Disabling notifications works amazingly well btw Also- only use social media/ youtube on a desktop or laptop that you can walk away from and it doesn't live in your pocket the vast majority of the time
This is what I've been doing since last year. It worked wonders for me with Facebook and Instagram
@FluppKeyАй бұрын
That's exactly what I did as my most used social media app was by far KZbin and there were plenty of sundays where I stayed for so long in bed while watching numerous videos until I finally took some action and deleted that sh*t. There's no other social media app left on my phone since that day except instagram because you cannot separate your DM's from all the other useless crap you're offered there but I at least turned off all of instagram's notifications except the ones for DM's. I only use KZbin on my computer now, turned off YT Shorts via a chrome extension, and i'm fine with that. It may not be the perfect solution but my consumption of KZbin videos has noticeably declined compared to the amounts i've been watching on my phone before. I'm glad that I at least never got caught by all the equivalents of short videos such as TikTok (yeah yeah, f**k you TikTok!), Reels and Shorts. I hate social media and what it has done to our minds.

FANTASTIC VIDEO! Highlights the issues most of us go through, phone addiction is absolutely real and it’s sad that all ages go through it. Before smartphones, people were genuinely a lot happier and healthier. It’s time to reconnect to the real world that’s around you and not the small screen in your hand. People seem to forget that reality and staring into your smartphone are two different worlds.
@vanessahenderson1850Ай бұрын
I agree. I often sit back and think how happier and how sociable people used to be. How times change and not for the better. I was stood at a bus stop one day last year. I happened to ask some young lasses that were stood there if they knew what time it was. I got no response and as I glanced at them, they all had those stupid ear buds in. The world could have been on fire and they'd have not noticed. Stupid cell phones are the worst thing that ever came out along with social media.
@vaagheerajah6943Ай бұрын
@@vanessahenderson1850 yes, in the world we live in now, ignorance is at a all time high. The constant ping ping ping sounds of those phones from any kind of notification possible. They want us glued to our screens for as long as possible so it benefits those social media apps. If we get something for free (Facebook, instagram ect.) it isn’t actually free and we pay with it with our privacy. Companies sell our data. But, yes going back to what you said just now, all the younger generation are absolutely fixated to their phones and their brains have been just leeched by the phones. I decided not to use my phone and just the my train journey naturally without anything distracting me, that 1 hour break I had from my phone felt so refreshing and I feel like I could focus more.

i was working in a restaurant 10 years ago to put myself through uni, and i remember seeing some parents come in with young kids and often they'd just give the kid a phone/tablet and ignore the child for the rest of the meal. I used to think it was awful. Cos the parents aren't teaching the child how to engage at the dinner table. They're not really teaching them anything at all. And then the child learns that they'd rather be on their fucking phone at the dinner table. I'd shake my head every time, and be told I was being judgemental. Maybe others weren't being judgemental enough :/ cos literacy rates are dropping as a direct result of this 'parenting' style. Got a young child and wanna go out to dinner? Then either find a babysitter or be prepared to have them be a part of a meal :/ don't just leave them to sit with bad distractions because it quietens them. You don't get to have your own life with a young child, and thus hang them like a painting in the background. Every second of their learning counts :/ and they're learning every second even when you're not teaching them. So if you're not teaching them, then what are they learning?

@PhantasmaPlumesАй бұрын
The keeping your phone in another room bit is massive - there's only so much an app timer can do when it's relatively easy to modify it or add crazy amounts of time "for the day." That said, think the thing that helped me the most is having a screen timer on my home screen, as well as setting modes based on where I'm at. Like, if I'm at the office, most of all my apps are disabled so I can focus on my work. Or at 11 PM, my phone "goes to sleep" and makes everything black and white to remind me to start powering down.

it doesn't make any difference if youre still addicted to youtube or social media

Nice work , this video shows that it’s never too late to stop your addiction at something bad for your mental and physical health especially social media addiction which allows u to spend more time in it without knowing effectively how dangerous Is it .

Have we really gotten to the point where our attention spans are too bad even for video games?
@BadaBadgerАй бұрын
When you start switching between many video games in only the span of 20 minutes because you're bored, something's VERY wrong.

Depends on the game. Some games these days layer on mechanics just to make them appear sophisticated, but I don't want to have to take a night class to learn to play a game. Doom was simple but you could play it over and over. Civilization 2 was great and not so complicated as the newer games. SimCity 2000...etc. Basically the greatest games ever made are chess and go, and both have simple rules that evolve into complexity, instead of just hammering you with thousands of details before you start.

I still play rainbow six siege. Best shooter there is. Nothing even comes close. I’m 27 saw lots of games.

My friend still plays games on his 30 year old computer.

@@BadaBadger I can play a game for 2 hours before switching to another one. Never addicted though because I can leave the game whenever I must or if a friend gives a call to hang out.

9 months ago, on December 22nd, 2023, I decided that doom-scrolling wasn't going to take control of my life, so I quit it. Before that day however, I was watching around 400 Shorts per day. 1 week later and it was down to zero. Ever since then I could now watch 30+ min videos and found an Interest too. I suggest you quit too if you hadn't and...just hang in there. Wish you all the best!

I always appreciate how you’re able to put how I’m feeling or what I’m going through in a short film like this. I feel like you and me are going through the same shit dude LOL thanks for these videos I’m currently dealing with doom scrolling too. Not sure if it’s the answer but I started using my Apple Watch more and just really tried to cut back on screen time

After having contact over my phone with mostly unreliable and hurtful real ife contacts i deleted all shit from it, use the plane mode almost all day and instead watch youtube on PC. SUCCESS!

My advice: You don't need to make a big show of turning bad habits around, just start improving; even its a little bit at a time.

Question. Is the wojak stuff public domain? Is that why there are so many channels? Inevitably yours is the best. Keep it up
