I loved it when it came out in theaters! I saw it many times. I was always in tears about the horse in the swamp, & I loved all the crazy characters! I was probably 10-11 years old at the time. I rewatched some of it not long ago. It was good for a kids movie, but it has alot of flaws. I happen to think that makes it endearing, & a sign of the times. But the kid in me still loves it. I bet most 80s kids liked at least a little bit. It's not like there was alot of movies back then, not like now anyway.

I like this! I wouldn't be upset if Loki genuinely turned kinda compliant/somewhat genuine pretty quickly like it seems at first glance but I'd also love if they go the route of your theory and he's still playing games by letting Sylvie warm up to him because he was originally planning to trick her, but now knowing the TVA is lying makes him change his methods. I'm guessing that can go one of those "We became friends/trusted partners but now I find out all this time later you were actually planning to betray me" kinda plots.

so someone explained the "sacred timeline" to me like this (and I like this explanation) - the "sacred timeline" is like a piece of conduit that includes actual "approved" timelines, which are like wires within the conduit. When a Nexus event happens, it's like a wire poking out of the conduit. The TVA is there to keep the conduit intact, and as long as that's the case there can be as many wires as you want within it - because they are all flowing in the same direction. So in essence, there can be various wires but only one conduit. As a side note: I think Mobius is just a believer who doesn't know that he used to be a variant. I think all variants have a trial and depending on how you are judged you may get mind wiped and turned into an agent of the TVA or get deleted (pruned). In my most meta of meta dreams I am hoping that Mobius is actually a variant of an actor named Owen from the 1990s who has a jetski. I'm also starting to believe that the TVA is housed in the quantum realm.

Maybe Loki still has a functional tempad, and was waiting to get Sylvie to give up the information he needs, and then he'll 'magic' it back. Also Mobius was asking Renslayer about all the souvenirs in her office, I think Mobius brought them but he just doesn't remember. I think they wipe their memories periodically so they don't realize they are actually time slaves.

Loki variants are easy to explain. At some point in the past, Loki entered the Tour de France for laughs. A variant of him won the race and created a variant timeline that was then pruned. The "sacred timeline" version of him did not win and continued on with his life. This sort of thing could happen anytime during his extended lifetime, with variants creating alternate timelines and then being pruned and the main one continuing on. Sylvie seems like a variant from a long time ago that managed to get away.

Sylvie and Loki worked so well since they're basically the same people, just different versions. The fact both of their initial plan failed when they attempt to approach the lady at the trailer, then they needed to work together to get in the train is just amazing. Yes NIKKI, I remember the 'Never Ending Story!' It was my favorite movie when it came out! I saw it in the theater a dozen times, at least. ...I used to go to the bathroom when Artax loses his horse in the Swamp of Sadness. That ALWAYS gave me the sadness. I still get emotional when I just see a clip from it! ANYWAY...YES, I remember that mountain you're thinking about, but didn't it have winged statues or something? It's been so long, I can't remember if I'm thinking of NES, or something else. Star Trek has a mountain like that. There's a similar structure in an episode of Dr. WHO also... My theory about the Loki variants is that before the TVA was a large as it is now, it was harder to manage the timeline so there was more room for errant timelines with massive divergence that the TVA couldn't deal with, this is where the bulk of variants come from. But as the TVA got stronger they managed to prune these timelines away until there was just the sacred timeline left, and with the TVA on the scale it is, managing divergent timelines became so much easier.

So basically the reason there is a lady Loki from a different timeline is because they are different iterations of the same timeline, like typing the same sentence in a different fonts. It looks different, but it's still says the same thing.

I buy that Moebius doesn't know he's a variant but is starting to have some doubts about some certain things. Like when he was in the judge's office, he was asking about how the timekeepers are and stuff, and then was joking about the other agent she gets some of her information from--who I suspect is another Mobius variant--and she was kinda not giving him complete answers. I think he knows something is off, and Loki may be making him question things in a way he never has before.
