I think priority # 1 is upgrading the offensive line. Joe is the franchise and we need to better protect him plus establish a more reliable run game. A clock controlling offense would benefit our D too.

I think it’s a great pick go back and look how he developed Logan Wilson and Pratt. I think he can get Pratt back to his better form. Plus develop all the young talent on defense. He’s done it at ND, so he is familiar with the players here and what the D needs.

Golden is the bare minimum standard put forth by the trash ownership. He has 6 years experience in the NFL and has never called plays. They did 2 other interviews to satisfy the Rooney rule and that's it. This cannot be viewed as a Superbowl move. So hear me out, when Golden was here the LBs were the best defensive players on the team outside of Bates and Hendrickson. Golden was at the helm of that position group at the time. He made Pratt look like a competent linebacker and Logan Wilson developed into quite a player and has only regressed since Golden’s exit. Also Notre Dame’s defense is the reason they’ve made it this far in the college playoffs. Gotta give Golden his flowers for that as well. He’s got a head start on everyone else because Golden knows the key players in the Bengals locker room and he knows how to put them in the best position to succeed. I actually trust this hiring until they give me a reason not to

I'm not miserable, I just call it as I see it. With that being said I've seen it out of the Bengals ownership for decades. I called this move within minutes of them firing Anarumo. There next moves will be bringing in some low priced guards to try and convince the fans they are doing something. Then they'll do the combine where dookie Tobin will talk about only so much pie to go around. They'll tag Tee and not give Hendrickson the raise he deserves. Then they'll make questionable draft picks. They'll make Chase wait til the week before the season starts to get paid. Which has to have something to do with quarterly interest. Somewhere in there they fill out the rest of coaching staff with people who are willing to do 2 jobs for half the money. What they should do to prove they are willing to do what it takes. SignTee and pay Jamarr ASAP. Extend Trey or trade him for draft capital. Bring in 2 guards a nose tackle & a free safety. That's before the draft. They still have time to hire a Defensive coordinator with some skins on the wall. Trust me I would like nothing more than to look at Bengals news and say holy shit they are stepping into the new millenia and going all in because JoeyB deserves it. Unfortunately Mike and the Blackburns only care about $$$$. With the stadium being full against Denver, that is a successful season for them. Only confirming they can do the bare minimum, and the cash cow JoeyB will keep the fans coming.

It won’t be an overhaul. They passed on their opportunity to overhaul the defense when they didn’t trade Tee and Trey by the trade deadline. That would have nabbed them probably three first or second round picks and insured they had a higher draft position. They might pay Tee but no way will this organization reward a Trey Hendrickson with the contract he deserves as the league’s top DE when he’s over 30. Trey will hold out again, and they will get nothing.

I would be more comfortable with someone with a pedigree of successful top flight defenses in the NFL. A proven play caller, a proven developer of young talent, a proven good draft history.
