One thing I did notice though is the lens is plastic it is flat on the front or wide end of the light which is likely where I will want to set this. I'm afraid this may scratch scratch easily. Hey bud. My main question is durability. I have been trying to find a EDC light for almost a year. I have tried 3 now and each one has it's own issues. 2 of my main complaints is: Too many gizmos on it. I need high, low and OFF. That's in. I don't need a light show or SOS mode. and two: I need it strong. It goes in my pocket. I bend over, crawl on the ground, carry heavy things that lean against my pockets etc etc. Actually, a 3rd complaint. Some of these light costs. Companies are being stupid when they think they have something original. Keep a light under 50 bucks. If it costs more than that it's not a EDC Light.

I've owned a few nitecore and fenix lights. Nitecore is far better. Prices are decent, a tad high perhaps, but what is the cost of reliable light when you need it? Spend the cash on a nitecore *AND some good quality batteries* and be done. The P16 lights have great output, battery life and they are designed smart (the mode selector also lights up as your battery indicator).

I have been looking for a small usb-rechargeable flashlight for EDC purposes. But I'm not convinced about this one. it's probably very hard to replace the battery when it fails. And even though they expressly mention that they use Li-ion batteries, I find that hard to believe when there is a mode that fully drains it in 15 minutes. That would damage the battery in no time, so I suspect they use LiPo instead.

I had a couple of the Nitecore keychain lights. The first lasted me a good year of regular, short burst use before it gave out. The second one lasted about a month. I suspect that the electronics in the second one were ruined by the strong magnet on the back of my Olight, which I was carrying clipped to my pocket next to my keychain hanging from my belt loop. I hear magnets can scramble tech like this, but not sure how strong the magnet needs to be. Either way I won't buy another of those and have the Olight S1R for EDC now and S2R for hikes (and it's actually my bedside lamp in the dock charger facing the wall to diffuse the light). I'm glad Nitecore is offering a 1000 lumen pocket light now, but it's the same price as the Olight which is built to last for the long run. Not to sound like a commercial...
