I'm from the U.S. and ride a 'busa and ZX14R, but I really enjoyed watching the adventure bikes in the remote areas of Australia. It's always sad for me to hear of motorcyclists losing their lives. Those of us that survive will ride on and remember them fondly.

The 3 deaths aren't the riders they are tourist elderly people and the temperatures in this part of the region & year get very warm this end of winter coming in spring August September still in the 30s drinking water is essentia as offset ofl dehydration is a serious issue when you walk away from your car not carrying water. Mt Augustus is the largest Monolith rock in the world next is Uluru in the Nth Territory.

Right up front, I've never been to Australia, but from all the things I've seen, Australia has some beautiful places for motorcycle riders to navigate and enjoy. But Australia also has some places that I would never go alone on a motorcycle, and likely not in a 4-wheeler either. It could be a death sentence. Preparedness is a must, and being resourceful sure doesn't hurt. But of all the possibilities, that "driving on the left side of the road" would be the death of me. 😂 Injuries and flat tires aside, it looked like an awesome ride. ~GREAT FOOTAGE!~

Hi Kentucky Justice, Australia is Adventure Riding utopia...we have it all. Deserts, rainforest, beaches, the High Country (Australian Alps) and everything in between...all while no passport required. You don’t have to take too many chances to enjoy an Adventure Ride in Oz but I’m attracted to the harsh beauty of the Outback. Glad you like the vid.

Amazing footage, love the drone shows a different perspective. Great places, brings back some good memories. Sorry about Neal hope he has a speedy recovery that brought back some not so good memories. One trick re seating the bead on the tubeless tyres in case you are not aware of it. In the army I saw unimog drivers reseat the balloon tractor tyres by looping the winch cable around them. I scaled this down by using a thin ratchet strap on the 1150. Takes a couple of goes to position properly sometimes but it pushes the sidewalls out and makes it a hell of a lot easier. Thanks again for taking us along on your adventure
@mongreldogproductions

Hi TR, we tried that (straps) a couple of times to no avail. I had CO2 cylinders as well to try and give it that initial boost of air. In the end, it was easier to travel the ten km to the nearest Homestead in the hope they could seal it for us. Thanks for watching.

Yep it took me a few goes I will admit and I only tried it on the conties. If I had an alternative I would have used it also but I was a couple of hundred ks from a compressor. I also tried Over-pressuring the front tyre and connecting it with a hose from a kit I had to the rear but that did not work for me. Now experimenting with tubliss, see how it goes. Glad to see I am not the only one that tries to make his tyres last 10k 😂

Great video sir, really shows the desolation of the outback. I am a great believer in the good old tube tyres for remote riding, there are times when tubeless are just not up to the task. Yes they are easy to fix if you get a hole but as you showed not if you get a few, the biggest problem I find is breaking the bead, just to put a tube in, tube type tyres are so much easier. Just an opinion and maybe food for thought.

I saw an interesting method, I think it was from FortNine, for setting a bead on a tubeless tire. He had a hose with a valve stem fitting on each end and a valve in the middle. Connect one end to each wheel and open the valve. If it doesn't work the first time, put more pressure in the good tire and try again.

Geez Ross, I dunno. It sounds like the sort of thing you’d have to practice at home to get it right. I’m not sure there would be enough ‘oomph’ to get the tyre to seal. Worth tryin’ I guess. Thanks for watching.

Next time you think you may have to set a bead, make sure you have a ratchet strap with you. Set the strap around the center of the tread and tighten. Compressing the center of the tread pushes the sidewalls out and setting the bead becomes a snap.

16:40 ... I had a TKC80 and learned the hard way on the Dempster Hwy that there was not nearly enough thickness on the tread between the knobs to take a plug. Then, my silly bicycle tire patches would not completely stop the leak. Tubes not an option due to (I know, not an ADV bike) F800ST stems. Was kicking myself for not getting better patches -- though days later at Eagle Plains even the very competent garage mechanic with an air burring tool and truck patch couldn't stop that leak. Thankfully, had a spare road tire, a Michelin Pilot Road 4 GT the gents at the Bike Shoppe in Edmonton had recommended -- AWESOME TIRE - went up & down BOTH the Dempster & Dalton on a severely over-packed bike (1,100 lbs including rider) -- AWESOME ROAD TIRE. 19:15 ... Wry grin hit my face, mate. I carry a 2nd set of Motion Pro irons -- otherwise my F800ST beads simply cannot be broken with irons -- also -- didn't see it in this very excellent video -- thank you once again for the hard work & sharing -- perhaps you had tried a ratchet strap around the tire to help set the bead? ... Back on the Dempster, not even two hefty ratchet straps cinched down to the max could help set the bead on my Edmonton Michelin, a method that had worked successfully with my other road tires, a trick an old boss & dear friend had taught me. Then, after the Yukon grizzly left that had stopped by for a visit (true dat), somewhat exhausted I paused and looked at the fat little Michelin Man icon on the sidewall and asked: What's your secret? ... Then it dawned on me: try a little finesse (French?) with your brute force. So I tried using only one ratchet strap, cinched fairly lightly, while carefully lining up the tire beads evenly along both sides of the rim's interior, and, voila!, those oh so satisfying bead pops! "Grab yer gear"!!

Fear not Lucy Mooch. It depends on which way the dust trail blows. If we know we are gunna get covered in dust, often we will make a very obvious change in direction to the opposite lane. Most drivers get the idea pretty quick. If there is any risk then we would just pullover to the right if the driver doesn’t quite get the hang of it. Thanks for watching.

Such a shame you couldn't have gone up to Cotton Creek and beyond. Went up the Tallawana in the early Eighties and camped at Cotton Creek before there was an Outpost there. I found caves that still had rounded Quartz stones used for grinding ochre in neat pairs/different colours and Spears resting upright on the cave walls. Left there by our brothers when they were exited by the authorities to use their land for a crash site for rockets released from Woomera in SA. Some nice natural pools up there to swim in and the Cotton Creek had plenty of pools along its way to the Rudell as well. I never touched the artifacts/hope they remain but Mining has happened up that way now so ..... ? Camel Country and Gold if your looking. Lasseters Lost Reef is still out there I believe. And I think I know where. Lake Disappointment is a disappointment but everywhere before it is amaaaazing! Check out the Bull Finches for water. Where they fly off to is where it is. Cheers

Hi Titanium308, thanks for your interest in the vid and your comments. Without sounding too cocky, this was not my first Rodeo and i have been around the block once or twice. I take sensible precautions and size up the risks with any ride. I have systems in place and my rides are monitored by friends and family who can track my rides in real time. I also carry sufficient food and water to last me days if i strike trouble. I always carry a PLB and on some rides i carry a satellite phone. On this occasion i did not feel that i was in any real danger. The other reason that i find myself on my own is that other Riders are not always available to go for extended rides due to work of family commitments. I'm not gunna stay at home and watch daytime TV just because others are not in a position to share my passion. Thanks for watching. I hope you continue to enjoy future vids.

Hi MC, when you ask “what model bikes are you guys on” who are you referring to? Shane and I or the 30 other riders? Suzuki DR400 and DR 650’s are very popular as Adventure Bikes here in Oz and have proven to be very reliable with relative simple technology but they do need some basic mods to make them suitable for Outback travel. There was a whole mixed bag of bikes on this ride ranging from a 250 thru to BMW R1200’s and big KTM’s. The mid range bikes (400-700cc) are the most popular. Thanks for watching.
