great idea for patties instead of the big loaf type that I have been making. Cuts down on cooking time and saves energy. I learn lots from you. So old dogs can learn new tricks.

Sarah, I adore the fact that you cut yourself a break and use the microwave, and some 'bought' ingredients. In this day and age, it gives a realistic component to your lifestyle. Every time I watch one of your videos, I try to incorporate bits and pieces into my life. I am striving to get a bit more holistic with my life.

Good grief.. I had to watch this at 8 in the morning... now I'll be starving until lunch. That's a fantastic idea for Meatloaf. My son made meatloaf over the summer, and then we grilled slices of it over the charcoal. Man that was awesome too. I need some MEATLOAF !!!

Great simple recipes. I will definitely make these. Love the italian style with the cheese and marinara! If you change up the ingredients you can turn them into salisbury steaks with brown gravy. Serve with mashed potatoes. Yum! I'm hungry for meatloaf.

I make meatloaf patties too. That salad is called slaw here in NC, I make it similar to that and I like it the next day. Not all slaw has mayo but it must have a fat instead of the mayo. I do sometimes add some canned tomatoes to the cabbage when it is with pork. Yummy! Why do they stop making items that work, someone needs to add that jar opener to their line up of canning supplies!

Sarah, my belated husband used to make meatloaf patties, and cooked them the same way you cook hamburgers, and in fact used to call them hamburgers. LOL. (he was raised during the depression). I usually make what I call, mini meatloafs. Each one is exactly one serving of meat. Great to slice length-wise when cold to make leftover meatloaf sandwiches. Your recipes are great. Blessings.

My mom always put oatmeal in her meatloaf. Patties are such a good idea. I don’t put garlic in my meatloaf.....mostly just some season salt.cabbage is great for a salad. I love Cole slaw. It goes great w/meatloaf. Good homemade food.....nothing better! We are blessed to have good at home prepared food! I chopped my cole slaw cabbage very small, and don’t put spices in other than salt/pepper/sugar and oil and vinegar. I like the idea of baking the meatloafs patties in the oven. So smart!! I have been making Italian meatloaf patties for over 20 years. I usually fry mine and they cook up really nice and quick. If I have a lot of meat to use, I just make extra meatloaf patties and freeze them to cook another day. It saves prep time for those busy days and can be cooked frozen.

My dad used to use oats in his meatloaf! Sometimes he’d even cook it loose in a pan by mixing ground beef, onions, bell peppers, oregano and oatmeal in a pan and just stirring it around kind of like sloppy joe. He’d also sometimes add very small diced potatoes, and we’d top it with ketchup when it was thoroughly cooked. I loved it. I like oatmeal better than regular bread crumbs, but my favorite thing to put in meatloaf of meatballs is bread soaked in milk. I just break bread into chunks, soak it in milk for a while, and then put the mushy chunks in with the meat mixture. Makes the juiciest meatloaf I’ve ever had. I like to keep a loaf of bread in the freezer for this.

That looks great, I'll have to give that a try soon. We used to make "porcupines." Sort of the same as your meatloaf patties, but we added rice and cooked them in the tomato sauce and add cheese at the end of the cooking time. Ours were formed in large elongated meatballs. Hence the name porcupines, because of the rice sticking out of them, lol!

To heat up your patties even quicker. Brown off the patties in a skillet first, then put them in a pan with a small rack. Put just a little bit of water in the bottom of the pan, and cover with some aluminum foil. Put in the oven on 350°F.. They will be done very quickly, plus, less chance of drying out or burning. This is a really good idea! I'm going to make these very soon!

Sarah, I'm a recent subscriber to your channel and enjoy it immensely. Here's a tip on the oils you cook with. The worst place to store them is above the stove top. Also the grocery store oils are all processed and most are not good. Organic avocado oil is pretty tasteless so it's good for things that olive oil is too strong tasting. The processed oils like sunflower, canola, soybean, safflower etc are endocrine disruptive. Damage to our endocrine system can lead to cancer too. So please don't store your oils above the stove. (I did for decades until I found out it's not good). I've been hungry for meatloaf so I'm going to try your patties recipe. I think I'll like it better than a loaf. I wish you all the best in your farm homestead and may 2020 find you happy and healthy and strong throughout the year! God bless you and keep you in His tender care 🙏💖 Evelyn in SC Wisconsin 💖

Moms journey to meatloaf burgers started about 1955..Grandad worked in Washington, DC, and got home at 5:30 every Friday. He stayed during the week with his brother. Granny was running late for dinner, which was meatloaf. Granny had to leave the kitchen as Mom was about to out it in the oven, then an idea hit her...into the frying pan, as burgers, they went. Granny was afraid they wouldn't test good...of course, they were great. So, Mom would make meatloaf, then, the burgers. They taste slightly different, due to the browning on each side. Granny, in the 1950s, used to add pudding and Jello to cake mixes all the time, too. Orange Jello cake and Lemon pudding cake. Always with white icing and fresh coconut.

I've been making a very similar meatloaf for 35 years only I don't bother to grind my oats. I just dump 'em whole right in with the rest of the ingredients. No one knows they're there. However, I make a big loaf that cooks a long time. I don't know if the shorter cooking time would soften the oats but I'm going to find out next time I make meat loaf. These smaller patties would be perfect for a widow to make and freeze the extra patties.

I like to add parsley to my meatloaf, dried or fresh, doesn't matter, usually about the same amount as the oregano. Also, instead of bread crumbs, I use crackers. I use what's on hand: saltine, ritz, or stone ground wheat, etc. Either crush them by hand for small chunks, or by blender for small bits. I make patties also, and eat them like a burger with a bun, lettuce, tomato, onion, etc Just a few different ways to try for variety. Yours look awesome. Yummy.
