My 10year old son and I found you a few days ago and we love your enthusiasm towards fishing/foraging on the coast, it’s obviously a passion and not just a ‘job’. You are very young (compared to me 🤬) but you and Sam looked so happy and healthy sat in the dark, on the sea front, munching the freshest tastiest looking lobster EVER with a base line dropping emanating from the nearest night club lol. You two are great role models for young children growing up in this technological age, when Monty’s on KZbin I want him watching uploads like yours rather than how to beat the next person on Fortnite!!!! Ps. I spelt base that way so the was no confusion with the fish bass 🦈 .....and what the hell is Fortnite?!?!?!?! )

I live here, you can buy lobs for like 5 or 6 bucks a pound. Not sure I could justify spending 100 in a restaurant knowing that's like 8 times more expensive.

Try grilling the lobster raw when you cut it in half. Then take melted garlic butter and brush it on until cooked through. It is excellent!

Steaming the lobster or prawns would let them retain their full sweetness. (Once any crustacean has a cut, their sweetness would seep into the boiling water.) To retain their sweetness in boiling water, they need to be dunk in 100% whole.

I see that you cut your garlic cloves with a knife which can lead to injury. I was taught to grab both ends of the garlic clove with both hands and twist the clove, that way the skin just peels off. Give it a try.

You lucky buggers... lobster for breakfast? I ask you! Forget about the garlic... you can never have too much garlic.
@EricValor
@EricValor 5 жыл бұрын
In the 19th Century USA, lobster was thought food fit only for prisoners. Or they were ground up by the thousands and plowed under for fertilizer. Lobster was considered an insect, just in the oceans, and no civilized person would eat insects. There was even a prison riot where the inmates were protesting being given only lobster to eat. I would be perfectly happy with that, except prison conditions in the 19th were much worse than the 20th and 21st Centuries, and I am quite certain the prison wouldn't be giving me any garlic, butter, or lemons... Another way I like to eat lobster is when I am down in Mexico surfing and pay a Pescador (fisherman) 20 pesos - about $2 US - to go snorkeling around 10-15 meters off the beach and get me a langosta (lobster). I could bring diving gear with me and get my own but I would rather support the local families in the villages where I stay. Pacific warm-water lobsters don't have the huge front claws so aside from the tail there's not much meat. So what the locals do is fry 'em up in a big cast iron skillet for about 10 minutes with a big ladle of pork lard and quite a few minced garlic cloves (called "mojo de ajo", pronounced "MO-ho day AH-ho") and salt. You eat the whole thing, shell and all. It's so good! They also do a fish called red snapper that way, just scaling it, cutting diamond shapes in the flesh with a series of perpendicular diagonal cuts, then fry the whole thing in pork lard and lots of garlic, usually with a side of potatoes (papas) in either french fry or slice form. Both are great Surfer Chow, especially with a 1.1 liter bottle of Modelo beer! My favorite is the dark Negra Modelo, like a Guiness with more fizz. The 1.1 liter bottles - Familiar ("family size") or in slang Ballena ("bi-YAY-na" or "whale") or Caguama ("cog-HWA-ma" or "tortoise"), depending where in Mexico you are - cost only $1 US and you get $0.50 back as deposit for the glass bottle! I usually have 8-10 a day when I'm down there and the family with whom I stay can't believe this skinny gringo can pack down that much beer and still walk, let alone surf (but they are quite happy for the boost in business for their tienda (little market). I am happy drunk and am always quiet (except for laughter) and respectful of them, the village, and the hours people keep, so they always tell me they enjoy my stays with them in their little 2-story concrete bunker hotel.

Hey bro, quick tip! Use the lobsters antenna to remove its digestive track, the antenna have tiny ridges that point backwards so if you stick one base first up the bum twist and slowly pull you’ll remove the whole track 🤙🤙🤙🤙
