I have cirrhosis too. I have been taking Milk Thistle regularly everyday for 3 yrs in fairly high amounts. Along with other supplements and I am doing well. The very fact that our livers are operating under duress; is a prime reason for giving the liver extra nutrients that it may not be harvesting everything possible from food. A surpreme clean, non-processed food diet I believe is essential. Your counter-opinioned friend.

Hey I think discussion is good. I’m not saying don’t take it. Just what I have found. Where you use it and have a good result I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. I just believe research is important. And everyone’s situation is different. And body’s. 2 years ago I had a 28 meld score. Now I’m between 14 and 16. I did it by a good diet and stayed active and positive. Thank you for your insight on the discussion 😊

Thank you Neil, for your thoughtful information. You are doing very well making it this far. I hope you get the neurological help soon. Neurological issues are frightening - for example having intense pain with no physical damage related. We are so used to pain being a response to injury, when it can just be a "wiring" issue in the brain! Where I live I am also very alone, all the friends I made here left or died, my closer friends are people who are far away. Contacts often struggle to relate to that level of alone... I also have my sweet pets. ♥ Best wishes from me here in NZ.

I look at the back of packages to see what’s got the best protein and compare that to price. Greek yogurt is a good source. Don’t know if you can have that. Rice pudding. Some cheeses.

Milk thistle is in the aster or sunflower family. This is a huge family of plants, with over 1,600 genera and 23,000 species. Ragweed is a very distant relative. Milk thistle is more closely related to artichoke. This is like saying don’t eat tomatoes, because tomatoes are related to nightshade plants, which are poisonous. This is irrational reasoning and should be discounted.

I won't touch it! No processed canned or frozen products dinners soups etc. I eat fresh fruits and frozen berries I do drink milk simply because it's a great replacement for electrolytes and for some reason I crave it and I never used to I drink zero alcohol because that's how I got this way I do not drink any juices I do drink some homemade coffee and I drink green tea And other teas I do use honey It may seem like a really restricted diet but I don't feel that way I also make my own popcorn for fiber and I use no seed oils Only olive oil and avocado oil My doctor is just blown away about how good all of my numbers look even though I still have cirrhosis the only thing that is off in my panel is I do have thrombocytopenia low red blood cell count which is common in cirrhosis so I have to be careful about getting cut or taking herbs that can thin my blood even further I am also having glucose problems so I am pre-diabetic for some reason I stay away from ibuprofen I limit any Tylenol intake I do take thiamine which is recommended by my doctor vitamin d and k And a multivitamin I am required to take lactulose every single day to keep my ammonia at a normal level I was diagnosed almost 2 years ago and have not had one sip of alcohol sense but I was in the hospital for 2 weeks and they thought I was going to die It took me approximately 6 months to even be able to drive a car or walk properly that's how sick I was I had been a drinker since 12 years old and so it's 62 is when I completely stopped I will be 64 the end of this month and it's the best time I've ever had in my life I do have itching problems but it's nothing like it used to be every so often they will put me on cholestyramine for a few months and then the itching goes away and I stop taking it again Thank you for your video I really appreciate it!!

@kimgee94 ай бұрын
@@Redneckkenobi Yes, I thought that about the green tea for me too. But then every time I have all of my panels done my numbers have been coming up really good including my liver enzymes My meld score is a 9 now I watched it slowly drop over the past two years and I was super ecstatic the last time he told me that I'm at a 9. I have been to University of Washington with the transplant team and my numbers are so good right now that I would not even qualify nor need a transplant Although just like they tell you things can change rapidly and that's why they want people to have that initial visit. I know that you have to be super careful about not getting salmonella Because a liver with cirrhosis could not fight it I'm also very leery about any cut up fruit from the produce section cantaloupe spinach anything bagged like the bagged salads if you look at the list of the items that have recalls because of salmonella in the produce sections those are all the things I avoid. I know it probably seems a little obsessive but I'd rather be on the safe side of the street, and after all of the recalls I decided to take that path And yes when you talk about there could be other conditions I totally understand that because I also have a heart condition called HFpef Which I don't think had anything to do with the cirrhosis so I understand that co occurring condition issue. I think it's really awesome that you created this channel because when I first was diagnosed I had so little information that I had no idea what I was doing I think you're very level-headed in the way that you discuss cirrhosis. There are just some standards that anyone who's had it for any period of time just know. And then there are those things that you learn along the way They did finally inform me that because of cirrhosis there is a higher chance of getting liver cancer and so I am screened every 6 months for that and have an ultrasound. I always tell people there may be things that help someone that has fatty liver disease which is what most people have before they get cirrhosis And possibly a cleansing diet would work for that but once you get cirrhosis it's a whole different ball of Wax. I know people want to help but sometimes I just have to tell them that I'm working with my doctor and things are going good 😆
