1:02:28 The line where he says "I know what kind of god I want to be, for you, for all of us." That "for you, for all of us" line is from Thor 1, when Loki's hanging from odins staff. Fun fact: The directors asked Tom to choose what he was going to say for that scene (like 30 minutes before shooting) and he remembered that and thought it would be perfect.

Loki became the God of Stories, of everyone's story. Loki spent centuries learning all the science of time travel, physics, quantum mechanics, engineering, etc and probably centuries more just running the same scenarios of trying to stop the Loom from overloading and trying to stop Sylvie from killing He Who Remains. Odin's magic made Loki Asgardian and Asgardians become more powerful as they age. He learned and grew into the power he needed to save the Multiverse. But at the cost of living his greatest fear - being alone, possibly forever.

Writers and directory asked if he has any idea how to end this right. He went running around, was listening to score from first Thor and thought of the line. Tom did absolutelly magnificent job as Loki all the time. I dont believe theres anybody that cannot like/love him. At to be honest, every time I watch that ending... Fun fact: on the floor in front of the “X-Men door” there’s a warning about the temporal energy and the risk of, and I quote, “spaghettification.” It’s easy to miss but huge props to the set department for adding that funny little detail Something to remember about Sylvie is that she spent her whole life (since childhood) running and hiding from the TVA and living in apocalypses. While for us her dedication to McDonald’s seems dumb, for her that mundane, fairly uneventful day to day existence is new for her and probably the first time she’s ever felt peaceful Alex you seemed to have missed the joke about O.B and Victor’s interaction. Yes it’s a chicken and the egg scenario but it’s also as O.B says “like the snake eating its own tail.” In, I believe, Norse mythology the snake eating its own tail is named Ouroboros. So Ouroboros (O.B) is stuck in an Ouroboros type scenario Loki pruned his past self because he needed to get pruned to pull him from the time stream and stop his time slipping in episode 1. Sylvie did that possession thing she did in season 1 to control Brad and prune Renslayer Interesting note: the first episode of season 1 and the last episode of season 2 are both titled “Glorious Purpose.” But that glorious purpose has a different meaning at both sides of his arc. The most beautiful, fantastically executed “bookend” of all time (always) Fun fact about Loki’s outfit: the horns are black with gold “veins.” The exact same material that He Who Remains’ citadel was made of. Also the way Loki’s timelines are oriented they look like a tree. In Norse mythology Yggdrasil (yee-dra-sill) is The Tree of Life. Lastly, Loki spent his whole life seeking “the throne” and burdened with GLORIOUS PURPOSE, but now he has his throne and is BURDENED with glorious purpose. What a beautiful ending (or hopefully inflection point) to his arc 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Oh also Loki has now transformed from the God of Mischief into the God of Stories

Loki finally got the throne he always wanted... at the moment when it's the last thing he wants. And it came with a terrible burden, the burden of keeping the multiverse thriving alone... but it's the burden he chose. Like past Mobius told him. Through learning to control his time-slipping, he grew into the power he needed to become this new kind of god. The God of Stories, watching over all the stories of the multiverse as they play out, though he can't be part of them. It's... so well done and the perfect end for Loki.

I love this series. This season in particular. Thor told him that he could be so much more than the god of mischief, and that has defined his arc ever since. Even though this Loki wasn't the one that Thor told that to, he still heard it through the TVA's recordings. The whole series has really been getting him to see how much more he could be, and it has been beautiful. I love that, of the six episodes of this season, four of them have season finale energy, big time. The first one and the last three. 2 and 3 aren't bad, they just aren't at the same level as all of the others put together. I saw an interview with Tom Hiddleston about how Loki's last line came about - talking about how he'd gone on a jog around the back lot before filming that scene, and while he did, it hit him. He told the director about it, and they all agreed that it was perfect for him to call back to the finale of the first Thor movie with that line... and I agree. Look, Cap may be my favorite hero, followed pretty closely by Scott Lang, but this series has solidified Loki as my favorite character in the MCU period. I love that he is now, officially, Loki, God of Stories. It is a perfect role for him. And he will hold that special place in my heart for all time. Always.

