Well, I guess it depends on what you mean by bored, I get bored during rainy season if I can't go out for a couple days, because I do not watch TV and I like to keep as active as possible. If I do find myself getting bored on living on Fantasy Island, LOL I take a trip to somewhere,,,,, There is so much to do here that I can't see myself ever truly getting bored. Look I worked like a dog sometimes 70-80 hours a week, being able to do nothing is an amazing luxury! I do find spending too much time just lounging around the pool can get boring,,,,,,,, I KNOW THE STRUGGLE IS REAL LOL Hope this answers your question. Cheers Mate

I totally believe you can eat well on $300USD per month even though I have never been to Thailand. I believe it because I can easily eat well on less than $300USD (approx $450AUD) per month here in Australia and I have done so for years now. The big difference is I can rarely eat out on that budget. I have to shop at the supermarket and cook at home. AND my diet is somewhat limited to what I can cook so I am certainly not eating amazing food like Dr. Mark.

Not a hobo, just a typical cheap Canadian. I could have retired at 40 with $8500/mo in passive income and 3M in Investments but I would never do it because I love what I doas much or more than vacationing. After 1 week of R&R I'm looking to get back to my 6 day/week schedule. I even work 4 or 5 hours a day when visiting countries like Thailand and Cuba et. Street food is some of the worst food you can eat. I watched a street vendor in China wash out his Wok in gutter water, who knows what diseases you'll get, the quality and freshness of the food and the way it is stored is a huge concern. Why risk getting extremely sick to save a few dollars??

Yep, you're pretty right with the prices here, Mark. (I was a high school Maths teacher in an earlier life, so I can do the arithmetic when in Thai). I very rarely spend more than 1000 US per month in South East Asia, except of course in Singapore, which I also like. You've got to watch it with booze though, if you're drinking in go-gos, especially on Phuket and up in Pattaya or Bangkok. Bar-beers at happy hour still have very cheap drinks however. I would say that the expense of female company is really the one you've got to watch if you want to keep the costs down. Newbies are advised to avoid subsidizing the wench's extended family. This is easier said than done because these alluring ones are masters, or rather mistresses, at lightening your wallet, and for them the family is all....

I drive a 2000 Honda Civic 4dr. It's got 156k miles. The belts make noise. I've had the belts in the trunk for a year, just haven't gotten around to changing them. I work as a mechanic in a factory, so I'm doing ok. The car belonged to my mother before she died, so it's sentimental. It's pretty funny to watch the young kids go out and buy the fanciest pimped out set of wheels. We all did it when we were 20-something.

Yeah idk why tacos are so damn expensive. Found that weird as well. Taco Loco has some decent quesadillas for a good price. But I’ve found their hard shell tacos sub par. Shells are too hard and kinda stale. Next time I’m at Big C I’ll have to see if they have tortillas and make my own soft tacos.

How much do you need to save up to live the life you're living?

Hey Tech Guy, Honestly that is a very hard question for me to answer. There are several factors to consider,,,,, How old are you would be the first one,,,, I am now 50 and I hope to live 30-40 years. No male in my direct family has ever lived past 64,,,, that's not promising LOL Knowing how I live and that I like nice things for myself (What I mean is that I buy top quality items that will last a lifetime) and that I love to travel I worked out how much I would need to spend a certain amount of money each year until I died if I had ZERO INCOME! Now to be fair I do have income from my investments and that is what I live off of each month. I invested in a monitored equity fund with IG in Canada, and I receive a set amount from the dividends each month. I am not working at all anymore. I did plan to do some consulting and coaching work, but I just don't want to. I also own rental property, but I DO NOT touch the money from that. I save that for when prices increase down the road, plus I live a great life on my current budget. When I hit 60 (which I will) I will start receiving my CPP (Canada pension) and then when I hit 65 (I BETTER MAKE IT) I will get my Old Age Security pension from the government. I would say that if you live here in Southeast Asia and do not spend like crazy on booze drugs or women,,,,,,,,,,, 25k USD a year will be more than plenty to accommodate for emergency's that will arise We all live different lives, I've had all the bullshit possessions that people think they need to be happy,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, they never made me happy Experiences are what make me happy and feel fulfilled Hope this helps Cheers Mate

