Love Liza! I remember back in the mid 80's or so, my neighbor won tickets to see Liza in Cleveland and had an extra ticket and invited me. I was not into this kind of music but I went. It was one of the best concerts I've ever seen! Her version of New York, New York is a classic and she does it like no other, in my opinion. Thanks for the reaction.

I'm sure someone's said this already, but if you are interested the title is Mein Herr (pronounced Mine Hair) which means basically "My lord" or "Good sir" Mein leibe Herr = "My dear sir" Oh and the guy who introduces her in the rapid fire German is the dad of the star of Dirty Dancing (Jennifer Grey)

Liza( pronounced "LY-ZAH" I believe) Minelli was/is Hollywood Royalty, being the daughter of legendary songstress Judy Garland and film director Vincent Minelli, but this definitive, Oscar winning role as Sally Bowles, in Bob Fosse's powerful musical CABARET, established her ae a star in her own right.. The movie itself was ground-breaking as it was based on a book by Christopher Isherwood called "Notes from Berlin". The film is set in a decadent 1930's Berlin against a backdrop of the sinister rise of "The Nazi Party " in Germany..! It does Not have the traditional Hollywood " Happy Ever After " ending"...!

When they first rehearsed this dance number, there was no way Minelli could do some of the moves without the chair moving. Eventually, they had to nail the chair to the floor for those parts of the number.

As others have said, Liza (LYZAH) was the daughter of Judy Garland, who is definite Hollywood royalty. However, when she died she owed over $500,000 (about $4.3M in todays money) to the US government for back taxes. Many celebrities in Hollywood offered to give Liza money to help repay, including most famously Frank Sinatra, but she did not want that to be her mothers legacy. SInce Liza refused even Frank's money (which he totally respected), he had her open for him and the Rat Pack so she could earn the money. It took her 9 years but she eventually paid every penny her mother owed. They eventually all performed together. It's one of my few regrets not seeing the Rat Pack with Liza live. Liza is a remarkable woman (she is 78 years young!). Crazy talented and a world class human being. BTW: You should really watch the movie Caberet for context. It is set in 1931 Berlin, pre-war. There are also several other iconic songs from the movie like Money.

For example, 9-year-old Tatum Oneal won an Oscar against everyone for "Paper Moon". For me, that's a legitimate win.

It was stolen and later found and returned to her. The Academy had even issued her a replacement Oscar. They did away with the award when Patty Duke won best actress proving a child could win.

Liza is a daughter of Judy Garland and Vincente Minnelle. She was 26 years old and smoking hot when she starred in Cabaret. I highly recommend watching the entire movie. It's an interesting view of Germany just as Hitler and the Nazi Party were beginning to gain power. All the performances are great but several of my favorites are Cabaret, Money, and the frightening Tomorrow Belongs To Me.