What I think is funny is how few people bring up the leaks that occurred back in season 1, where everyone thought the big bad/manipulator was just going to be another 'ultimate' Loki that would be He Who Remains, because the leaked scenes showed Loki on a throne. Little did people realize it was because they had *already* shot this ending before even closing season one, so clearly the overarching story had already been decided a long time ago. (I'm sure various details to get there were changed and tweaked of course during production of season 2, but still pretty interesting).

Basically to sum up the confusion, Loki became the God of Stories like in the comics. The ending is him becoming the beginning of time where Kang the Conqueror (He Who Remains) is the end of time. As Mobius told him, its all about choosing the burden you want to live with (or something like that) so Loki chose to remain at the beginning of time and control the timelines and keep them alive for all eternity. Loki, the trickster god himself who only cared about himself, sacrificed himself for the everyone else. Also, fun fact, the image the new timelines made when Loki sat down resembles Yggdrasil, the Norse tree of life.

It never ceases to amaze me the level of foreshadowing this series has. To give some examples: When in the finale Loki goes to Mobius back to their very first interaction he jumps into the moment when past-Mobius asks him what is he going to do and past-Loki answers "claim my throne." And then when he finally realises what he has to do and jumps to the moment before the loom explodes the TVA system says "welcome, he who remains." It's just gorgeous.

Alex is reacting to the MCU, and you know what that means. Yup, more of his signature laugh. Ke Huy Quan started out as a child actor. He’s best known for being one of The Goonies as well as co-starting with Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. He was also a stunt coordinator for the first X-Men movie. Around that time, he left the acting industry. However, following the success of Crazy Rich Asians he reached out to a talent agent and auditioned for Everything Everywhere All At Once. His Goonies co-star and longtime friend Jeff Cohen who’s now an entertainment lawyer helped negotiate his contract to star in the film. Then after seeing his role as Waymond Wang, Kevin Feige reached out to him with the role of O.B. He’s also had a supporting role in the Netflix movie Finding ‘Ohana, and he got to work with some of his Everything Everywhere All At Once co-stars again in the Disney Plus series American Born Chinese. On another note, remember Maya Lopez from Hawkeye? Her solo series Echo is finally premiering on Wednesday January 10. All episodes will drop that day, but I must warn you: it’s gonna be TV-MA like the Marvel Netflix shows that most of us are familiar with. And of course this Friday is the premiere of What If season 2. This time, we’re getting a new episode every day instead of every week.

The Bootstrap Paradox: There’s this time traveller, going up and down history, and he really likes the works of Ludwig Van Beethoven. So one day he decides to go and meet Beethoven, so he goes to the correct time and place, but he can’t find Beethoven anywhere, and no one seems to know who Beethoven is, not even his family, Beethoven literally doesn’t exist. The time traveler starts to panic, thinking of a world without the works of Beethoven, luckily the time traveler brought all of his sheet music for Beethoven to sign, so he copies them out and he gets them published, he becomes Beethoven. And history continues with barely a feather ruffled, but then the question is, who originally put those notes and phrases together?

THe full circle is more than that. Loki has become the god of stories - everything that can happen will happen - he's sitting on a throne in the center of Yggsdrasil - the world tree which is in Asgard and connects all the realms (9 in Norse mythology). When he first appeared in Journey into Mystery - three (or four - I'm not looking it up again) issues after the first appearance of Thor - he's imprisoned inside a tree in Asgard for his misdeeds (or mischief) and is waiting for a passerby to shed a tear which will release him from his prison.

