I have yet to use a folder stack. I would always go with summing stack just in case , even if I was not a plugin yet.

What a game changer to add the bus first to the tracks and then create the summing stuck!

I like how you don't have to open the mixer to see it. It makes more sense to me .. kinda reminds me of photoshop and it's layer toolbar.

Thanx. Been wondering what Stacking was for - Going more in to Orchestrial scoring = tons of tracks, the need to get everythng organised I crucial. So thanx again :-)

Sam, my friend, sometimes when I create the summing track, with tracks say for verse voxes and hook voxes, I get massive echos. But when turning down the said busess I lose the full effect of that bus when trying to get rid of the echo or accessive effects. But this doesn't happen everytime. Most times everything routes accordingly. Any ideas?

Track Stacks is a great feature, but it annoys me that the original Aux track is hijacked by the new bus and moved to the stack. It messes up my template. As a workaround I leave one track out when making the stack, which leaves the original Aux in place and creates a new summing track, and then drag the left over track into the stack. I like your videos, keep it up!

Thanks for checking it out! That’s an interesting way round the issue; it’s certainly frustrating when it overtakes a bus. It seems like it’s something you have to really plan to use, and implement before you’ve gone too far with bussing to get the most out of it.

Thank you, Sam. I have been using a summing stack for my FXs sends, because using summing stacks allows you to save the folder as a patch. I think the folder stack does not allows you to do it, so that could be another reason to use summing stacks, does it? Cheers

A folder Stack adds a VCA as the controlling track where the Summing Stack creates a new bus to control the stack.

quick question!! sorry im new to audio production .. SO !! if I have guitars panned left and right then made up into a track stack ..when I process the created track stack should I be using a linear phase eq ..?? or do I need to use oversampling on my compressors ?? .. hope that makes sense

Now what happens when you create a summing stack and then create a send on one of the individual tracks in the folder and send a % back to the main folder bus. Would that individual track essentially go through the main bus twice (first via the amount on the send, and secondly the full amount of the individual track)? I have no clue why I am asking or even care but just curious

Nice and clearly explained video. I’m having a bit of an issue with Summing Stacks, if you could please help? As shown, I created a Summing Stack from a bunch of individual guitar tracks. The Sum works great for applying EQ and effects etc to all tracks. However the panning of each individual track is no longer working - hard panning left or right is only working on the Sum itself, which I know shouldn’t be the case! I read it could be due to a Mono plugin somewhere. I have all my plugin settings and automation already done (much time spent doing so). Is there any way to easily convert the plugins to Stereo without adding the plugins again and loosing all my settings? Thanks.
@SamLoose Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching 👌 Sounds like you’ve got a mono plugin on the summing stack. You can easily switch it though. Just go to the inserts, find the mono plugin, then when you hover over the name to bring up the arrows on the right hand side of the insert block, it will allow you to click stereo and should just be a straight swap. Let me know how you get on!

@@SamLoose Thanks for your reply. I’ve checked and all the plugins on my Summing Stack are in Stereo, however I still can’t pan the individual guitar tracks for some reason! Those tracks are obviously Mono by default. I tried switching those to Stereo also to see if it made a difference, but unfortunately not. Any ideas? Is there something else I might be missing? Thanks for your help with this.

How do you undo track stacks?
@SamLoose10 ай бұрын
I’m actually not 100% sure! The way that springs to mind is just to select them all and drag them out of the stack then change the track outputs. Unless it’s the last thing you did, in which case you may just be able to undo it.

@@SamLoose i tried it. I sent the master stack to a parallel reverb channel.seems to work. but I Used chromeaverb with the dry turned to zero and the wet to 100%. It seems I’m still getting a lot of the dry signal in the parallel channel

@ actually I’m really struggling with routing right now. My idea is to run my maschine thru my analog mixer by individual pads to logic and then mix the bus back to a stereo track in logic. But I’m really having a hard time with the daw routing back and forth thru my big six. Hopefully you have some earthly idea what I’m trying to ask. I have some experience with all these just not with integrating them. Thanks
