Thanks Wade, that was the best explanation of securing a machine to spec that I have seen, we move around 4 excavators, 2 dozers, a loader and a blade and I learned a couple of things from that video. Super cool

that's a guy officer Hoover, for one thank you for your service and two thank you for extending your knowledge of securement and safety to those of us in that field, I've been through several securement and requirement courses and you still learn each time. An officer willing to teach this uh way will help a driver retain the rules and info far better than the officer out to collect and careless while leaving the driver seeing red and on the fight........that don't help nobody, positive reinforcement like tater said will make a guy wanna impress and be proud he did well instead of half ass and high ball around dodgin all chicken houses

Zucchini Bread... Oh Boy! Hat off to Officer Hoover and Tater! It's great to have working relationships with those in authority. Our interaction with State D.O.T. has been much better than some of the small municipalities. It's as though one is checking for safe conduct and operation, whilst others are looking for a revenue source. We have had multiple area agencies put on DOT staff. Once that occurs, it seems that most of their citations are for some obscure, forgotten or overlooked rule that the real Motor Carrier inspectors aren't interested in bothering with. So, to Officer Hoover and those in the field that are honorable men in service to we the people... My sincere Thanks. Be Blessed!

Officer hoover should be teaching dot officers. Nation wide. Theres much more to it than following the rules. As a driver, if you dread inspections. And get belittled, and scorned. For your short comings. It hinders your ability to learn. Its not just about doing it like this. Its a about learning why you do it like that. And understanding what might constitute a little more securement. Officer hoover your the best.

Tater I love the fact that there is a good mixture of humor and education in your vidjo's lol was just wondering every body up here in Vermont run tire chains all the way around on there skidder's and wheeled forwarders I know it's because we get a lot more snow and ice but it does help even in the summers especially in the mud it wouldn't help if you guys did the same was just wondering biggest reasons why you don't? It's amazing how different everyone logs I. Different parts of the country thanks again for another good video

cool. i haul my antique farm tractor to shows. i didnt realize straight chain set you have to divide half. i used to v my chains and do one front one back tractor only wieghs 5-6k but now i do 4 corners cause hay if one came loose with 2 chains it can shift but 4 piont it cant shift. also just using 4700 wll chain rating cause i have 3/8 43 and 5/16 70 chains. so now i have over 9k of securement on a 7k tractor w/ loader and i only need 3.5k secured. i want to get a bracket on the front frame to ease securement though. going down the road i scale about 21k w/ a f350 daully and 9 ton equipment trl

Fun Story,I came across a hat just like that so one Friday Night after playing a football game I was wearing it,at like 2AM up to nothin but mischief in my Straight Piped 88 Z71 with my Girlfriend well....we get pulled over because the Truck sounds like a gang of hell hounds.When the Officer came to the window he asked all the usual questions went to his car to run my info.....he came back to the Truck to get me out to do a Sobriety test....then proceeded to tell me to take my "Stupid F#%*'n Robin Hood Hat off in lay it in the seat,because no one was gonna see him on the side of the rode with me and that hat,and nobody sober would be wearing it on any other day than Halloween" I got a Noise Ordinance violation ticket out of it,but that ol boy wasn't impressed with my hat.

I like the Ole'Semite-Sam hat,thats cool...HAHA!!. My question is this Wade,if you have 50%of the total weight secured,what happens to the other 50%that's unsecured in a emergency stop?.This 50%rule might meet the LEGAL end of it,but what about the laws of physics?. Now you have 17,000 pounds that is legally"free",but couldn't this be a serious issue with the"domino-effect"?.Could the"free"17,000 pounds that's"unsecured"cause the 17,000 that is secured to be pushed far past its 19,000 pound safety limits and cause a catastrophic accident?.Just wondering about this Wade.

I don't understand, why is Officer Hoover cutting the rating of the tie downs in half?
@bigbird8960
@bigbird8960 7 жыл бұрын
Minimum Working Load Limit for Cargo Securement Devices and Systems The aggregate working load limit of any securement system used to secure an article or group of articles against movement must be at least one-half the weight of the article or group of articles. The aggregate working load limit is the sum of: One-half the working load limit of each tiedown that goes from an anchor point on the vehicle to an attachment point on an article of cargo; and The working load limit for each tiedown that goes from an anchor point on the vehicle, through, over or around the cargo and then attaches to another anchor point on the vehicle.
@bewnike
@bewnike 7 жыл бұрын
bigbird8960 that makes zero sense. So they're saying you have to have half of the weight tied down and your tie downs only count for half. Wouldn't it be easier to say you have to have the equivalent of all the weight tied down and just give the full value of the tie downs?

Hi Guys thanks for the video, you just reminded me why I don't want a class 1 licence in Canada, I can drive the trucks no problem but I got no interest in all that book stuff it just gives me a headache reading and trying to get it right. Some of The complete dicks the government DOT employ to enforce it here don't help either. They certainly aren't fine gentlemen like Officer Hoover is. They are just revenue generators like the regular cops here now on the highways. Everythings unmarked sports cars and they wanna encourage you to race on the highway. Or from the lights in town, but it ends in mobile disco lights and tickets if you are that stupid to try . Our local DOT just retired he was the kinda guy if you got anything other than white skin or an accent that didn't fit he'd start off with a new pen from his truck, and be borrowing yours to finish the ticket when his ran out. once he stopped a Hutterite truck, they radio'd back and 6 Hutterites in a van turned up because they new it was gonna be a problem. He had to call back up to get himself out of his situation he created, picking on the guys before as they have German accents. In certain areas they aren't liked and he hated them with a passion. It would be fun to see you and Stevie chain a load each, and get officer Hoover to judge both and see how much the recent new driver learned and retained from his course.