I have done a video tour of my unit here I will go back and try and find a link to it for you.. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iImqaZybedR7Zsk to be honest with you I don't spend a lot of time in my room I'm usually on the go quite a bit I'm quite physically active and I enjoy exploring I love getting out doing things... again my life is pretty fantastic I go on a lot of hikes I do a lot of nature stuff I go to the beaches I swim I eat some of the most incredible foods and I go exploring I jump on my bike and I drive sometimes hundreds and hundreds of kilometers just to go and see a park or a waterfall or stuff like this.... again as I have stated in all of my videos I do not spend a lot of time and especially a lot of money at the bars drinking I do drink as I have made it very clear in my video probably too much but I'm drinking at home for the most part or I'm drinking it small restaurants and stuff like this where they're not having these crazy markups on the alcohol.... I would find it very sad if I had to come here and just live the life of a hobo but I'm definitely not living like a hobo I'm living what I honestly consider to be the most amazing life in the world and I wouldn't trade it for anybody's or possibly Andrew Tate's but other than that.... Eating out street food every day is far from healthy, deep fried and bbq food is what street food is all about. Basically it shortens your lifespan just like ciggies do. Can you get by cheaper by buying from supermarkets, i.e cereals for brekki, yoghurts, bread, steaks, etc Another observation, chains like Burger King, Starbucks and any other such place are more expensive than back home, same as burger joints steakhouses, pizza places. You mentioned don bbq buffet for 299thb, that 11 bucks, place opens at 6pm. By that time you had breakfast, lunch, fruits ,coke, beers at 711. It all adds up to $20 at least snd then all drinks you b drinking after tasty BBQ 😂. More realistic minimum daily food/drink budget for average westerner would be $25-30 or 750-900/month. .

I don't eat just street food and I don't eat very much deep fried anything other than chicken.. I never eat at BK MCDONALD'S or any place like that. We have lots of noodle shops and salad options around... As for the stuff adding to to $20 a before Don's,,,, sorry Mate but that's not me and my budget. Hi Mark! I'm with you my friend, I never ever feed or water the local wildlife! I pay, give or take, around 100thb for breakfast. I pay about 130 thb for lunch. Sometimes, I push the boat out and spend approximately 500thb, but that includes starter, main and five beers. All in all, I spend less than 10GBP a day, unless I push the boat out. I know, that I could pay even less. I wouldn't worry about Muppets Mark. Fools and their money etc. I'll be there Saturday the 10th. Lol🤣

Rent , food ,utilities , transportation , are the easy expense items; nothing will destroy even the most well thought out budget faster than meeting that special little honey ( she’s different) that will drain your finances in an instant or the slow drip. That’s probably the biggest mistake guys who first come over here make. Also after you lived here for a while it really is nice to be able to splurge on non Thai meal and nice bottles of wine at least once or twice a month with company. Everyone is on a different budget. 👍👍

We are all on different budgets The reason behind this video was that a local KZbinr tried to shame me because I'm only spending what I am spending,,, I love the restaurants that I eat at,,,, I've never "Enjoyed" fancy restaurants just because they are expensive,,, Some of the most amazing food can be the street food or the stuff from the small pop-up shops around the city. That is what I like to eat.... I'm not into French or Italian cuisine. Extremely yes as I have stated in all of my videos it's the girlfriend aspect that gets you really bad and also going to a bar sitting there buying lady drinks spending two to three times the cost of a beer at 7-Eleven adds up in a hurry. it's all depending on the lifestyle that you wish to live but to shame someone because they're not living some crazy ass lifestyle to me is just foolish... Actually that's a great joke I love it!! we all have different lifestyles we have different things that we enjoy and I'll be honest with you I've had all of the stuff that money can buy and it never brought me any happiness.... However being able to jump on my 3000 Baht scooter and drive through the mountains and through The Valleys here along the shorelines and see the beaches.... to me that's Paradise being able to stop and go for a hike and not have to worry about someone stealing my bike or stealing my helmet or harming me for that matter.... we all have a different version and a different ideal of our best life but don't shame anyone for living theirs just because it doesn't match up with your ideal... i absolutely agree!you dont travel to phuket to eat in Mcdonalds and not enjoy the local street food,you dont go there to drive your new mercedes car instead of having fun with your bike!I cannot imagine what kind of people prefer that things and moreover what kind of people critisize a man who lives happy in his paradise!!!
