Devon Montoya illegal immigrants can't receive government aid in the first place, and don't try to argue otherwise, because it's been disproven so many times. But the vast majority of immigrants - legal AND illegal - are here to work and to provide for their families. They aren't here for a free ride from the government, and that's something most bigoted assholes will never understand. This is a country that was literally built on immigration, but these days, people want to shut everything off and keep things closed, which will only hurt the economy of our nation, and of your community. ALL IMMIGRATION is a good thing economically, regardless of how or why they got here.

The math in these videos never make any sense. She’s 22-I graduated May 2018 at 22, so let’s assume she graduated one year ago. Her car payment is $70. With no cash down and ASSUMING NO INTEREST, a standard 60 mo payment on a $17k car is $283. Well over $300 with interest, unless she put like $13k down on the vehicle. She also paid $9k in visa/travel fees over a year. If she did put the $13k down and paid the other $9k out of pocket, she’s looking at $22k. Not sure if savings includes 401k. If her tax rate is in the low 20s, it’s feasible, but I double it given how much she paid in taxes for her freelancing business. Assuming 401k is separate from savings, it would take 2.5yrs to save enough to achieve that low car payment and pay all visa and travel fees. Just the $9k would take a year to save at $730/mo.

And immigrating legally to the US is pretty hard. She lacks the qualifications as a new head to be eligible for a green card and no one outside of IT sponsors anyone. Though you could buy a house for $500,000 and buy a green card.
@AskMiko5 жыл бұрын
Her parents don't have to be rich to send her to college outside Australia. They obviously taught her to manage money well and they likely had a college fund for her. She mentioned she always wanted to attend college in the U.S. so her parents likely kept this in mind. Also considering she still has visa status, she may have easily obtained U.S. residency status (you need this for the visa) and in college can convert to paying in-state fees vs. international fees (due to residency; not citizenship).
@AskMiko5 жыл бұрын
@@zeitgeistx5239 Her sponsorship is harder because she's already here. Also, if her company is helping her, they may reimburse after-the-fact to ensure the legalities are in order. I'm seeing this more and more nowadays. She went after it on her own (something she can write off on her taxes) so that it isn't contingent on the existing employer's funds. Glad the video showed the other side of immigration. The costs to come to the U.S. often more than filling out a form (as shown in TV shows and movies).

She does well with saving and managing her expenses. $55k in LA is not easy. Her expenses also actually tie in to her after-tax income, unlike a lot of these where there's a huge gap of luxury spend they didn't want to disclose.
@kambo5275 жыл бұрын
Something seems a bit off with the information in this video. First of all, we know that her annual salary is $55k/yr (actually $50k because the other $5k is as an independent contractor). We also know that she apparently contributes about $333/month to her 401K. If we plug these numbers into a paycheck calculator (taking into account the fact that she's a California resident) we find that her net pay after taxes and contributions should be about $1,456 bi-weekly. In other words, her monthly take-home pay is roughly $2,912 which is about $360 less than her monthly spending budget of $3,275 shown at 1:06. So unless her parents or some other person/people are supporting her spending habits it appears that the facts presented in this video are bogus. And on top of that she somehow has $15K sitting in a savings account and managed to spend $17K on a new car?? Now if her income is $55K AFTER taxes and contributions then the facts presented in this video are obviously more believable. But if that's actually the case then the title of this video is a bit misleading because salaries are usually presented in terms of gross pay before factoring in any taxes/contributions.
@P0k3D0nd3M4cG5 жыл бұрын
Or she's not reporting her State and or Federal taxes correctly. We make the same and my monthly spending allowances (barring the two three check months in the year) is around $3203 with 2 allowances state and 1 allowance Fed. If she's really putting in that much into her 401k, her biweekly take-home would be ~$1268. One check would barely cover her portion of the rent, not including utilities. I don't see how she only spends ~$500 a month with a $17k car note, insurance (which should be around $150 minimum for full coverage for someone her age living in SoCal), and food and other fees like gas (which is ~$4 a gallon). I hate these videos because they don't give you the full picture and sell people false financial expectations
