Kyle Chin explains important aspects of the toeside predrift: lines, stance/body position, weight distribution, slide initiation/modulation, hookup, and avoiding common mistakes.
Please note that sliding style often varies from rider to rider. This is not the only way to execute a toeside predrift, but it is the most common (and easiest to learn) form.
Setup: Comet Voodoo (chopped), Paris 180s, 80a 4 Presidents
Filmed: Adam Colton
Edited: Kyle Chin

This is by far the best explanation of a toeside predrift ever. Watching this over and over again is how I learnt the correct technique. I wish the loaded crew would start doing more of them again.

awesome in depth video. being able to do this, having learned it over a year ago it's crazy. I don't think about releasing pressure, my position anymore. It's amazing to think I do all of this instinctively now.

Awesome. It reminds me of a lesson I learned years ago flying a full-on military simulator of an F-111. You don't yank the controls - that'll just throw you into a spin. You have to use finesse - just a enough control force to get the job done. Not only is he teaching the correct technique, he's teaching you not to over-control the board and that's what makes his boarding so graceful. That's a fine point that's important in almost every activity I've ever tried.

@thetrueblahman I've found that it's easier to stay on top of your board and control the hookup when grabbing rail. But that's just me. I also like doing 1-handers, but I'll always grab rail if I'm racing or trying to be as precise as possible. - Kyle

Zacx It doesn't matter if you're goofy or regular lmao. Heelsides goofy are the same as heelsides regular, but switched around. Say theres a corner to your left and you are goofy.. That would be a toeside predrift, while regular ( im regular ) it yould be heelside. Same feels and all.

holy shit i thought i was the only one! i honestly hate heelsides, they feel so awkward. i've been trying to get sit downs but i feel so awkward that i don't think i'll ever get it, but whenever i do toesides, (which are known to be much more difficult) i find them much easier.
@LoadedBoards
@LoadedBoards 14 жыл бұрын
@Downhill644 When you set up for the slide, get your toes on or over the rail and concentrate on keeping that foot planted firmly on the griptape throughout the drift. Remember that all the action comes from your back foot, so just keep your front foot locked onto the grip. Grabbing rail will probably help stabilize the front of your board, as well; if you grab close to your heel, your hand can help prevent your foot from migrating.

@HillsHelp Make sure to have your feet set up so that your weight is on your uphill wheels (on your toeside rail). When you dig in with your heels, your downhill wheels will lock up, and that's what causes a high-side.

@LoadedBoards
@LoadedBoards 14 жыл бұрын
@foreheadiumal Just enough to allow you to drift easily without high-siding. The less weight you put on your hand, the more weight there will be on the wheels, allowing them to burn off more speed and hook up more easily when you're done with the predrift.

alright im hoping for a quick response as im actually in a race tomorrow that requires a toeside predrift. When im practicing at full speed, i can pull them off confidently and cleanly, but i have trouble bringing that back in without shedding too much speed. so what i mean is that i always hold the slide for too long and enter the corner with next to no speed at all. Thanks a lot.
