Yes, do not treat them differently. I had a Down's syndrome client who lived (a rare) 61 full years of life. He passed last year. He was the brother-in-law of another client of mine. He was loved by his entire family and extended family. He learned painting and drawing; he worked for decades at the local grocery store and everyone cared about him. I used to talk to him 20 years ago when he walked his dog in the neighborhood.. way before anyone became my client. He earned his own keep. He was conscious and felt and saw and comprehended everything; his reactive reflexes were reduced [and somewhat childlike] because of the affliction, but was very much aware of everything.

What scares me in such cases is what happens if something bad happens to the mother. Touch wood but life is unpredictable. And i dont mean when they are lottle babies i mean when they are older like teenagers or young adults..the mother has to be there for them till she dies.. and then what????

Many people with down syndrome go on to live independent or semi-independent lives. Contrary to popular belief, most individuals with down syndrome only have mild to moderate intellectual disabilities.

I just don't know who these people are that everybody keeps talking about that would treat them differently or look down on them I don't know anybody and I know some pretty rough people but I don't know anybody that would look down upon those children
