Mark Farner is a true class act and great musician. His story telling ability is mesmerizing. He captures the era of the peak and decline of the auto industry and saw it wasn't the life for him. He developed into an incredible guitarist and has one of the most original soulful rock voices you will ever hear. Play on Mark!

There are a lot of things I don't understand about the music business, but I really don't understand why groups like the Dave Clark Five, Jefferson Airplane, Santana (the band, not the guitarist), The Ventures, The Lovin' Spoonful, Black Sabbath and The Hollies are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and Grand Funk Railroad isn't. GFR should be there as a band, and Mark Farner should be there as an individual. As someone else has already said, at the age of 66, he can still sing like he could at 20, and that's not an easy thing to do, with as much stress and strain as he's put his vocal cords through. Plus, he's one of the greatest rock guitarists in history.
@terrypussypower9 жыл бұрын
+Woody Thames The Rock'n'Roll Hall Of Fame is a fucking JOKE. For me, all the bands you mentioned have every right to be in there, but what's more egregious is the inclusion of Madonna, Donna Summer, Abba, Grandmaster Flash (who's great, but not R'n'R!) ,Michael Jackson, Jackson Browne and James Taylor over the likes of Grand Funk Railroad and Blue Oyster Cult! There even putting Green Day in there over Grand Funk And BOC!

Man does he explain living the auto industry life real well and the trap it certainly could become. Back in the good old days of the car building business you were almost guaranteed a cradle to grave existence in a auto plant but not your sanity once they were done with you. And when you secured your existence in this work a day lifestyle it was hard to escape unless your job was eliminated which eventually happened to almost everybody in the auto manufacturing paradise known as Michigan.

core values change. It is obviously the case here,Brewer no longer cared about his friend Mark. The same thing happened with Terry Knight,the original band member from before GFR,who then became their manager(original) ,then ripped them for 57 mil. Funny ,and sad,how Knight would later be stabbed to death, in a bizarre turn of events,by an obviously undisciplined young man, a boyfriend of his daughter's.
