Dude's not lying. I'm still kicking around my dervish I picked up in 2008. Board was run over by a minivan in a particularly hard spill. Dude stopped right on my board, the middle was flexed under the front wheel of his van. He kept asking if I was ok and in was like yeah can you reverse a little? Like a bad abbot and Costello. Good show, all these shapes you covered can already be found in retro decks from Powell, Alien, World, Santa, Vision and many others. You guys should try some other early 90's boards from those companies and set em up as cruisers. Also try some of the soft wheels from Santa Cruz or Powell. IMO, these companies you cover are not reinventing the wheel and you can still purchase from the companies that thought of those shapes.

@nunyabiz0123 жыл бұрын
Great review and premium content as always. I was really looking forward to this review in particular, since I’m in the market for a cruiser and just noticed this board on their website recently. One quick thing I’d like to point out is the pronunciation of ‘Omakase’ (O MA ka se / not O ma KA ZI). Omakase (Japanese: お任せ, Hepburn: o-makase) is a Japanese phrase, used when ordering sushi in restaurants, that means 'I'll leave it up to you' (from Japanese 'to entrust' (任せる, makaseru).

I want to get this but am debating between the omakase, chinchiller, and coyote. How is the flex/stiffness and concave on the coyote? I care more about cruising/carving and less about sliding/trucks. I saw somewhere the flex rating is 1 for coyote that's too stiff. If this is true or not please let me know. How good is the foot hold and flex for stable and comfortable cruising?
@concrete-waves Жыл бұрын
Am i too late here? My bad! The coyote has no flex since it's made with 7-ply maple. Based on what you said, I think you should look into the omakase, chinchiller, poke, or ballona. The omakase is the heaviest since it was originally made for electric skateboards. The Chinchiller and Poke have flex and are more cruising/carving-oriented. The Ballona has no flex, is the smallest, and has the flattest deck shape
@xcharlesbronsonx Жыл бұрын
@@concrete-waves no you're not too late. Been researching boards. I've narrowed it down to chinchiller, coyote, or the landyachtz schooner sine wave. I dismissed the omakase because it was initially a electric board, and it's too wide. The poke is also an interesting option. I've seen boards made only of maple that have flexy options as well The landyachtz schooner is very interesting. It has 18.9" wheelbase so I can comfortably mount reverse kingpins. It has a medium flex (#5 according to landyachtz site). I don't know if it has a rocker or micro drop. I was told it has slightly less pronounced wheel flares than the coyote. The chinchiller I was worried this was more of a freestyle board than for carving and cruising. But the dimensions (like the schooner) are perfect. It has a nano drop, very slight rocker (I think), and a less pronounced wheel flare than the coyote The coyote. I like it's shape and design. But was told it was much stiffer about the same stiffness as the omakase. It's wheel base is 17.5" so I am barely able to run reverse kingpins. What do you know about the landyachtz schooner? Would that be a great medium between the coyote and chinchiller? I haven't looked into the poke that much. I also thought it was a like the chinchiller a symmetrical dancer board. Do I need micro drops? I want a rocker as I never had one before. I am coming from a sector 9 cruiser and arbor gt pintail 46" by 9.5" width. It's basically the older graphic of the current "timeless" model with the same dimensions. Any help would be appreciated

I don't think a mellow kicktail is actually a problem at all. It might actually be more comfortable to do tricks with actually. I'm not the most experienced skater out there, but my experience with super steep tails on cruisers like this, is definitely how it always goes so rocket when you pop. That's not always desirable at all. And yeah, the nose being extremely mellow is more of a problem. But there are still quite a few tricks you wouldn't necessarily slide all the way up the nose anyway. It depends a bit on your style or technique. Plenty of skaters do tricks all the time, without a nose on their board. A lot of tricks can also be caught fairly flat fortunately. Anyway, my comment was more so a general complaint about how most of these cruisers actually have a very very steep tail that just makes no sense to me. It might be to compensate for how high they are on the bigger wheels and high trucks in general. But I would prefer just a longer tail vs a steeper one.
