Amigos, you must try the delicious typical food from Yucatan! You must go to the corner " plazas "y tomar una deliciosa cerveza Montejo, while listening live music, and I don't know if there still exist the bar "La Prosperidad". So enjoy everything in that wonderful city!

First food items I always get in a new town are refried beans, tortillas, cheese, salsa, and some kind of prepared meat like ham, if you have a microwave those will make a decent meal, and OXO usually stocks all. Next are chicken, potatoes or rice and some kind of veg, if you have a pot and stove, easy to prepare...

If you are going to a big supermarket anywhere in Mexico like Walmart / Soriana / Comercial Mexicana / Bodega Aurrera they usually have 1 or 2 days of "fruits and vegetables". In those days (Tuesday, Wed, Thurs depending on the supermarket) one can find a better quality of vegetables and even cheaper. Any other day or the week is a 50/50 chance. There are also fruterías like "La negrita" as a good option for buying that.
@irvingguerreroartista6 жыл бұрын

For ground turkey try Superama.. It's from the Walmart family but "fancier". You'll definitely find some imports there. If you get back to the Bajio, there's an HEB in Leon and that's where I buy small packs of frozen ground turkey, Butterball brand.

THe Supe ISSTE is a supermarket operating with federal funds, so it is subsidized :) Makes easier for people with low wages or numerous families to cover their basic needs. Or at least it is supposed to help, although it is like putting bandaids to a crack on a massive Dam: it is appreciated, but it will probably not be enough. Thank you for your videos, love ya!

Bienvenidos a mi ciudad!! Guys, there's a Soriana in 56x63y65, and the main market (Lucas de Galvez) in the 56x65y67. I bet you can buy what you need there, and sure will be cheaper than Walmart. Our food is based on pork, but you can find dishas made of turkey (Pavo en relleno negro, mi amor!!). Go the the cantinas, I recommend "El Cardenal" (63x70 centro) and "La Negrita" (62x49), there you get antojitos yucatecos for free if you order a beer. Sounds like a great plan for a hot day (everyday, basicly). We have beaches that are only 30 minutes away from Merida. Progreso is the nearest and biggest, but definetely not the prettiest. Hope you have the best time in Merida! I'm always proud when the tourist leave faacinated with our culture, food and people!

If you need something 100% yucateco and you haven't been there, be sure to visit the mercado Lucas de Galvez. It's on the 56 street between 65 and 67. Also near that mercado, there's the Piñatas bazar, just ask "¿Dónde es piñatas?" and any local should know.
