side for me. I grew up eating liver and onions, love it. My husband had never eaten it until we started dating. He loves it as good as I do, with mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. My boys all love it, but my daughter won’t touch it with a 10 foot pole. As they were growing up, I told them it was country streak. She ate it until her older brother told her the truth. Lol.

I coat mine with egg and breadcrumbs and bake in the oven with my onions and my kids would only eat it that way. My mom use to make it the same way as you do. My favorite dish.

I am dying laughing here! I grew up in Ireland, my daddy for a midweek meal would make ribs and cabbage or liver and onions, the gravy made from that is the tastiest meal I've ever had, plus my dad would make it with hand cut fresh crispy fries, the flavour was like no other!

My grandma also made liver hash. She boiled the liver, then diced it. In an iron skillet she put diced onions, diced potatoes and the diced liver with water and cooked it down til the taters were done - with a thickening of flour and water. Oh so good over biscuits or light bread.

We had a little stray dog when I was a kid, he was smart as a whip! He was always trying to talk! Mama would feed him Oscar Mayer liver loaf for his treat, so he heard her say it every day. One dayafter we had liver and onions for supper, mom put what was left in the pan down for him. I walked in and saw him eating out of a skillet and asked him, "Whatcha eating?" and he turned around and said, "Wiver woaf!" I fell flat on my butt in shock! Lucky there were people in the kitchen when it happened and they heard him or I would have thought I lost my marbles!

Add some slices of apples slices (sautéed in butter and some sugar) and you have the traditional Liver Berlin style. We eat it with mashed potatoes. Soooo good!

Besides the bitter taste I couldn't swallow as a kid, learning of organs- the liver filters out toxins, so I'm ok with others enjoying whatever they like to eat, but liver isn't for me. Maybe it's a required taste. Somehow I would eat a raw oyster on a cracker with cocktail sauce with my Dad. Now I wouldn't eat them raw, but maybe steamed in garlic butter. 😋
