I hike into the Australian High Country to a remote timber cabin where I stay the night and spend the next day trout fishing and wild camping. I also get caught out in the rain which made for a very wet and cold night! Super fun trip though. Enjoy.

"The very basic core of a man's living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun." Scotty, this is my dream. I'm speechless. This video is masterful. Happy adventures! Cheers, Domenico.

Hello from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Just a piece of advice. When your cooking potatoes in a pan at first add a little bit of water for them to cook and then later add oil to fry them and give them a nice color.

OMG, my favourite hut in the snowy's. I have hiked there several times, the fist time at around age 13 and we had to cut short our hike because of bushfires on Black Mountain. Love your Snowy films, as someone who sees them as her home even though she lives in Europe now, reminds me of my childhood and how much I miss home (even after more than 20 years).

You’re not allowed to sleep in the hut to preserve the place but you’re allowed to have a FIRE inside a historical timber cottage...LOL makes complete sense 🤣 who came up with these rules? Seriously great episode Scotty. I completely agree with you, all I want is a small cottage on some property and I’d be satisfied.

Because having a small fire in the same stone fire place saves burning the ground in a separate spot every time someone camps at a hut. Folks hiking into these places tend not to be the folk who insist on having a massive fire either, just enough to warm up and maybe cook on.

Nice one mate. One thing I love (and respect) about the Snowy Mountain region is how quickly the weather can change. Years ago on a hike from Kiandra to Kosciuszko with some mates, we went from a sunny and warm blue sky day to a sudden squall of heavy rain in about 30 mins.. (just enough time frantically put our tents up on the side of the track). Reminds me of the scene form 'The Man from Snowy River' when Jessica says "One moment it's paradise, the next it's trying to kill you". :)

Fabulous country, that, the Jangugal Wilderness in Kosciusko NP; that wild country between Kiandra and Khancoban in the Murray watershed. I'm glad to see no evidence of the 2020 bushfires, unlike my favourite part of Kosciusko, the High Plains north of Kiandra in the Murrumbidgee watershed. Barbless hooks on a lure presents a problem, the fish uses the weight of the lure to free itself, but I have a solution - leave the spinning rod at home, take the fly rod and a bunch of flies tied on barbless hooks! Fishing something like a dry Royal Wulf down those glides with a brown nymph on a dropper below would be great fishing. Thanks for a great film, Scotty.

Looked like a Tiger snake for me, fairly common in the KNP, along with Red Belly Blacks, Eastern Browns and Death Adders. Got struck by an Eastern Brown I trod on fishing the upper Eucumbene many years ago; good thing I had my waders on at the time. Lesson - wear gaiters or waders all the time, KNP is the snake capital of NSW.

Beautiful video, place and fishing. I have problems getting fish in with lures as well, but I've been told to set the hook and keep the rod down at 45 degree entire time when you're getting the fish in; as soon you get the rod upwards you will loose the fish. Just a little tip for ya ;)

Scotty mate you've done it again leaving us all speechless at the end of your video. when you hook a trout with barbless just make sure you keep the rod high and let it do all the work instead of just trying to reel it in, only reel it in when you lower your rod tip then bring it back up. Hopefully this tip helps keep it up Scotty.

Wow! I’ve been to wheelers hut maybe 20 years ago. Beautiful place. I always dreaded the barefoot river crossings, rocks are sharp and since you’re trying to balance in flowing water you just have to commit to stepping on the sharp rocks which is so painful! Your video brings back memories. Tons of flies during summer. Lots of snakes too.
