(Roughly) 1989-92 was a good era for English club kits. Strong basic designs that were similar to the 1980s classics but a bit bolder, with touches like the silver shading on Liverpool's kit, the feathering on United's blue kit etc, that were modern but not overbearing. Then in 1992 everything got very baggy and "big". The designs from the early Premier League era haven't aged well at all, but kits like the ones in this clip still look great.

If only. What many people forget, is how many games Liverpool had to play in the week of the Arsenal game. Firstly, they played the FA cup final, which went to extra time, in 100% heat(i was there, and it was like a furnace), extra time on the strength sapping Wembley turf, and the sheer emotion of the victory after Hillsborough. Secondly, they played West Ham on the Tuesday, who wre fighting relegation, and fought for their lives, Liverpool won 5 - 1. Then the Arsenal game on the Friday. Why Friday, why could the Football League not give the club and extra day. I will always remmember the words of the late, great Brian Moore, who commentated on the game. When asked about the game, he said" I think that Liverpool simply had nothing left in the tank, i believe, that they are the most talented squad in the country".
