I do this almost every time I fish. I use nightcrawler pieces or wax worms on an ice fishing rig to get tiny gills, then use those to catch big bass, catfish, walleye, and whipers/stripers.

I wonder if using ultralight gear for learning fish bites on soft plastic is a good idea because it's getting really tough, can't feel that much on a medium rod. What would anyone recommend? Also LOJO using circle hooks also prevents gut hooks from what I've heard, and when it comes to snakes, there are a couple things that you can do to avoid and even check if it's dangerous, before you go to a place you know they are there, make a big ruckus and jump and try shake the ground(they can't hear you but they can sense ur vibrations). And if you do come across one, the way to tell the difference is to check if it's head is more triangular when you look right above it, it's venomous and there are distinct sack like things behind it's eyes which are it's venom glands.

Love fishing like this just catch bluegill and throw them back out for the big bass
@randyhaight72024 жыл бұрын
With that drainer bait bucket, I usually tie a rope to the handle and dangle the inside bucket right into the lake. You bait is in natural lake water, you don't need to run the bubbler as long as you're lakeside, and your fish stay lively and at lake water temp. Just make sure you can secure the top really well!

How about an on sight procurement bait challenge? You come with no bait and must acquire your bait on sight, whether that's cast netting, worm digging, live fishing or perhaps all of the above to get the largest fish. If you make it a competition that would be cool too.

Caught a giant on a bluegill when I was a kid-probably about 11 years old, before the days of digital scales and cell phone cams. I had actually tossed the bluegill back in just because I wanted to fight him a little longer because he was bigger than the others I’d caught that day. It was on an old Zebco with a broken eyelet and stripped gears. 😆
