curious fact: açaí is NOT traditional food in most states of Brazil. It arrived in Sao Paolo when I was 13, and it seemed completely strange to me. Original açaí from Pará is NOT sweet. There there's the tradition of eating it with fried fish. It was a marketing strategy to sell sweet açaí with lots of toppings around the country and worldwide.

I didn't know that, i thought it grew all over brazil naturally. I prefer the natural acai thats not sweet, as long as you add some other fruits to a smoothie it tastes great

This time of New Year's Eve is when it rains the most in the city, after which the weather stabilizes and it becomes more sunny. It doesn't rain like that the whole year, from March the weather starts to change in the city.

Mate, your videos are great. Don't give up on us! The language barrier can be tough but it's not our fault: for decades the english taught at school was and in some still is a joke. We learn like "to be", "thanks" and "please". But most people here are eager to make friends with foreigners, pretty sure you'll be making lots of friends pretty soon!

Morango is strawberry - Maracujá is passion fruit - in the stores these are big and yellow orange and kinda egg shaped but bigger :) I’m in Argentina now but will be coming back to Brazil in just 6 weeks. Since we’re both doing the same sort of travel it seems, i keep watching your videos and enjoying your perspective - I even decided to subscribe to your channel. Thanks for all this and keep working at Portuguese! Actually curious if you have any experience with tutors or some other intensive process to learn? I think my PT is still better than your but quite often people can’t understand me, or I can’t find what I bc am looking for in Portuguese and have to try Spanish.., and I would be interested in an intensive class or something to increase the gains when I come back.

Those houses can easily cost over 1 million US$ depending on the size, because they are in a noble area (and because everything in SP is overpriced). But the most expensive ones are in closed condos, you can't reach them through regular streets. They hire private security and you have to be identified in order to get in.

Açaí is from the North region, especially Pará. I used to live in a neighboring state to Pará, and then I had my first açaí experience there back in 2007 when I think açaí became more popular nationwide. However, my best experience was in São Paulo lol btw, Portuguese is much more required outside Sao Paulo state, probably you'll notice it in northeast Brazil. There are cities that you can find many English speakers, mainly in capitals, such as Recife. However, not really. I;'d suggest you to pay a visit to Maceió, the most beautiful beaches I've ever visited, and the food is amazing.
@md_coelho1499

Ninho is actually a brand, but it's one of those things, people start calling powdered milk by the brand name because it became freaking popular. But if you want to speak 100% correct, you should be saying: leite em pó (milk in powder, literally)

@@MarsellisTravels No problem! Oh, I see. Have you heard about Jalapão? It's in Tocantins state. Maybe you can go there after Pará, cuz of relative proximity. it's one of the must-see attractions. Anyhow, so much to explore in Brazil! Congratz on advancing in Portuguese. I know learning languages can be daunting. I've tried to learn English, German and Spanish so far, and it's hard. I have more familiarity with English, but I still struggle, so I can relate :) I'm currently living in Gainesville/Fl, btw. But probably I'll move elsewhere by June depending on work offers. Didn't you have to buy a third ticket to get back?
