Actually, in Thailand we have similar name of dish, “Cao Lao” (เกาเหลา) which you can order from any noodle shop and you will get any meats, fish balls, etc. and soup except noodle. Sometimes we order “cao lao” to eat with steamed rice.

I took a sleeper train from Da Nang to Hanoi, I was alone and shared a sleeping carriage with a Vietnamese family, kinda fun and entertaining, still got some sleep, but once was enough! I feel sometimes you don’t do enough research, there is so much online that can be helpful in wherever your going nowadays, that it can minimise some problems like you experience! I’ve taken many long distance buses, yes they are cheap and usually faster than the train, but in my experience it’s always better to take the train!

Depends what type of dog he is with coping and whether travelling around will stress him out , whether its fair on him and if its better for him to just stay with family until you get settled somewhere more permanent. Geez, the dinner was so awful. Again, dinner for overnight buses in overland java is wayyyy better than this.. Anyway, the toilet in vietnam just exactly look like in indonesia, the squad toilet. Since both of you only visited bali, which are resort n hotels, but if you visit a local house, they have the similar squad toilet, for real.

First time in Vietnam 🇻🇳 we went to Danang and the hotel was decorated in such a terribly gaudy decor that we changed hotels. That was 12 years ago. We recently went to Vietnam 2 months for a short holiday and to also visit our Vietnamese friends. We took the sleeper bus from Saigon to Nha Trang and one of our Vietnamnese friend help us book a ticket and boy it was really uncomfortable. The “bus station” was in the middle of nowhere, ticket counter was weird like it wasn’t even a shop ?! Bus drivers didn’t check our tickets we just followed this person who process the tickets at the counter. And none of the bus drivers spoke English, even with Google translate they don’t understand as we wanted to confirm the sleeper bus is to nha trang and not anywhere else. So we just followed and trust the staff and man, along the way they kept picking up random people at random stops and seeing them hand the drivers money directly so I assume it was “illegal”. Even tho the bus was packed, those random people coming up just slept or sit on the floor beside us. Like wot the fck? So throughout the night I had to hold my belongings tightly just to be safe. And when we reach Nha Trang, they didn’t have a designated stop. They just randomly stop ? at random places every now and then and we had to use our Google maps as an estimation. Once they stop at a random area which is near our hotel we just got off in that middle of nowhere with our big luggages and took a grab to our hotel. It was near impossible to ask the drivers or anyone on what’s happening because no one speaks english. I almost had a break down because it was pretty nerve wrecking. Glad I experience once but never again. MAYBE I would do a sleeper bus again provided if communications especially with tourists/foreigners have improved even the slightest in the near future or if I am travelling on the sleeper bus with a Vietnamese friend where at least there’s a local with us to do the talking/communication. Other than that, I would rather spend more on a domestic flight. In fact when we came back from Nha Trang back to Saigon to head back our home country, we took the domestic flight which was so much easier and hassle free. That’s just my experience.

This probably not that bad but rather quite surprising when I visited Cambodia. I booked for a guest house through AirB*B and I was quite surprised because we have to sleep with like 10 other people in one room. I tried looking for a cheap hotel nearby but they're quite pricey since most of them are still using USD. So finally I got back to that guest house and on the first day, the water pump was broken, so we decided to have a water fighting while showering at the front yard. Finally I was happy with my decision cos I met lots of people from around the world and made it one of my most memorable trip ever! 😁

I find it very convenient to have an EU pet passport when traveling with a dog. It is far more organized than the paperwork the US issues. EU Pet passport is a booklet similar in size to your passport, the US paperwork is a multipage document. It was 20-30 euro in Greece. This paperwork cost around $200 in California. I've driven/flown with our dogs to 14 countries so far. The car was very easy compared to the plane. We have flown in cabin with United, Lufthansa, Norwegian Air, TUI, Delta & Bangkok Airways. Americas are easiest, Europe is more complex, Asia is a chess match for traveling with anything bigger than a cat. Always carry copies of your animal documents and never hand over the originals if avoidable. What breed of dog do you have? Weight? We had some weird pickup and drop off spots in Thailand, Cambodia and Malaysia.

Yes but its also an hour before you need to be there so thats also 30 mins time allowed so it can be 4 hours. Also with flight delays happening frequently here. The bus is less dramas. Just get seated at go go go. Probably need a sleeper bus. I had a luxury bus from HCMC to Dalat and i would rather do 10 hours on there vs one hour flight stress.