There is SOO much that is hinted at about Lokis lore in Norse mythology in this show. Loki had always been my favorite character and god to study irl. But the tree of Yygdrasil blew me away, as i knew a fair amount of people wouldnt realize the meaning. Im glad you enjoyed it. Because personally, they finally did him some lore accurate justice. 😊

Loki is absolutely one of the most tragic MCU stories. The journey and development he had throughout the movies... the journey and development he made in the first season alone... while also making a familiar character feel... new... sort of Loki has ascended from God of Mischief, to now the God of Stories. (literally his name now)

If you didn't understand why Loki didn't spaghettify : Thr radiation from temporal loom is time itself. It ages you very fast resulting in spaghettification. But Asgardians has a much much longer lifespan than humans and they get more powerful as they age. So temporal radiation made loki age also giving him a massive power boost, enough to give lofe to the multiverse and essentially setting it free. (Creating the multiverse)

Fun fact, Jonathan Majors was just fired from MCU due to him being found guilty of a count of reckless assault and a non-criminal charge of harassment just as you released this reaction.. Which I think is a shame because his character actually worked so well in this series. Fortunately in this age of multiverses, it's probably the easiest recasting case since Rhodey from Iron Man 1

@@dylancole1910 I personally feel like they’d just recast, they’ve put too much into the multiverse saga and the looming threat of “Kang” now not to. That and I don’t think it’d take that much explanation to recast him since there are an infinite amount of variants for him anyway… Then again I could 100% foresee a future in which Disney just says “fuck it, we’ll fuck off from this kang dude” and go with focus on Doctor Doom instead. Don’t get me wrong, really want Doom to show up, but don’t want him to be the afterthought after they ditch Kang. I also hope they do him more respectfully than they did Taskmaster in Black Widow…

@@Krisishere I've heard that there was a clause in his contract preventing Marvel from recasting Kang (just like how they can't recast any X-Men characters from the Fox universe until 2025), so they'll have to scrap the whole character. Maybe they can work some legal magic, though.

@@Greenhawk4 Tbh I haven't seen Quantumania nor do I intend to atleast for now, but I have seen that clip on social media. Can sorta look at it like this, there's an infinite amount of Kang variants (one for every damn timeline), and since that's the case, only a handful of those infinite variants were present in the aforementioned end credit scene. Another point could be a comparison with what they did with Loki. Sure, most variants we saw when he was in the end of time or whatever were Tom Hiddleston Lokis', so it's fair to assume that although the majority look like him, there's bound to be some that look different e.g. Sylvie, the kid, the old guy, etc... The same could probably be true for Kang.

so just got to 1:08:05 to answer your questions about loki , he had a sad smile , he didnt want to be alone , but he wanted to save his friends , so he must be "burdened with glorious purpose" and thus damned himself to be alone for the rest of his existence to keep everything from falling apart , in the beginning Loki god of "mischief", by the end evolved into Loki god of "Stories" you should also take note his horns are made of the black and gold marble at the end of time aswell

If you noticed the name of episode one season 1 is the same as the last episode in season two. It all comes full circle. Loki has always been my favorite character. He has so many layers to him, that you can feel his pain, his sorrow, his happiness. And most of all we can relate to not being alone. But in the end, he gave up everything so everyone could live. This is why the show LOKI won this year's peoples choice awards. There was so much heart and passion and I think its a big thanks to Tom Hiddlston. Being loki.

In the end, Loki used the timelines to create the Yggdrasil, the tree that, in mythology, connected the 9 realms. At one point, he was locked up at the base of the tree as punishment for one of his crimes, and I like how the show kind of retools that idea while reflecting the source.

Weird & kind of interesting mythology points about Loki in some of the Thor movies & the series: the first Thor movie Loki is riding a six legged horse Sleipnir, one of his children. In Ragnarok, we meet more of his children, Hel & the giant wolf Fenrir (pulls at the heartstrings- that’s the son chained to the roots of the world tree). In the Loki series we get to experience Jörmungandr, the world serpent or as most probably know him as Ourobotos (O.B) I freaking balled my eyes out 😭🤧🥺
